- In this video I nerd-out on making a fishing lure around a 10 cent coin. The process is backward to what I normally do but, it will surprise you.

Thanks for all the weight guesses and kind words. The guessing time is up. I'll announce the winner in the next video.
Very nice Mr. Franco! One of these days when I have a day off, I plan to start a bunch of carved baits. Your videos just make me wish I had time to devote 100% effort into doing so
You went a little deeper on the math this go round, great video, sweet looking little crank bait!
I have to "reverse engineer" what others have done in order to trouble-shoot issues and problems. But you truly engineered this lure in reverse and did it well! Nice job Franco!
Thank you.
That was amazing to watch sir, love the nerdy stuff 💯
Thanks.
Thanks Franco. We love knowing how a lure works. It's amazing. Thank you for you're skilled hands. He's a good painter too
I try....
Wow, that's a great lure design and a beautiful bait. I would be afraid to lose it!
The process of making the lure is more than I would have imagined. Great job sharing the process
We'll I've shared some very simple lure builds too. Check my playlists.
One of your best looking baits yet!
Beautiful grain. You finished it up very nicely. Good work.
I wish you would write a book, a study of 200 lures or something like that. One page one lure, explaining how it works, why it works, what makes it work, and what would affect its action if tampered with. Instead, we have catalogs with corporate marketing nonsense and books with collector values. A few how to make lures books don't go into principles all that much, but focus on recipes.
That turned out amazing ! Definitely hope you expand off of this experience to lead into other builds . Thank you sir
Wonderful video! Thanks for the tutorial on the math of it! Great information.
Franco you do not disappoint. Another great build. love the grain on the wood especially after the clearcoat. what a better way to use a dime since it is probably only worth a few pennies. LOL. Great job.
Not an expert in economics but pretty sure a dime is still worth ten pennies.😂
Spalted woods are pretty. Nice bait.
Love the spalting on the wood and the action is awesome! Great job as always.
Thanks
Always love watching the videos you put out!! Thanks for all the tips and can’t wait to get a UV cure station setup for 1 day lures builds. I need to just start recording myself but need to wait till the temperature dies down a bit for my camera
Great engineering example of “starting with the end in mind”!🙂
These videos are great to watch especially when I’m getting ready for school in the morning
Glad you like them!
Really like the look of te lure and it has really good action. Love the under water shots, so you can get a better appreciation for the action. Great job
Thank you...the underwater shots are pretty challenging...glad you enjoyed them.
that lure is MONEY
Beautiful work Francisco! Your videos are always informative!
Thanks
Holy hell, that action! well done sir!
It was...right?!
Awesome lure Franco, that grain is beautiful and you did a great job of highlighting it 👌👍
Nice, as always! I like the action on that one, nice and tight, and looks like it even searches a bit.
It does do a bit of hunting
Franco...
What would a pre 64 silver dime do? And how about a golden shiner spray job on that wood ? Very nice job. The way that dimes flashes brings a whole new dimension to the lure. Maybe a polished copper dime sized disc might be in order for experiment?
Great minds. A couple years ago, i tried adding a lip to my plugs. First was using coins, then i did some with various shapes of keys.
Crazy Little (idea), but hear me out... sixpence for the lip, paint it like the red special. May or May not catch fish, but that lure would be a Killer Queen.
At first I thought let's just pop in to support the channel and skip to the end because I've got so many crank baits already and really feel like I've got that particular type of lure figured out (thanks to my favorite engineer), but as usual I made it to the end and what a happy one it was. Franco really understands the fine art of lure porn. Don't ever change the music for the underwater shots. It's too good.
Thank you.
Love the math, great video!
Awesome job 👏
Awesome work, love this one!
Thanks
I mainly fish for trout, usually in the high alpine lakes and creeks. I always wanted to try to make a micro plopper/whopper plopper for them.
Such a cool build, and wow that thing had more action than Sylvester and Arnold put together!!
That action!!!!
I remember making a wake bait out of a broom handle and a quarter once. It had a really nice slow wobble to it.
I live on Chickamauga Lake the most over pressured mudhole in the south. I fish to be alone and that doesn't happen anymore so I sold my Ranger but kept my 1985 Lowe 16' flat bottom. In 2017 I did a makeover on the boat and the Super Pickle was born. I cleaned 1985 and 2017 pennies in hot sauce, sprayed them with clear lacquer, and siliconed them in the live well as kind of a wishing well. I like projects with the date on them.
Alright you're the only guy I know with a wishing bait well. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
@@EngineeredAngler My wishing well doesn't always work as well as I would like. I had a lot of fun building that old boat and people don't follow ya around. If it was for sale this is how the ad would read.
1985 Lowe with original 40 hp Johnson engine with good compression
Reinforced aluminum transom to support an aluminum jack plate (runs in extremely shallow water)
Extended aluminum deck with single or side by side seating with storage.
40 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor T-H Marine G-Force prop nut
Two 9" Humminbird Helix graphs with Humminbird 360. (One on the front and one on the dash).
LED running, navigation, interior, compartment, live well , and night fishing lights on the sides.
Minn Kota onboard charger
Live well pump with timer
Custom console with drink holders
Driftmaster TS-2160 rod holders (keeps rods off the floor)
Automatic bilge pump
OOGA horn
The Trailer
Fresh paint and pen stripes
Aluminum wheels
LED running and tail lights
Boat guides
Trailer steps
Haha I don't think I'm upside down on it. It needs power poles but I couldn't run it as high in the boat dock if it had poles.
Nicely done as always... very nice action also, who would have ever thought....but there's only one Franco right? Great job...lol!
Let's hope there's only one...
I wrote down the calculations for the weights. I also looked back at an older video.
I have a glider all shaped and will try weighting.
Fingers crossed,
Cool action on that and possibly some flash from the bib?
Good luck
Very beautiful bait Ingeniero, it is surprising the amount of action it has being such a small piece, I wonder if maybe a larger coin would work the same? Looking forward to the next video!
Any chance of you executing one of those massive Musky jerkbaits, the ones with grooves in the head (Reef Hawg) or metal tail (Suick)? I would love to see your interpretation of such lures and to study your explanation of principles behind them. Thank you!
Sounds like an idea...
I really appreciate all the thinking and effort put into your work! Now that said I'm going to attempt to make a spin on this lure caveman shoot from the hip style using a dime and some cedar.
Go for it.
Well it floats nose down with probably not a whole lot of room to spare but the action is not there. I'm not done messing with it but I think it might partially be the shape I went with. I kind of went with a boxy shape with a boot tail carved into it and vertical ribs on the side.
Just a quick point, did you consider factoring in the drill holes that would take the hook hangars? Although minimal, as you were talking such minute amounts it might be worth considering the volumes of the holes. Just a thought.
After your video on gold vs silver I think you should use a gold coin!
Gold is what, $2000 an ounce? Maybe a piece of plastic painted gold, would be a more economical choice!
You're coming at us with all this math to make a lure. Then we get Marlingbaits coming out here who's like "yup, this stick is good stick" and ends up catching a bass or muskie on it.
Pretty much!
Wowwww.. The action is very good, my brother 👍 greetings to a hobby from Indonesia🇮🇩🎣

Engineered Angler calculating the size of his lure: x3+y3+z3=k
Me: shave a little off, shave a little more off, shave a little more, shave a litt...DAMN!! it'll work.
Whatever works...
Wow holy crap your a very smart cookie 🍪 very nicely presented it's got a very nice Action pittie a fish didn't grab it 😀
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! I always look forward to your new entries. My mother is now enjoying your show, she is visiting here in Maine for a few weeks and watching what I watch. (She's 83 years old)
Do you play the guitar that is in your intro?
I'm visiting my 87 year old mom as I'm righting this...I'm honored to know your mom is spending some of her precious time watching one of my videos
The weighted bib gave that bait a super tight wiggle. Was that due to being round? Excellent production.
It was a combination of weight location and tie on eye placement
My favorite so far
Thanks. I
As always I geek out on the math behind the making of your baits. Well done 👍
But your new bait needs a name, so I’m offering several free of charge. Lol

The Roosevelt Minnow
The Franklin Fish Finder

( Sorry beer starting kicking in... deleted the really bad ones)
I like them all. Thanks
I just made mine from balsa seems a little too buoyant I think I need to add a little weight The tail Is sticking out of the water
When I saw thumbnail i thought you put badass flames on it. Lol That thing swims like a dream do you think the heavy bill helps aid in that?
Yes I think the weight of the bib is part of it.
I have a very unique idea about a Buzz bait but I'm not an engineer and I need help? I have tried several prototypes but none seem to work..... need some Franco Magic on this one
I believe that wood grain is called spalting.
Thanks...who knew?
Thank you for the math lesson. It would be nice to hear a little bit about actual profesion
Hey Stu question how much do you think that round bill affects the action you think that makes it tighter or widerHey Stu question how much do you think that round bill affects the action you think that makes it tighter or wider It being around like that wonder if that be easier way to make dive lips for a beginner
The round bill has a very unique action...I'm just starting to experiment with
I think I would have used a silver dime?

Mate you can catch Bass on a bana skin. You went into far too much trouble to make that lure!
I don't know how to make a banana skin🤔
FYI: "According to Title 18, Chapter 17 of the U.S. Code, which sets out crimes related to coins and currency, anyone who “alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens” coins can face fines or prison time." Just sayin'... other than that, loved the vid. 🙃
Time to lawyer up.
@@EngineeredAngler Take the judge fishing. 😉
But destroying the dime is illegal because it's government property
its no destroyed😁
Красавчик!
Приятно смотреть. Хороший инструмент.
