    The poppers have many possibilities of use, surfing, on rocks, by boat, sea, lakes, rivers. The assembly and configuration can be modified, depending on place and species. A genius. Congratulations. I send you a greeting from Mexico.

    The only bad thing is if you get cut off. At least the lure part will float and help you locate it. Great idea

    Beautiful redesign of a very popular lure with the added benefit that it will be so much easier to hook it the an eyelet when storing the rod for travel. Always hated the extra effort required to keep it in place on the original style….Kudos Franko

    Similar idea to the snapper zapper used for small blue fish. Interesting concept, can't wait to see it in action. I would have used stainless for the grommets, aluminum doesn't last in saltwater. I used aluminum grommets when I started building many moons ago and ultimately galvanic corrosion destroyed them. Good video.

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Год назад +3

      Aluminum holds up great as long as it's not touching stainless. So if you use it with a stainless through wire That's when you set up galvanic corrosion.

      @@EngineeredAngler that explains what caused it on my early saltwater stuff. I used 316L through wired. I only used those aluminum grommets briefly the went to nickel plated brass or SS.

    Thanks for sharing this, let me tell you they work extremely well!! I live in California socal , I've been making and using these going back 30 years . We call them splashers same exact idea in all , started back in the days cutting wood bats 4" long with threaded eyelets at ends. Now I make them with rigid two part foam that sets off pretty fast , shapes easy , epoxy coats and I usually add pigment to my foam if not it's a light yellow color when mixed. So with these Splashers I've used for salt water, I tie feathers one or two max to a 4 foot piece of fluorocarbon or mono leader. Bonito, Dorados, all pelagics will hit!! They work great off piers , boats anywhere you can over cast !! Love watching you build and your heart for sharing!! Many many Likes , brother!!

    What an ingenious idea and popper lure. I have never seen the idea before here in the UK. You could technically end up with a double book up if you hit a school of fish, one on the popper hook and one on the lure, I would be tempted to use a larger plastic lure of even a solid one. Can't wait to see how it fishes in the Gulf of Mexico. As always, Franco, a well planned and informative vlog.

    Wonder if you added a swivel at the end of the lure onto the leader and ran the jighead off leader off of that if you’d get a little more popper action or possibly added a bit of weight in the head to keep it down when pulling on the leader to advance the lure?

    • @EngineeredAngler

      @@EngineeredAngler gotcha. Yeah the video made it seem like it was bobbing up quite a bit and gliding through the water versus popping. But I also went back and watched the video that the front scoop is more for drag than an actual popping motion. Love the lure and paint job! Can’t wait to see it in action in the gulf!

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Год назад

      It would be difficult to make a mixture of resin and micro balloons that would have a lower density lower than PVC board. So if I had needed more buoyancy, I could have made the lure just a bit chubbier.

    Maybe you could help me out a bit...as example my lure has 5,5g buoyancy with externals there are just 2,4g left..the resin is a 18% mix with microballons how do you add the weight of topcoat+painting to that?
