I had a Cricut back in the day when you had a book and covers for the keyboard I hated it then I found a silhouette sd at a trade show bought that, took the Cricut back and have used Silhouette since. I've had every version of Cameo and am going to get the 5 soon.
I really wish you WOULD make more cameo videos!
Is the mat only for vinyl? Can you also put 220 g Paper on it? I like it, but I never cut such thin materials.

I'm excited that you featured this machine. I am a Silhouette person. I quit watching you because you're all about Cricut, which I just don't like at all and yes I have owned a few Cricuts.
I've been learning on a cameo Pro. I had picked up a Cricut bundle 2 weeks ago but immediately returned it after watching a few videos
I prefer the Software in Silhouette over what I've seen in Cricut design vids. Many more tools/settings to choose from!
will the silhouette 5 cut cotton fabric? how many layers of cotton fabric will the 5 15" cut? will it cut soft leather (real leather)? the website says how many mm which tells me nothing. can fabric be put on the roller thingy?
I returned my Cricut Maker 3 today, just not worth the money...have an Explore 3, and it is just the same as the Maker. I also have the Silhouette Cameo, their software is far superior to Cricuts. FYI: don't buy anything at JoAnn Fabrics, they charged me a $25 restocking fee. RIP OFF!

the mat is not sold separately. It's the electric static add on that is separate.
But does the Cameo 5 work with the paper feeder? The most important part for a small business? :)
Just saw a video last night where there’s another attachment that comes with it and it’s a roll feeder.
What's better? Cricut Maker or Silhouette Cameo? I've got the Maker now but thinking about getting a new machine.
Im not a user buy my gf uses it just about every night. She started with the explore, then the Maker, and finally the Cameo 4. From what she tells me the cricut is easy to use but very limited compared to the Cameo. She didn't like the software with cricut and she loves the Cameo software

The Silhouette software is SO much more professional level! I like the different levels you can purchase also depending upon your needs. I have the Business Edition and it is AMAZING all the things it can do. Makes Cricut DS look like kids software!
I switched from cricut to silhouette back in February, I will not lie, switching software was a pain. There was a small learning curve but it was totally worth it!!! I never use my cricut anymore it just has way to many issues. My silhouette cuts perfectly every time and every cut is seamless! Make the switch you will not regret it!
I switched from cricket to silhouette almost 4 years ago. The best decision I ever made. The only time I get mad crafting now is when I personally make the mistake. Before cricket software would never work or would take me all day to do a could simple cuts

I saw Reddit comment it’s software issue where it’s pixels are low quality. What I did in last was print to PDF and then print to my printer. Give that a try and see if that helps?
Sorry in advance for spouting off here, so don’t read this if you’re not in the mood! I knew they were going to screw us some way since with this new mat we don’t need to replace it regularly. Sure enough, the seemingly low price is false, because you’ll need the buy the electrostatic map which comes separately. I don’t know the price but I’m guessing around $100…? These companies’ efforts to squeeze even more dollars out of us is so obvious! I bet the pens we bought for the Cameo 4, etc., don’t fit this new machine. Planned obsolescence is another phrase for greed.
You really don't need the electrostatic mat. Get it only if you need it to make your life easier.
