I have a silhouette and love it. My daughter has a Cricut so I have used both. I would not change my silhouette to Cricut because I love the abilities that I have with my Cameo. Glad you did the video.
I like to make my own designs is one thing. I can do mockups. I can adapt, resize, or take a whole design or only 1 tiny thing and use in another design. I like the different things I can do with the lettering or do my own letters (sizing, changing angles, adding accents, or just changing colors is easy) lol You are right that Cricut is for people who don’t want to do a lot of designing themselves and it is more user friendly in the beginning . 😬 Once you learn the Silhouette machine and the software it is great! I do designs or trace things for family. I have enjoyed this ‘art’ since 2012 or 2013 (I have the Cameo 1, 2, 3). I really enjoyed showing someone how to use and have fun with the Silhouette. They are not as quiet as the new one. lol. I think the Cricut is a good machine but it seems more limited to me.
@@judyblaise1639 I agree i recently just got a Cricut Maker and I wish it was as flexible as Silhouette Design Studio, especially the tracing part. Also, another disadvantage of the Cricut Design Space is that it only works when you have an internet connection.
I'm very confused why you thought the Silhouette was more difficult to set up? I found it pretty plug and play. I started with a Cricut back in the days when you had to buy cartridges for every different font or design. I switched to Silhouette and have never looked back. The Cricut software is just now catching up to where Silhouette has been for years. Cricut has a more recognizable name, and I have not used Cricut for years now, it could be much improved, but I would never go back. The best part of Silhouette is the software! I designed parts of my new home from actual design (moving walls and windows) changing ceiling heights, color schemes, and exterior landscaping with this software. It's very powerful and easy to use.
Thanks for sharing! I have the Cameo 4 and I love it. I was thinking it was time for an upgrade and wasn’t sure if I was going to get a Cricut or stay with Silhouette. I just may stay with Silhouette. Have a blessed day!
Wow! These comments have been very helpful. I did some research and bought a used Silhouette 4, and had a little difficulty understanding the software, but didn't get the opportunity to really delve into it before it melted in a fire. So I'd really like to buy one, and was going to just buy the 5 since it's out, but was researching again, and I thought based on some other website reviews that the Cricut Explore or Maker 3 would be good machines, but now I'm thinking stay with Silhouette. Thank you for the video, and everyone who commented.
I just got the 5 for Mother’s Day and the mat from my kids. I am a cricut user of about seven years as well. I had to take a planner making class and the ladies use silhouette studio which I download it and it’s so much more friendlier for designing. With all the issues Cricut has been having lately I was really intrigued about getting a cameo. I was very surprised to have received this from my adult children. And then my husband got me that we create 40 W laser for Mother’s Day too so I would love to be at home to play all the time but one thing at a time and I do appreciate any classes that you could load on RUclips for us newbies on the silhouette studio design community.
Hi my lady, do you have a similar video for a Cameo 4? I am hoping!! can you go over the different things that we would click on to understand what they do and how to make something? Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing I got the 5 on July 12, 2024, I just set it up and listened to you make it a little easier. I love how you take your time to explain I hope I will get it soon. wish you were here to do hands-on.
Which brand is easier to use with general design software, eg photoshop/illustrator? I'm hoping to automate some of the design using custom software, which is more open and extendable?
So no mat needed? Is it the Cameo 4 that you prefer or the Silhouette brand in general? I purchased a Silhouette years ago (before Cricut transitiined from cartridges) and it died after years of use so i have been thinking of getting a Cricut (tiniest model).
Not able to cut after printing! Registration marks are there but somehow when we cut it mis aligns… is there anything special we need to do with putting the vinyl on mat ?

What makes you love your Silhouette more than the Cricut? I can't wait to keep making things with mine!

The Cameo 5 is great! I can't wait to try more crafting with it.

I actually found this really interesting. It's always helpful to see comparisons and learn how to use new tools. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for watching!

Hello. Which Cameo model would you recommend?

Hey there! Do you have any inkjet printer recommendations you love that are affordable and work well with the silhouette cameo 5?
So no mat needed? Is it the Cameo 4 that you prefer or the Silhouette brand in general? I purchased a Silhouette years ago (before Cricut transitiined from cartridges) and it died after years of use so i have been thinking of getting a Cricut (tiniest model).

Could you have put a cut at the end to cut off the strip you used scissors for?
You definitely can add cut lines in silhouette for easy removal
How do you adjust the presure for cutting?
In Silhouette Studio on the final screen before sending.
Thank you for sharing. I know this isn't the topic at hand but I love your shirt in this video, where did you get it?
Thank you! It's very old from Joules.
