It’s funny how different people are. The front USB is what interests me about this unit 😂
The idea would be front and back. I had put in a USB extension that goes to a different part of the car. Still it works well. Thanks for your support.

Nice review. I bought a BMW in 2020 and this exact SONY audio receiver came in with the car 🙂 I haven’t updated the latest version I still have the older one of September 2020 from when I bought the car, I don’t have a laptop 💻 to insert my USB and update the latest version, so my question is this: Can you customize the wallpaper?? or the intro?
I want to to put the BMW 🔵⚪️ logo on it so when I start the car it shows the BMW or download a BMW pic and set it as wallpaper on my menu screen, instead of using the 5 standard colors it comes with. Do you have the latest version installed? If so am I able to do this?

@@WayneHackman Yea, maybe you should, after all this Sony AX 1000 came out about 2 years ago so it’s still relatively new. If you have the latest firmware updated on it you should be able to see what are the new features /options on the device.
I hear that it doesn’t have the option to set up your own wallpaper like the older model ax 100 does, perhaps with the latest firmware installed on this AX 1000 it might show something new, who knows. But yea a good video presentation as far as customization with the latest firmware will be a good idea after all. Thanks & good luck

It does come with a mic.
I have a 2001 Nissan Patrol, looking forward to change the original audio system for this SONY, thanks for the video, do you know if there is any difference between your Patrol Model and mine when it comes to the wired system?
I’m not sure. My patrol already came with a sony system so the wiring harness was the same. Not sure about the stock model but i’m sure you can rewire pretty easily.
i have a sony XAV-10BT, if i upgrade to this, will i be able to use the same aftermarket wiring harness i’ve used for the previous model ?
I don't know. In the video, I was fortunate that the original radio was a sony and the wiring harness worked. It was a gamble that paid off. I want to say that this is compatible across the whole sony car head unit range, but I wouldn't want to advise you it works just in case you damage your head unit.
Can the background colour be changed? I'd prefer red over the blue.
Do you have to have your phone connected to the usb cord to use the Apple CarPlay features or will it also work using Bluetooth?
It will work via blue tooth. But outside car play. You can only use car play if you are connected to via cable.

@@WayneHackman the problem is that you can disable the charge of the iPhone. Having iPhone always in charge while using the car ruin the battery

Supposedly it does. I want to test it but I don’t have a droid phone that supports android auto. If I find one I will try it a d let you know.

Does hey siri work with this unit or do I need to hold the dial every time?
Siri can be voice-activated as well using the supplied mic.
you can just turn it on so you don’t need to hold the button. On settings on your iphone
