  • Today we’ll show you step by step how to change the oil and filter on a Honda Fury, including what tools and parts you’ll need.
    We’ll be using Honda’s own service manual as the basis for our oil and filter change, so you can learn how to change the oil and filter on your own, and how to do it exactly as Honda intended it to. No more needing to go to the dealer, to get a Honda-dealer level of service.

    The tool is very suitable for removing and inserting the oil filter with the exact torque without damaging the thread or the soft rubber seal to withstand high temperature. I heard you talking about hypoid oil (from Greek hypo = below) ie the center of the transmission gear is below the center of the crown. Which greatly increases the transmission effort. That's true?
    Good savings in these difficult times for homeowners. After many replacements, even replacing the soft aluminum washer to stop the casing drain bolts, it is safer after the site has been degreased well, to put brake paint with good resistance to loosening. Your videos are highly recommended.
    I never saw it. However, I was told that here in Brazil, some smart mechanics, put the machines on the side easel, right after loosening the drain bolts. Depending on the model, when the engine is tilted, the oil is not completely depleted. The part that is not placed in the sump, due to over dirty oil, the smart ones are collecting. After a certain number of changes, they already have a liter of quality oil for their 125cc. In this crisis then. . . Great videos. Always go on.

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  3 года назад +1

      Hey GG! Good point, you might be able to try to get a little more oil OUT of the system if you put it on the side-stand. I didn't try that because the service manual doesn't say to, but the mechanics you talked to might be right.
      Thank you for the kind words and encouragement with every video, I appreciate it! Ride safe brother! :)

      Thanks man. Oh that's a good question. I would look up on Google Honda Fury rotor and see what the part numbers are, then lookup Honda saber rotor and see what the part numbers are. If they're the same part numbers you're good. Alternatively you can call up a Honda motorcycle dealer, ask for parts department, and ask them to look it up

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  3 года назад +1

      For me, it doesn't matter, as I have a good variety of torque bits. Whatever wrench you get, just make sure it's compatible with whatever size bits you have.
      Sockets typically come in three sizes: the biggest is 1/2, mid size is 3/8, really small is 1/4.
      Check out what socket size your bits are, and get the wrench that matches those.

      Surprisingly, I bought mine from a Harley dealer. It's purpose-designed to fit under their low ground clearance bike. Before that, I used to use an aluminum baking tray you can pick up at the dollar store and bend to shape to make it fit

    Suggestion for another common repair - my neutral light only works intermittently and the kick stand sensor doesn't work at all. I've been just living with it for a year now. I can find neutral by feel, I just have to remember not to put the kick stand down unless I want to kill the engine. I'd like to fix it myself.

    is it smart to drain the oil, add new oil, run the bike for a while and then drain the oil again to make sure all grime is out of the oil pan. or is that just a big waste of time??? thanks for your videos, they help me alot.👍👍👍

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! I'm happy to help. I don't think it's necessary to do that unless you have cause for concern, like bike sitting without an oil change for years, or you found a ton of metal shavings in there.... I wouldn't bother. I can't remember if the Fury has magnetic drain plugs or not, but if you do want to go the extra mile, you can get magnetic drain plugs (if your bike doesn't have them already).

    My 2016 Fury is a California model, there is a EPA Canister behind the oil filter, The largest filter I can fit is like 2 1/4" long and then there is no room for a tool when it comes time to remove it, so I punch through with a screw driver and twist it loose then remove it by hand. I know the shop probably takes all the EPA stuff off and then changes the filter. What a pain. If I ever see a way to relocate the filter I would do it.

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  3 года назад

      If you're fast you won't have to repeat the whole process at all, just take the drain bolt off, washer on it, drain bolt back in. If you're quick you'll only lose a few hundred ml of oil. Or if you have a friend with you have them plug the oil drain hole with their thumb to save even more oil. Either way you're only pouring in a little bit to top up :)

    Why 2 drain plugs? Is a high point between them?
    Thx!

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Год назад

      To be honest I'm not 100% sure. The service manual didn't say why, however, it's not unheard of to have two drain plugs on bigger motorcycle engines.

    • @StanWilhite
      @StanWilhite Год назад

      @@YouMotorcycle I thought there may be a "high spot" between the 2 that would prevent total draining without the extra plug or...maybe an and add on part (engine guard etc.) might cover one hole...dunno. Anyway, thanks for your reply! Stan PS. The engine may be used on 2 different bikes with each using a different drain while access to the other is blocked.

    Ft. Lb. Or. In. Lb . Torque wrench

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  3 года назад

      If you don't mind converting it every time you can go for either. It's just different units of measurement. basically you're asking should I get a measuring tape in centimeters or in inches... It doesn't really matter which one you get because you can convert it, all that matters is if it's able to measure the specification you want. That being said, I only see service manuals working in Nm and in ft lb. I never see service manuals in in lb. So I would make life easier for myself and probably go with ft lbs like the one linked to in the description box under the video

      Honda's engineers have designed it with two drain bolts and ask you to remove two drain bolts. I am not smarter than Honda's engineers so it doesn't matter what I say. Do what the engineers tell you if you want to make the smart choice.
