Thank you for your feedback. I checked out your channel and subscribed: you have an amazing collection of working vintage Lionel trains in spectacular conditions. The Santa Fe passenger train looks fresh out of the box. Looking forward in seeing more of your work and getting more of your feedback. Thanks for sharing!

When you make your legs drill a hole in the bottom of each leg and install a leg leveler. That will make sure each leg can be leveled independent of the other. This is a good idea, especially for basement layouts as the tend to slope towards floor drains.

This is fantastic feedback! I think future layouts will either be wall mounted or follow your suggestion!

I worked for a Bell-owned company a long time ago, @@chessiesystemcanadianopera2143. I was able to pick-up an old brown payphone and used that as my home phone for a long time. I might just hook it up to my red emergency phone so you can call the train room from upstairs 🤣

Looks great. I've been waffling and putting off starting my layout... time to get off the fence and just start something, even if it's badly done.

Thank you for your feedback! The hardest part of any hobby is finding the time to dedicate it, especially when there are other parts of life (work, family, kids, etc.) that take priority. The purpose of this channel is to fulfill a promise to commit at least five minutes a day to the hobby--hence to myself, the person I often don't do anything for. Most of the time I spend my five minutes playing especially now that my track and wiring is functional, but even when I only do five minutes of work, those five minutes do add up at the end of the week.
Feel free to message me directly, we could discuss some simple track plans to get you at least started on something. Don't worry if you do something bad, that's often how you learn. It's amazing how many times I have had to redo things to make up for the insane amount of mistakes from not knowing what I did. I even ripped out my entire track and changed the plan entirely at one point.

I wouldn’t worry about it being badly done, my layout was shit for 6 months. Then I built it again and it was still shit. 2 years later and it’s alright(still kind of shit) I’m still learning. It takes time. But this will be a masterpiece when i finish it.

My first track plan was an absolute disaster! Tearing apart was hard to do but well worth it for where I’m at now. Would love to see what you’re working on, John. Thanks for the feedback!

I made the mistake of using card stock for shims. When I came to Ballast the water and glue soaked into the paper, swole, and lifted the track.
