Year 3 Winter Pruning of Cosmic Crisp Apple Tree with Honeycrisp Graft

Two years ago, Andy planted a Cosmic Crisp Apple Tree, and immediately added a Honeycrisp Apple scion onto it. This video will give some progress updates, care thoughts, and pruning strategies for a tree heading into its third season of growth. While the tree is in its 3rd year, it is actually a bit older as it was a couple years old when it was purchased.
Cosmic Crisp Apple Trees were developed by Washington State University over a couple decades to maximize a sweet flavor with a touch of tart, a refreshing crisp, and a unique durability that maximizes cold storage and freshness. Looking forward to seeing how the apples turn out this year. I love Cosmic crisp, wish I could grow it but I think it's only available to Washington residents. I live in BC just north of you. Also your grafting videos inspired me to do my own grafting last spring. I had several of my grafts take and this year I'll be doing even more.

Thanks for watching and I am excited for some good, homegrown fruit. I am also still learning on the grafting, but it is amazing when it works! Last year, my two grafts did not take, so I am going to try again this year.
