Optical stabilistion moves an element in the lens to counteract for camera shake. Models like this one mount the sensor on an adjustable platform which actually moves to achieve the same effect. We found the stabiliser in the S8000fd was very effective.
Mike, good point, but I always show coverage examples on the full reviews at the cameralabs. com website and dicuss the focal range in detail, so take a look at them before buying. That said, I'm with wombat on this and prefer having the wide angle facilities. After all, you can always crop an image to 'get closer' but you can't zoom out any wider.
Hi, I haven't tested the new Fujifilms, so can't say for sure, but the models I'd recommend right now in each category can be found in the Best Buys section at cameralabs . com...
I've not tested it so can't say, but if you visit cameralabs . com you'll find reviews of the Panasonic FZ28 and Canon SX10 IS which are two superzoom cameras which might interest you.
I have this camera and i like it very much. Maybe it was not the best technicaly when i bought it, but it was the best in terms of price versus quality. In the end there is no perfect camera, not even in the "high segment", it´s all about what is the pourpose of use to the camera and how much money can you spend!
Hi Gordon,Thanks for the excellent review which helped me to make up my mind in buying this camera and I bought one for myself and I am very pleased with the camera for the price it's worth.
Hi Barry, that's odd - it should work fine - could you try again and if you don't get the confirmation email, let me know your username and I'll activate your forum account.
I don't think you should pick up a fujifilm camera unless you want a buget camera,if you want better quality camera go for a bigger brand like sony, panasonic, canon, samung.

I haven't tested the S100 Pro, so can't say, but the handling of the latter looks better. I'd definitely try both in person...

I don't believe you can adjust the optical zoom while fiolming...
