I use a pencil eraser followed by alcohol cleaning to clean gold contacts on the ribbon cables, memory sticks, and cards. The pencil eraser has a fine abrasive that cleans well but won't do any damage to the contacts.
If it comes to zoom to close up objects, it seems older cameras do a better job. I had a Powershot A1000 from Canon (also released in 2008) before i bought a new one. It has 10Mega Pixels and can zoom on a circuit Board so you can even see the small dust particles. But because you can not go Full HD with it(making videos with it in 640X480 with bad sound is...uff) and the pictures are only 4:3, it's only there for close up Pictures (if you need them) Close to every Smart Phone Camera is better today
You've got talent. Just got a fujifilm S700 at a garage sale, camera's working fine, it just keeps losing date/time info, build in CR2032 battery must be dead, could you please find out how to replace it , cheers.
i have the same camera with battery leakage which has penetrated the inside of the top panel...not sure how to remove top housing cause of the mode selector control...how is it removed ???
sorry, i havent tried cleaning the sensor myself, but i assume you would need to follow all the steps in the video and then take out the motherboard thats under the LCD screen. the sensor is likely attached directly to the motherboard
@@TheRepairLair If you do be careful of the charging capacitor for the flash, they carry high voltage. It might be worth searching for the service manual, they are sometimes available for free online for older cameras.

That is a very good suggestion that i have not mentioned in the video - thank you for pointing it out!

I have the same too, one of the battery terminals broke off. Haven’t used it for almost 8years
Probably not a super hard fix though :)
I've the same cam. There is dust on the censor. How can I clean the censor?
