I got this camera about a month and a half after it was released; it is honestly fantastic. Excellent video with tons of options and great pictures also! Definitely worth every penny....the next best thing to a low-end DSLR.
Just ordered this after much debate. It will replace my last camera purchased 3 years ago the Canon sx20is. Also good to see Infosync Pearlman lives on. Best tech reviews in the biz in my opinion. Now I shall dabble into the RAW realm to see the big difference vs JPEG!
You've got yourself a wonderful camera. Graham Houghton's videos are great at teaching you everything you need to get the best out of it. Maybe start with his video called "Understanding the Panasonic FZ150, Part 1 Intelligent Auto (iA mode)."
im so glad your doing camera reviews for techno buffalo, extreamly entertaining and personable, i also love the fact that your reviews aren't on a table in a nice office..
not to sure, all i know is that it is being released in mid august in parts of Europe. So expect it to be released in North America in around a month or 2
Excellent and very helpful review. I was looking at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 as a big upgrade to my FZ18. But then saw the NIKON with the 42x optical zoon, but you have made my mind up. Stick with the FZ150 and Panasonic. Many Thanks!
Yes, as this is comparable to an entry level DSLR and even better in terms of sensor capabilities and functions such as the great amount of zoom, it's better off to start using this camera or any other bridge cameras such as the Canon SX40 or Nikon P500. Hope that clears any doubt.
Why do you prefer this over Nikon P510 and Canon SX40 which have 42x and 35x zoom respectively. The optical zoom on Panasonic FZ150 is comparatively quite low. Why is it superior?
i chose this over an entry level dslr just last week because of convenience. glad i did. viewfinder is ok, but like most electronics viewfinders it lags in low light.
That was the first video I watched. Graham is a great instructor. I just need to get out and do some shooting. Do you know of any DVDs that are available for purchase for this camera? Thanks for replying to me. Happy New Year to you Chris.
Out of the three I would recommend Panasonic and Canon as these two are more in favour in terms of specifications. If budget is a factor then go for Canon SX40 HS. I'm personally using one myself. But of course, if you want DSLR-like quality images, you should be looking at entry level DSLRs. These are just zoom cameras with better image stabilization than a compact camera. In the heart of each zoom camera lies the same image sensor as a compact one.
Great review. I enjoyed your review presentation. Btw, in the video mode, does it have 1080px24 and 1080px30 as well? And... is the mic input in stereo? I'm still curious how fast the auto focus in video mode. I'm looking for use in journalistic media coverage and for documentaries. Something with above average quality image but quick and convenient with manual overrides. Thanks :)
Mike since you reviewed them both, does it worth for me to trade my Panasonic Lumix FZ45 for FZ150? And could you please review the Fujifilm X-S1? Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed your videos re the various cameras. Love the Review of Panasonic FZ 150, but am waiting very impatiently for your review re the Panasonic FZ200. Going to US in October & would like to purchase but want to make sure it is better than the FZ150.
Are you using a wide angle 35mm lens for this shot? It looks like, also your Fstop looks really low, considering the big amount of motion blur... But anyway... AWESOME VIDEO
Love this review... I am changing my Sony HX200V for one of these, as the HX200V does record in RAW, plus the JPEG is heavily processed and ruined my recent family holiday pics - noisy as hell!!
I actually like shooting with this camera better than the Fuji XS-1. Mainly due to the AF and IS systems being superior. The ISO performance is a bit better on the Fuji (not surprising due to the larger sensor) but at 400 and below there's not much of a difference between this camera and the XS-1 IQ-wise.
I got one for Christmas so I will be anxious to play. Have been using a Canon. Thanks for your review. Are there any instructional videos available for a novice?
Dude, you must review the FZ200. I love your reviews and I'm interested in your take on how the two compare. I'm looking to make a considerable jump in camera quality from where I am now and X-Mas is creeping up. It's either gonna be the FZ150 or 200 as my one and only gift from the wife.....help me decide.
wich is best ? can you answer ?? Sony Cuver-Shot DSC HX200V or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 or Nikon Coolpix P510 ?? which is the best varsion to Buy ?? please answer me back ;))
im closing watching the price variety on this camera..its came up all the way to 500 but now its at 440 at amazon and B&H..but still kinda expensive compared to canon sx40
Is this worth the upgrade from the DMC-FZ100? As an amateur looking to upgrade from point and shoots, would the Fuji HS20EXR be a good option? :) Thank
Thanks for this review! So, you said it has great video quality, which is what I'm looking for for my youtube videos, do you reccomend it for youtube? And also can you transfer the videos onto a laptop, as obviously I need to edit + post. It would be really nice if you could answer this question, Thanks again and enjoy your cuppa ;)!! (Subbed)
I was wanting to ask you how well the FZ150 video does indoors in subdued light? I am wanting a decent point and shoot which I can get quality video's of my daughters indoors at school during there plays and other activities.
i've been researching many bridge cameras, i see these great reviews but there is one thing every body forgetting which is the AUDIO!!! what's the point in shooting video and there is no good audio so thanks for the review but please do some reviews on the audio of the camera as well please thanks
Perhaps you can assist - when I first got the camera and shot video with zooming in and out had no problem - not for whatever reason the camera DOES NOT hold the focus while zooming in and out - I've tried multiple settings - not getting anywhere - any thoughts?
your videos are a bit... different at times lol but quite informative, you convinced me to go away from the Nikon and Canon. I would like to get this one now but it is a bit pricey... just wish I could have a way of having monthly payments instead but don't want to deal with credit cards lol
You don't really need that review :) FZ200 is the same camera but with a constan f2.8 aperture through the whole zoom range. Which means shallower depth of field (blurrier backgrounds), possibility of faster shutter speeds and fewer images ruined for camera shake when zoomed in. I have the FZ150 and it is a great camera, and the FZ200 will be the same but with an even better optics. You can look here --> facebook.com/michal.jenco.photography
which ruins the camera is 'only 24xZoom', so I'll stick with SX40 (34xZoom), but for those who do not care about zoom, the FZ150 is a better opição! fore faster in focus, and 12shot fps (vs 10fps) and best for videos
i am studying on the nikon p7100, canon g1x, panasonic fz150, sony nex-5n, panasonic gx1. I know there is a big difference. I dont wanna carry around a heavy expensive d650 or nikon d5100, otherwise it did no study but order one of them. I also want a small camera. Maybee I am gonna wait for the sony rx100 to come out soon here in germany. Or the d650 with a smaller camera and use both of them (panasonic pl3 as backup). Money is no issue when I see the canon G1X does gives hq pics. Thanks.
I just bought this and it’s still good. I don’t know much about photography and i was shocked this model was released more than a decade ago already
I got this camera about a month and a half after it was released; it is honestly fantastic. Excellent video with tons of options and great pictures also! Definitely worth every penny....the next best thing to a low-end DSLR.
I've just bought one of these 2nd hand following this review, and it's very impressive. A great purchase.
I'm not even in the market for a camera.... This dude just does awesome reviews.
great addition to the team, i watched his videos a few months ago when i was in the market for a camera
I have this camera and watching this after 10 years though...
Would you say its still a nice camera? Was thinking to buy this one. Hope you're doing well after a year has passed
is it still a great camera?
Just ordered this after much debate. It will replace my last camera purchased 3 years ago the Canon sx20is. Also good to see Infosync Pearlman lives on. Best tech reviews in the biz in my opinion. Now I shall dabble into the RAW realm to see the big difference vs JPEG!
Love the camera and great that Jon's company has grown, how time flies.
yea, i noticed the price was coming down. but still $450 or anything above $400 is a hefty price tag.
I paid £379 for the 150 money well spent, it is amazing, great review by the way.
great review...but a few months later now, would you buy it or wait for new version?
He and Jon are the best from technobuffalo

You resolved my problem! Few days burning neurons and watching it I got a decision!

Which one should i buy FZ 150 or FZ 100?Is there any major difference?
Which do you prefer, the HX200v or the DMC-FZ150 ?
Is the video of the DMC-FZ150 better than from the HX200v?
Which would you recommend of the 3 or rather should I just go for whatever is cheaper? Thanks
i chose this over an entry level dslr just last week because of convenience.
glad i did. viewfinder is ok, but like most electronics viewfinders it lags in low light.
What slr under $500 shoots the best quality video?
That was the first video I watched. Graham is a great instructor. I just need to get out and do some shooting. Do you know of any DVDs that are available for purchase for this camera? Thanks for replying to me. Happy New Year to you Chris.
Their superzooms come out in October. You've got a long time to wait.

Umm, or you could just tell us what's going on. This dude is the best, I need his reviews.
Good Review. And actually, good camera product from Panasonic , too. I've got one last month. Believe me, it;s incredible.
Mike since you reviewed them both, does it worth for me to trade my Panasonic Lumix FZ45 for FZ150?

Keep up the good work.
do you recommend this for Filmmaking? Hows the cameras Video mode?

the question is: in terms of picture quality, should i buy the Panasonic DMC-FZ150 or the Canon SX40 HS??? Only picture quality matters.
Michael FZ150 wins for picture quality!
Are you using a wide angle 35mm lens for this shot? It looks like, also your Fstop looks really low, considering the big amount of motion blur... But anyway... AWESOME VIDEO

I'm off to buy one online right now, thanks, great review!
I got one for Christmas so I will be anxious to play. Have been using a Canon. Thanks for your review. Are there any instructional videos available for a novice?
is it still worth it? considering that it's 2013 ?

This isn't a DSLR, but I'd recommend the Canon 550D. Not bad price at all and it's well under 1k.
hey, how good is this camera video in low light, for example on the street with just lights coming from the street lights?
My Friend took me a photo and the quality is amazing
i would sooo buy this camera if it weren't for the $499 price tag. what a shame.
Would this be a good recommendation for someone just getting into photography?
which is better? this camera or the sony dsc hx200v?
more*
great review mike
For you folks complaining about the Dollar costs, just to cheer you up, I just had to pay £350 ($540), this side of the pond!
Kindly post a review of DMC FZ-200. I am planning to buy one very soon.
if this camera weren't so expensive i would buy it. but i'm going with the canon sx40.
Is this better than Nikon d3100 in video quality , if we depend just on kit lens .
How would you compare the Olympus SP815 14MP 36X Optical Zoom SLR-Style Camera with HD Video and Dual Image Stabilization to this camera?
Good review.. Hoping you would review it again, if it is Good buy @ 2021
Please do a review of the FZ200! I'm looking to buy a camera and want to know if the extra money for the 200 of the 150 is worth it.
whens the release date?
Is this camera better than the FZ62 or even the newer FZ72 ???
Hi which would you recommend the Sony Cybershot or the Panasonic Lumix
Does it record videos?
Awesome, sounds good. I have currently been looking at the Canon 600D since my mother said she would pay half and we share ownership hahahaha
(Subbed)
DMC-FZ150 or PowerShot SX40 HS??? what do u choose for images??? dont wry abt movies..
Sadly, Mike cannot do any reviews, or comparative reviews anymore. Check out his last cam review for info. T.T
Please review DMC-FZ200 when it comes out!
This one is cool. Im getting Lumix FZ 100.
I am thinking of buying the new Sony Handycam CX220E, would this be a good alternative?
PERFECT ! The camera and review ! ♥
I love your reviews but In my Honest opinion more features isn't always better. For instance my mom would have alot of trouble using the panasonic. :)
I was wanting to ask you how well the FZ150 video does indoors in subdued light? I am wanting a decent point and shoot which I can get quality video's of my daughters indoors at school during there plays and other activities.
is this camera able to connect a fisheye lens?
Mike is the BEST.
can you get higher than a 24X zoom under a certain setting?
Mike is awesome. And I want me one of those cameras!
Hello please I would like to know if dmc-fz200 is much better than FZ150 (here in Europe is 200€ difference in price!)
Love you'r videos!
Do you know, when Panasonic will come out with a new model? I don´t want to buy it know, and then in 1 month it would have been much cheaper.
How much is this one?
i've been researching many bridge cameras, i see these great reviews but there is one thing every body forgetting which is the AUDIO!!! what's the point in shooting video and there is no good audio so thanks for the review but please do some reviews on the audio of the camera as well please thanks

im between HX200v and this one. im new at this camera stuff but why is 12.1mp better than 18mp?
great jam packed video. very informative
your videos are a bit... different at times lol but quite informative, you convinced me to go away from the Nikon and Canon. I would like to get this one now but it is a bit pricey... just wish I could have a way of having monthly payments instead but don't want to deal with credit cards lol
can you tell me which lens is best for shooting action scenes with my t2i? thanks!
hi,which would you recommend between this and the nikon coolpixp510 for a non-professionla,i just want to take really nice pictures

uuh, the man got fired mire than a year ago. he won't be doing anymore camera reviews.
Canon Powershot SX50 HS for the win!!! 50x zoom, twice this camera!!
which ruins the camera is 'only 24xZoom', so I'll stick with SX40 (34xZoom), but for those who do not care about zoom, the FZ150 is a better opição! fore faster in focus, and 12shot fps (vs 10fps) and best for videos
You honestly look like Ian fron Smosh especially when you're doing that childish waving thing. Anyways, great review.
Lástima que en este video no pruebasel zoom de la cámara. Podrías revisar una fujifiml sl300 u alguna otra fuji ?
i am studying on the nikon p7100, canon g1x, panasonic fz150, sony nex-5n, panasonic gx1. I know there is a big difference. I would like to know, about it´s macro capabilities
