@@jgator6694I’m with you, “This Ol’ Cowboy”, for me, is the very best it ever got with The Marshall Tucker Band. The lyrics are witty, and soloing is just phenomenal.
A friend of mine since childhood, played the flute for Marshall Tucker band. He was an original member of Firefall. His Name was David Muse. He passed away but his flute resonates in many hearts.

To them I was saying something patently obvious, "Hey!! We're watching a 70's classic rock cover band!!!" Yeah, no sh##. That wasn't the first time that had happened....
You both outdid yourselves today! Three great songs from my childhood in the 70s! The 70s always have a special place in my heart! Thanks for always doing a great job in your reactions. ❤
Love this Band !!! 4 members of MTB served in the Military. Toy Caldwell was the Lead Guitarist/Writer and Lead Vocalist. He also was a Marine who received the Purple Heart in Vietnam.
I loved MTB. Blended genres into their special brand of Southern Rock like no other band. Piano, sax, flute, steel, keys, guitar, vocal harmonies, etc., blended jazz, blues, C&W, bluegrass, rock, all into the MTB sound. RIP boys. Good health to Doug Gray.
Chills...just talking to my buddy today and we talked about concerts. He said he saw the Allman Bros, The Marshall Tucker Band and I think he said Joel Walsh, for $8.50 back in the day. It was in Dallas stadium where the Cowboys played in the 70's. So cool I would see you doing MTB tonight. I never saw them in concert, only heard them through AM radio magic.
Never apologize for family time! I am driving from Arizona to pick my grandkids up in Orange County, CA for a two week visit (6 snd 9)! I am so excited! Great song...love Marshall Tucker...saw them twice in the late '70s!
The sign of a great song is when you can still remember all of the lyrics decades later. And I can still remember my 8-track tape cutting some their songs in half. Seemed like FOREVER until the song clicked over 😂🥰
Back in th day we could only hear songs when they came on the radio and I can remember hearing a great song and having no idea who it was. You get to listen to songs with headphones and think about every word and relisten. Do you ever go back to spring on 2020 and think what if Jordan didn't start reacting to songs and how small your musical world was.
Marshal Tucker was a fun band to see live I was born in 64 had a hippie Uncle who took to me to sooo many Festivals where you'd see at least 12 different bands such good memories
Love love MTB!!! Another you should listen to is a live video of 24 hours at a time! You will really enjoy that! Also listen to This Ol’ Cowboy great jam near the end! I have seen them a dozen times in the 70’s and 80’s and was never disappointed!! They were jamming!! Doug Gray awesome voice, Toy Caldwell great on guitar, Jerry Eubanks on flute etc, George McCorkle, Paul Riddle, all of them!! RIP Tommy, Toy and Tim!❤
This song makes me feel something in my belly like i been somewhere and need to go back and its years later in the middle of nowhere in a forest ! Love this band and blackfoot highway song ! Also Fire on the mountain is really good !
Their most country song is “Desert Skies”, not one of their biggest, but one of my favorites that always reminds me of my late sister, who loved it,calling it kerplunkity plunk music.
I have seen the Marshall Tucker Band 3 times and enjoyed every concert. They were such a great band to see live. They always got you jumping.Thank you Jay and Amber for playing them.
Absolutely love that image of the sun setting over wheat fields. I've been around that a lot here in Kansas. But I'm from Texas so I also get the rest of the vibe. Plus it's quite humorous, it's very tongue and cheek and he's just saying, hey I can say this shit and say all that, because that's what they say in all the love songs right? But you can tell that from the very first verse, he actually really loves this person.
My personal favorite of their entire catalog. Now that “Can’t You See?” and this tune have been checked off the list, maybe they’re ready for it next, seems the obvious choice.
Love this so much. I taught it as a poem to my high school English class, just printing out the lyrics, and letting the students debate whether the narrator is sympathetic or not. [A man knows he has to move on but doesn't want to crush his woman's heart. He'd stay another year if he saw her cry so he has to sneak out. It hurts your heart.] Then I blew their minds by playing the song. [But this version is the short radio version and doesn't tell the whole story; otherwise, Amber would have been all over it with a tear in HER eye.]
Ah man, can't believe you picked the version that cuts out the piano solo, that blows knowing how much you two like piano. Damn. All good songs today though!
I was going to say the same thing, This is the single (radio) version. The album version is far superior with the extended piano break AND another verse that is edited out of this one.
@@billmcmahon5454 Yup. And they did a weird edit for the single, which has only three verses (the album has four). For the third verse (single version), they pieced together the first part of the album’s third verse with the last part of the album’s fourth verse. The flute intro is shorter on this one, too. Add it all up and they chopped a full 1-1/2 minutes off the album version.
Definitely the soundtrack of my youth, 15 years old, hanging out around a bonfire and listening to Marshall Tucker Band. My motto has always been I wasn't country when country was cool, but I do love me some Willie, Marshall Tucker and CDB (Charlie Daniels Band). This song does have a country feel to it, but I still love it! Makes me feel old though, heck, I AM old! Glad you guys got to have a fun day at the water park! I know it's awful hot here in Texas, but my water park days are over. I am fortunate enough to have a pool, just no fun slides and the pool right now is kinda green because the chemicals are off.. anybody thinking about getting a pool just know this.. it is a money pit! Take care all!
This is one of these great bands that sounds the same live as on their records - not a bunch of manipulation or extra fill to make a record sound better than what they can do live.
I love The Marshall Tucker Band. I think it was in 2022 my friend who sings with Black Oak Arkansas got to be on the same concert as The Marshall Tucker Band
Great band formed by two brothers Tommy & Toy Caldwell , Toy died in an automobile accident. And Tommy died later at his home in So. Carolina saw them many times, many times in the 70’s in San Francisco at the Winterland auditorium. Great band
Very nice reaction. So much fun revisiting these classic along with you and watch and listen to you discovering them for your first time. Brings me back to my first time. And yeah, that’s a flute. And I heard it in a love song… Can’t be wrong!
My favorite radio station when I was a teen in the 1960's and 70's was KOMA-1520 AM radio at 50,000 Watts from Oklahoma City, they played all the popular songs and many times they were first with the newest hits. we could tune in to that station in the evenings after sunset from Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota.
Fun fact. They song they heard it in is "Can't Buy Me Love". Also, for the longest time I thought the lyrics were, "pretty little love song" not "heard it in a love song". So "can't be bought" never made sense to me.

They're grown in the blink of an eye. Nothing is more important.
Making memories with kids is more important than making a reaction video.

Marshall Tucker are definitely a southern rock band to me this is their best song of them all. I just love them myself.

I think their best is “This ol Cowboy”. Flute is amazing zing..

The Marshall Tucker Band didn't fit into just 1 music genre box. They were a blend of Country-Western songs, Blues & Rock songs.
As a southerner growing up in the 70’s, thanks for this.
Add a New Yorker who also appreciates this.
The south has given America so much great music. I'm from the north, but y'all down south just seem to understand things.
This is the short, radio version. Gotta listen to the long version!
Yeah I missed the break for the piano...
Please listen to the full version. It’s a must

Marshall Tucker Band combined rock, country, blues and jazz. One of a kind. Their use of the flute was great.
Man, back in the 70's, after hearing that flute solo on the radio, it would be stuck in your all day. Such a beautiful melody to whistle to.
It still does. LOL

Skin it Back- Little Feat
Gator Country- Molly Hatchet

"One Good Man" is my favorite from Rossington Collins Band...

He also was a Purple Heart recipient from his service in the Vietnam War.
"This Ole Cowboy" " 24 Hours at a Time" are 2 of my fav Marshall Tucker songs. This band is my Sunday morning playlist . So smooth .
"Last of the Singing Cowboys" is my favorite
I love the jazzy feel of this old cowboy
If there is such a thing as a perfect southern rock pop song, this is it.
Our band covers it. Never fails to get a good response from the audience.
