Thanks for sharing, always good to learn classic recipes like this one. You do a great job of giving the tutorial as well. Also a spot of British humour at the beginning didn't hurt either.

I’ve not had oxtail soup for over 50 years. I still remember how good it was and that was tinned. Yours must be infinitely better.

i'm so happy to find this recipe a few years ago. I remember when i was a child, and my mother made us an ox tail creme from maggi... and 15 or 20 years ago, the brand closed the product line and i coudn't find a recibe that could match that rich taste. I followed the steps of this one, and it was SO awesome!! just like the maggi one, but MUCH better!!!! i can only say, thanks, a lot, really! and many grettings from Santiago de Chile =) (y)

In case you ever come to the Netherlands, " English oxtail soup" is for sale in every supermarket in the Netherlands from the brand Honig. And other brands in cans or bags.

By accident I discovered a veg soup recipe that is almost exactly the same flavour and texture. I call it moxtail soup. But you can't beat the original.
The method for moxtail is similar to this recipe except that you add 1 table spoon of marmite and 1/4 of a cabbage. Once blended the cabbage adds the ox texture and the marmite approximates the flavour in combination with the beef stock and tomato pure.

Thanks. I now live in SE Asia and things like oxtail soup, Christmas pudding, Branston and Asha lime or mango pickle, HP source and decent bread are non-existent so make and bake our own. Others like digestive biscuits, Chelsea buns, scones, kimchi, marmalade we make our own.
I shall let you know the result of your recipe when have cooked your oxtail soup.
    Thanks again.

A good way to avoid the expense of Ox Tails in the United States. Use Beef Necks and add a couple of pieces of Marrow Bones. When you pull the pieces of meat out make sure the Marrow falls out and stays in the pot.

I like oxtail soup, in my country this soup called "sop buntut". Of course its not anything like the british oxtail soup. The difference are use of potato instead of turnip, no flour (its clear soup), add of nutmeg & lime juice to seasoning no bayleaf and thymes, the other are the same. And we don't do the smoothing method.

Hi Titli, many thanks for another great video and another fantastic soup recipe :) My kids love your videos, my daughter especially liked the brain curry recipe lol :) Anyway, I made this oxtail soup yesterday and it was a hit! There was one change to the recipe however, completely accidentally. I bought a parsnip instead of a turnip (Baldrick was mortified!) - However, the soup turned out beautiful. I will definitely make this again, and to keep Baldrick happy will get a Turnip!

    Greetings from Greece.
I love all your recipies, especially this one.
I have to make this soup NOW!!!
The problem is that the chances of me finding a turnip in Athens are slim.
Can you recommend a substitute for turnip?
I would really love an answer soon.
Also, since I see that you're no stranger to soups made of... unusual parts of an animal, I would be happy to give you my version of the traditional, greek "sheep tongue soup".
The most deliciously disgusting dish ever. You will love it!
