My friend adopted a few children because she thought she could not have anymore. It was the best decision she made. England has a very comprehensive foster system. There is so much hope for these vulnerable children. She did so many course to foster a few autistic children, she became a part of the teaching system. I was very impressed by her achievements. She died from a heart attack in her husbands arms a few years ago. I miss her so much

We fostered back when it was unpaid voluntary work. We fostered for 23 yrs approx and had anything from 4 day old pre-adoption babies up to teenage girls with babies. We fostered up to 5 children at a time, we had 3 of our own. We saved the Government a fortune and were out of pocket ourselves.
Fast forward to my becoming disabled and what help do I get? Disabled Living Allowance only, why? Because as a young mum inexperienced in the ways of finances I stupidly believed the Social Worker who told me that the Social Services were paying my stamp. Wrong.
So, well out of pocket again, we’ve had to spend what little savings we had and now I need a new wheelchair, never had any help with anything like that either.

A female friend of mine specialised in fostering young children with disabilities and was very successful at it for several decades, until a young inexperienced social worker gave her a bad report and brought her fostering to a screaming halt.

social workers make a lot of mistakes, they seem to have no idea or experience on children and their care, I worked in pediatrics and they were useless
