Beautiful Watch! I originally got their wave master purple, but when I saw this, I switched it out and I’m happy with my purchase! The mother Pearl shimmer’s and depending on the light has different colors shining through. The gold accents are wonderful.
This is certainly an unexpected lightness, if not in fact an unexpected delight from Phoibos. What I think makes this so likeable is the light and shimmering bezel, which really brings home the more jewellery oriented take on the dive style. For what it's worth, I actually think it suits you and by that measure may well suit others too. I'm not the biggest fan of Phoibos' octopus logo, because it's very literal and prominent. Here the biggest issue that creates is the black rendition. I keep looking at it and from a slight distance it is as if there is a bug sitting on the dial, which is simply not a great look. The thickness is also a very clear weakness that because of the aesthetic really doesn't become this watch. Nonetheless, I think there is more than a little sense to this approach as effectively even the toolish black numbers are more jewellery than tools for probably more than nine out of ten people. So from that perspective this take on the dive style is perhaps more honest and allows for more diverse tastes to be catered for. I would certainly not put wearing mop beyond me, but it would likely be in a different style watch. E.g. the Signum Sollus comes quite a bit closer.
I’ve got 4 Phoibos watches Esbjorn & they’re all beautifully made. MOP as a rule doesn’t work for me. I do however have a 1920’s Rolex homage ( cough, cough) with MOP & it works really well! But I do like the execution on this model & yeah it’s a point of difference from the norm.👍🏻
Great review, Esbjorn. I like Phoibos watches, I own 3, and all are fantastic. I really like this one. I think the dial is beautiful. The mop, gold accents, it all works! I can see myself wearing this one for sure. Thank you for sharing.

Mother of Pearl is certainly not for everyone ...the material is genuine here but you have to be into it I think.
The mother pearl is real, and it has a ceramic bezel and 316 L steel. There’s nothing cheap about this watch, including a high-quality Seiko movement.
