- The OG tall-guy point forward, Tim Thomas, joins the fellas for another episode of Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. Tim talks about coming up in Newark, being one of the state’s greatest. Then he gets into the 1996 McDonald's All-American game with Kobe, when they were ranked No.1 and No.2 in the country. He discusses what it was like to come up the ranks with Kobe and why he ended up choosing Villanova over going straight to the league. Tim gets into his time in Philly, his experiences with those great '90s Bucks teams, and what it was like playing for three different teams in one season. He also talks about coming home to play with the Knicks and how he got to be close friends with 50 Cent, then tells about the AAU program he runs for kids in Jersey and shares what he thinks about Kevin Durant taking the tall-guy shooters' reputation to a whole new level. Tim’s a real OG, so listen up!

Tim was one of those players that really frustrated me dude to me had All-Star caliber talent but you only saw glimpses of it.
He Shoulda been so much better. Jeff Green too
@@Blowone-h1i jeff green never really had a chance to show it
#1 Player over Kobe for 3.5 years in that '96 class but he never wanted to be the focal point of a team...Had Top 50 ability
You got to remember at that time the league didn't know how to utilize Tim because he wasn't your traditional power forward he was ahead of his time.... he really ushered in the stretch 4 that can dribble pass and shoot. After him look how many "all around" stretch 4 came into the league(not just the stretch 4 that can shoot)....
@@lakerraiders9285 Cliff Robinson started that
Hear so many stories oh how underrated tim thomas was and how dominant he was coming out of high school...great to hear from him!!!
Tim was a beast n HS n his year at Villanova.. Coming outta HS He was Lebron with a post game I jus don't think he had the crazy work ethic
Yes. Was touted as a bigger, stronger Scottie pippen do all type at Paterson Catholic. Definitely underachieved
Dope interview. I remember when Tim Thomas played for the Bucks & used to wear the two headbands overlapping. That's when I saw him give everybody work. Would love to see Delisha Milton & Swin Cash from the WNBA side get an interview & would like to see some OGs get interviewed, like Otis Birdsong & Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell, just to name a few. Not sure if this comment will be read by the Knuckleheads, so I'll leave it there. I will say this; my daughter plays volleyball (made the Varsity team as an 8th Grader last year) & every time she get a kill/spike, she taps her head like y'all used to do on the court lol!!! I taught her that...
You also need to get Deshawn Stevenson on the show too.
I'm surprised Q and D Miles hadn't interviewed Ronnie Fields yet.
Facts. I don’t think they’ve interviewed any players that didn’t go to the NBA tho
Ronnie Fields unfortunately died in an accident when he was in high school
Ronnie Fields survived that accident. He ended up playing in the CBA.
Dwayne Bradford no he didn’t him and kg still talk 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well then why dont they bring him on then cuz all of these guys know him....Just felt like they been talkin about him like he dont exist no more Bergen street Duke boy @blaqreign
Damn this interview made my heart smile. I grew up watching Tim and Kobe play locally and definitely looked up to all both. My biggest regret was not getting my app for Five Star camp in early enough. Tim was there that summer and my best friend/teammate who got came home with stories of how he tore shit up.
Tim saved the suns season against the Lakers in 06
Facts
Hated him lol man he couldn’t miss. I know the fire between him & Kobe back to the old days
I got pissed he made that late 3 pointer. Tim definitely had talent.
That pump fake was killer.
I see q rich couldn’t say we got the blackest one this episode 😂😂 Tim Thomas blacker than a ace of ♠️
Forreal lol
I hope youre saying this realizing that the darkest people on earth are the strongest
You have to view the blackest one as the highest compliment!! The rest of us are just hybrids.
These are just jokes people 🤦🏾♂️. We don’t have to make everything sensitive I love the show and these are just jokes. Salute to Tim Dmiles and Qrich all as black men.
lmao!!
Ben Gordon or Monta Ellis, please!
Y’all never let down with the guests! Can we get an OJ MAYO episode!?!?
Him or Monte Ellis
OJ Mayo a nasty combo guard! My guy, wish he’d stayed with my Mavs.
1st time i seen oj mayo was in a tournament in Kentucky we have aroung Christmas every yr called KING OF THE BLUEGRASS he was 14 yrs old playing varsity for ROSE HILL (Billy walker also) avg 20 pts as a 7th grader killing 16 17 18 yr old players
Great show!!! Keep em coming my brothers. Can you get Joe Johnson, Chris Carter, Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace, those would be some great shows!!
Rasheed has his own Podcast.
I need Larry Hughes nxet fellas
Neeeeed!!!!!!
Smitty name keeps coming up. Gotta get him on the podcast.
Smitty was a problem for a lot of these guys coming in the league.
Crafty Smart Veteran whos IQ was high
Smitty used to give work. And like most say he was not "fast" persay but he was hella smooth with it.
Facts..seem like he gave damn near every1 that work
D and Q now you got to have Steve Smith on the show. He's a winner both on and off the court. Q when's Rod Strickland coming on the show? People are asking and you ain't answering.
I will never forget as Suns fan when Tim hit that game winner back in like 05 06
You mean the one when he did the Kobe?
I know he is a big deal, but that moment is literally all that I remember him for, and hated him for it at the time btw , respect
imagine if he had the mindset of working his ass of to get to his goals! Thats what separated him and Kobe.
He didnt have Kobe's athleticism either...
facts
@@Terry794 We are crazy but you are putting Thomas in the same sentence as Kobe? McGrady, I understand but Thomas? Lol...
@@Noc4ball in terms of basketball he may not be as good of a player, but in terms of hops he was up there with Tmac and Vince
I remember my high school team was playing in a tournament at FDU and the whole talk was about Tim Thomas and my team (Snyder) was like we have to see it to believe it and as SOON as we walked in that Gym we seen Tim Thomas throw down the nastiest dunk. He was the real deal
So we just goin ignore that Tim said he was draft day traded because Keith Van Horn didn't wanna go to Philly "to play with the brothers" 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Hilarious and feels accurate thinking of van horn and his style
That is so fucking dumb. Van Horn played in the NBA, which is 90% black. He'd be playing with "the brothers" no matter where he went. Thomas sounds like he can't accept that he wasn't as good as he thought.
And, based off his "start, bench, cut" list it sounds like TT isn't that fond of white folks.
I didn’t miss that
Whatta you expect from a guy that played at Utah?
If Tim Thomas played in the modern NBA he'd be a MVP caliber player.
WE NEED MONTE MANE, GONE GET THE MISSISSIPPI BULLET ON HERE Y'ALL
💯💯💪🏼💪🏼
Mane you ain’t never lied ! When He played in the Bay, He was soo cold, and couldn’t get no press !
Tim Thomas Would Thrive in the New NBA, A Stretch 4 Who Could Handle, If Tim Thomas would've had a Greater Drive He could've been a Multiple Time All Star
Hey fellas anybody remember these two high school legends , Dejuan Wagner and Randy Livingston?!!
Dejuan wagner scored 100 points in a high school game. I saw him play at the City of Palms Classic in Ft Myers Florida
Dejuan went to Memphis. He used to come over half court and pull it. His dad was on the coaching staff too.
Q and Rich get Antoine Walker next💪🏾💯
His actually the next one. I seen it on their iG
@@ajlouis8033 ok that's awesome. Thanks for the update. Your awesome 💪🏾
Fire interview 🔥 we need Jamal Crawford on here!!🙏🏼
Okay knuckleheads is the best best basketball 🏀 podcast ahead of all the smoke
Hell yea knuckleheads comin in clutch!!
💯
“We got in the league in 2000”...still hard to imagine that was more than 20 years ago...I’m 35 now...shout out to my now “old heads” out there hope y’all aight! 😂
The first time somebody called me OG on the basketball court I loooked at em funny. But 40 Was old to me when I was in my 20’s
Bobby mickey bro! A guy hit me with the “who got old head?” I was so sick! 😷 😂
growing up in Milwaukee Tim Thomas was that dude on the bucks I met him in toys r us before Christmas and i will never forget looking up at him in awe
In elementary school tim Thomas was my boy favorite player. Dmiles was mine. Good pick right here yal.
Quentin Richardson and Darrius Miles are two realest dudes ever. They are great in there own right but have no problem talking about how great other people are. Greedy Daniels is a New Orleans legend and sometimes forgotten but Q and D Miles always show love!!!!!!!
So glad to hear his story 🎉
Much Gratitude
KnuckleHeads coming through heavy to close out quarantine season. All The Smoke was killing the game early on, but KHs holding it down after ATS put all their ish out.
Tim Thomas had Swagger to his Game! 💯
You two have on the best Guests in the podcast game. Appreciate it
Tim Thomas was one of those guys shooting 3s before it was in style
Tim Thomas is one of the legit stretch 4 in the 2000s
Another🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 interview
I remember him with phnx and dude would barely miss
I'm still waiting on Thomas to avg 25ppgloo... He for damn sure had the ability to do it multiple seasons. He just never tapped into it. Oh well, he made it to the league. And I'm sure he had and still has the respect of his peers.
Yea he drove me crazy cuz he could score whenever da fuck he wanted, he just never seemed like he wanted to play hard consistently
In the 97 draft Spurs had the first pick and selected Tim Duncan while the Sixers ended up with 2nd pick drafting Van Horn who then was traded for Tim Thomas who was drafted by the Nets. Imagine if the Sixers ended up with the 1st pick and then drafted Duncan. Duncan and Iverson duo would have been sick to watch. Probably the Sixers would have won at least 1 championship, and the 00 series against the Lakers would have been a classic.
Makes you wonder.
Man can we get Rasheed Wallace on here!!!!
Loved this one!
Tim Thomas with Big Dog, Sam Cassel, Ray Allen is the main reason Tmac bolted the Magic. He could never advance past the Bucks
Mcgrady only played them once in the first round . Smh
He reminds me of KG, his demeanor
In today’s game Thomas would thrive
Tim thomas my guy!
OG Tim, only caught the tail end of his career but heard he was cold
Tim Thomas was definitely a problem in his day
He Definitely was a show to watch in high school
This was really good. I love a good come up story
Salute to the homie TT He is the best to do it from our hood!!!
That ECF against Philly was a great series.
I find it hard to believe that the kids of today would not be able to survive comin up back then and ballin out at camps and national schedules.....etc
In my opinion the kids of today ( the small group that actually make it ) are super driven and I'm honestly impressed by their work ethic and dedication to being the best, I mean most of them take the initiative to train and work out outside of scheduled team activities ( practice, games, team work outs ), I mean yeah now a days kids today may have access to more to work with than they did back then but work is work which makes me think that even if they didn't have access to more things that they would still work just as hard and and possibly be just as good as those stand outs back then .
Tim was Nce nice phenom 💯💯💯💯💯
the Legend that never was
Knuckleheads got the hardest theme music I swear
Q had me rollin’ “Damn, why you gotta kick him out the league?” 😂😂😂
Q and D I got a great guest for your show who put some serious work in the League and also entered the League straight outta high school: South Carolina's finest Jermaine O'Neal.
Y'all forgot about Marque Johnson while writing your description.
This bout to be lit 🔥🔥🔥
Get Michael Redd on here!
Get Jamal Crawford on a knucklehead podcast
Tim Thomas is a cool dude.. Met him when he played in Milwaukee.
it'd be cool of they had david icke on this show too. He was a professional athlete for a little bit and then got villainized by the media. basketball wise i wish jordan, rodman, and kareem on here.
started shooting 3s before the stretch 4
Once again, I've said this for years. Real ball players know #33 the GOAT!!
That was awesome lol
Tim the 2k goat
yall spoke his name..get DC on here
Tim Thomas was a maniac on the b-ball court
I remember tim was the first one i seen rockin two headbands shit was fresh to me lol
Loving the inside scoop
TT good to see you looks like you doing well 2000/2001 playoffs with the bucks I thought you were destined to be a superstar Always played better in the playoffs Chopped up with you at the airport real kool Dude
Y'all gotta get Steve Francis! The Franchise along with Baron Davis were among those early explosive pg's... plus he could talk about his experience posterizing Q. 😆
ruclips.net/video/ue6BcjTdesI/видео.html
Tim Thomas you wasn't nothing nice. I'm 6 years older than you but I followed your rise. Always showed up and rose to the occasion. Peace and love from Chicago!
Tim's beard is forever attached to his face.
Gotta get Kenyon Martin on the show
Sixers starting 5 was supposed to be: Derrick Coleman, Tim Thomas, Jerry Stackhouse, Iverson, Larry Hughes
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Hahahhahahah yeah picture that chemistry
@@kofithompson2274 can't... The beaker broke trying to mix that concoction
I would love for yall to interview hoop dreams stars Authur Agee& William Gates
Thought he would have had a better career, but the talent was undeniable
Nothing prepares you for 82 games + Playoffs.
That’s big of LeBron saying “you’re better than that.” and how crazy it is that the right person saying the right thing at the right time can flip that switch in your life! So to any of my fellas/ladies going through anything out there just know that it’s gon be aight! “You’re better than that!” Ig:jonnymosesllc
TIM THOMAS IS MY GUY BUT DAJUAN WAGNER SR IS NEW JERSEY'S FINEST
Wag was solid, but Tim was a monster, when he wanted to play.
As a Bulls fan, hearing how they did Tim dirty...no wonder we couldn't land no big free agents. The organization isnstill screwed up till this day
bro tim thomas was a god in nba live 09..I would drop like 50 points a game online with him..og
Man, I am not a fan of Tim Thomas, but if anyone can change my mind, it’s the knuckleheads. Let’s get into this episode...
Always played good against Jersey when he was with the bucks
He used to park the black Bentley on the curb in front of Gee's Clippers on Sherman & Fond Du Lac when he played for the Bucks...
That would’ve been crazy, Tim Thomas would’ve won chip with Kobe
Just want to say something...I dont care about Drake, Pac, Biggie.....Lloyd Banks is the GOAT.
We Gotta Get Tim Duncan On Guys
I'm not feelin that Big Dog shade at all !
As a bucks fan, i liked timmy, but he basically became a 6-10 3 point shooter.
I think that's the reason Rick Pitino had him run the entire pre-draft workout. His effort was always questioned. Had he matched his talent with skillset, he would have been one of the best in the game.
Can y'all get Latrell Sprewell on?
Niiiiice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
TT was a big issue!!! Gotta see that doc he workin on!
Tim look.like dmiles bro bro.foreal
shawn kemp, steve francis, cuttino mobley
Get Kmart on the cast
Tim Thomas still looks like Young Dolph....IDC
Tim Thomas one of those players I always felt should've been way better than he was. With his size and skill he should've been a perennial all star. He just didn't have that dog in him
Sometimes it's the system you in, or coaches decision or upper management. Kobe sat on the bench for 1.5 years. Guys like Dale Ellis or Alex English had to get to a different team to show they belong on the floor. It not always the player.
The game was too easy for him
System. He basically became a spot up shooter for the rest of his career. Too ahead of his time. He would strive in today’s fast pace 3 point shooting.
@Raw As I Could you dont know basketball if you dont know what that means
