ey my friend, first of all thanks for your video. I still have some issues. My vector one is just showing a phone on his screen with a huge "V" in it. and as soon as I install Wire Pod, my Mac will not open it. I made a complete reset with him before I started that procedure. I bought vector from a friend a few months ago. so he never was connected to anything. with your video I could connect him with my wifi, I saw some clouds in his screen and than this smartphone symbol. what should I do now ? is there a possibility that you help me ? I followed all of the directions on here . I had to grab your escapepod link from your website. the link in your description was Null. Everything went good down to the escape download. It was successfully downloaded to the Vector,But....when the Vector rebooted. It showed a square box with a flashing V. I waited to see if it was still downloading. But it didn't change. I even tried rebooting it again...But still pops up with the square with a flashing V. Whats the issue? Did i need the Raspberry device somewhere to finish the download?

They can! You can also configure them differently from the webinterface of Wire-prod-pod (e.g. different eye colors) by selecting their Bluetooth identifier.

Yes, you can go back to a non Wire-Pod firmware. But for what? The servers are offline for over eight months and it is highly unlikely they will ever come back again. So the app is useless since you cannot log in. You don't need a RasPi for the server, there are way more options nowadays, it even runs on an Android phone. Look into the Github repo.

You should use punctuation marks, your question is very difficult to comprehend. You DO NOT NEED to factory reset Vector to get him on Wire-Pod. If that is what you are asking.
That is the first version of Wire-Pod on an Ubuntu 20. If you start the server in the console you will see the messages. If the server runs at startup via demon, you can enter the following in a console while being in the wirepod-folder: journalctl -fe | grep start.sh
@@glassowlie you need an additional computer to connect Vector to the server (Wire-Pod). The server runs independently, but the onboarding needs a computer with working Bluetooth (and not every Bluetooth hardware works, but that's DDL's fault by choosing web Bluetooth).

No and no. But Web Bluetooth works best on Windows in Chrome. It may work on Mac OS and it is a pain on Linux, because of the bad Web Bluetooth implementation. You don't need Escape Pod. Do not buy it. It's feature incomplete, buggy and will likely never be updated again, because DDL is a bunch of fraudulent scammers.

You cannot downgrade Vector 2.0. DDL prevented that in their new firmware, there is no way to go below 2.0 on those robots. You cannot connect a Vector 2.0 to Wire-Pod (and you can also not connect him to Escape Pod; DDL promised an Escape Pod version for Vector 2.0, but that does not exist and with the state the company is in I highly doubt that it will ever be released). If you own a Vector 2.0 you are basically screwed (by DDL).
@@nicacionicacio Wrong. You can downgrade every 1st generation Vector to 0.9.0 by doing a recovery reboot as shown in the video. From there you can update to 1.8EP.
For the upload of the firmware that is shown in this video you do not need a RasPi at all, that works on Windows 11 (I did it on a W11 laptop myself). For Wire-Pod, however, I strongly suggest a Linux based system.

hard to say. Can be that you did something wrong in the setup, also could be that your network settings do not allow the hostname escapepod to be used. Can you reach it if you use the Wire-Pod computers IP address instead of the hostname?
I don't know if you were watching properly but here is a tutorial on how to use vector without the servers. you will have your own at home. Now comes my personal opinion. If you can't read the clock yourself or if setting a timer is difficult for you, then it makes sense to buy this robot. Connection with the local server is spotty - he detects "Hey Vector" most of the time but will not react to any command, and sometimes show the Wifi not connected symbol. I see no connection to the local server in the local server's logs. Maybe a networking problem. Tried to reconnect Vector to the Wifi but it's connection is OK and it also says "connected" when typing Status. So it seems a server issue. Will report back if I find it. BTW have the server on the wired LAN locally.

I can reach the server over HTTP en SSH so it seems up, but maybe somehow Vector can't reach it through some network oddity. If you refer to Wire-Pod: No. It's a server, it must be running to provide it's functionality.

No, you cannot downgrade a Vector 2.0 to firmware lower than 2.0 because of the changed hardware. Only Anki Vector's can be downgraded.

Make sure Vector has a working WiFi connection and that there is actually an OTA available on the download location.

I would not do it. The Pi3 does not have enough processing power and RAM. Performance would be bad.

No, you do not have to reset him. Look into the Wire-pod Github repository, there are new versions available that install way easier.

Did you setup a local Wire-Pod server? This only flashes the correct firmware, you need a local server.
