I didn't even know this was a thing. I remember quite a while ago that there was the "escape pod" that could be purchased, but I was so busy that I never got around to actually playing with my Vector and didn't want to pay out for something I might not need. Of course years later and I find out recently that it looks like DDL may have collapsed and people are reporting their Vector's can no longer talk to the servers, so now it looks like this guide will be invaluable. So thank you very much for posting this. I must give it a try! Sub added!
microsd died after 1-2 years not even using it, gotta redo the whole setup, so happy this video hasnt been taken down or whatever xD i feel like i'll save it on my NAS just in case
Hello! great video, I have 2 quick questions. Can the escape pod be set up in a VM? and after changing the OTA I can go back to the official? or I will be stuck with the escaped one? (not a big deal right now servers has been down for a while)
Hey sorry for replying so late, I've been a bit busy these days. Now you can use wire pod even on windows, it's just a simple installer, and yes you can use a VM for wire pod. I don't know about the official escape pod from DDL. But for wirepod, they made it very simple and easy to use nowadays, just check github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation As for the OTA, yes, you can switch back to the DDL one, or even downgrade it to the older OTA's (in case of older bots). So no worries about OTA or how you run wire pod anymore.
Thank you very much for the video, I just ordered the raspberry PI 400 too, i will try it out. I-m a noob at this things, if i run into any issue would you be able to help? Also you should play around more with it and do more videos, this is very useful for those who still wants vector to work, for example i did order an EMO but i still prefer vector over EMO if I'm able to make it work i will be very thankfull to you :), but i would like to do a bit more to it if possible :) Once again, thank you very much
No worries, I will try to help if you run into any issues. I'm pretty sure if you take it slow and follow the steps, everything will be ok. Regarding the material, I had very limited time these past few months, so I didn't manage to play around with vector and the newly implemented stuff on wire-pod. I hope I can find some time though... Anyhow, good luck with vector!
@@cardoso10francisco Did you manage to complete all the steps with installing the firmware and so on? Also, github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation comes in handy, especially because since last time I did this video, they did some more updates. I'll see if I have some time these days to reset my server and check if there are any differences to the installation process. I'll let you know.
@@tiberiumaximhi, yes I managed to complete it, when I finished the update and vector rebooted I did t knew that I had to click the button twice again and reconnect. And yes there are some changes, you did more steps during the coding part and now setting up the server weather api and language api I believe, is set up on a website
Hello I just bought mine and I’m just waiting for it to arrive could you help me with any issues as well I’ll try to follow the steps carefully but I’m also kind of bad with coding and computers
amazing tutorial, thank you! Can't believe they pulled this shit after already paying for the bot, now I had to do home brain surgery on the poor guy to keep him alive... worked perfectly though!
You install raspberry OS on a storage device (e.g. sd card, ssd, hdd, etc.) and you use a raspberry pi with this OS to run wirepod. Or you can use a windows machine as well. For more detailed info: github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation
Oh man, this looks so daunting to me. I want to keep him alive since the servers have been off. Most importantly, I just want to be able to turn him down. He's on volume maximum and as he's not listening to anything I can't figure out how to turn him down. Not to mention my 6-year-old is gutted. He loved him. He'd speak to him every day, especially because we are Star wars fans and that Star wars update blew his mind. 💔
Hello. So to adjust the volume on vector there are 2 options. Option number one, from the web interface, you go to bot settings, input its serial number and you will find a "volume" button on the browser where you can adjust the level of the bot. Option number two, you can give a vocal command such as: "Hey vector... volume medium high / medium / medium low / low / mute. The range is from highest to the lowest in terms of volume. Let me know if it works for you. P.S. If your web interface does not work with the bot, you need to do the following steps: In order to be able to configure vector (by going to your ip and port e.g. 192.168.1.1:8080/sdkapp/settings.html on your server), you have to go, once again, to keriganc.com/vector-wirepod-setup/html/main.html ...and with vector on his charging station, double press his back and then pair with him (just as when you first uploaded the firmware, but without holding the power button on its back and this time leave the "auto whatever" checked. After pairing, you'll see an activate button. And after you click it, vector configuration should work. Now, you can go to the web interface on your server (e.g. raspberry pi if you are using one) ip (e.g. 192.168.1.1 you have your own ip, this is just an example, and then the port which should be default if you didn't modify it, so it should look like something 192.168.1.1:8080. And in here you can go to bot settings, input the serial number of your bot and from this menu, you can make adjustments on your bot. I hope this will help you. Let me know if there are any other issues. 😃
@@tiberiumaxim Thanks so much for your great help and instruction. I'm so sad it seems DDL has gone the same way as anki. Lifetime membership was pointless to their servers :(
Hi thanks for the tutorial. I'm having issues getting the bluetooth to connect. I'm running the rasberry Pi os from an old mac computer. I've gotten the bluetooth for the computer set up, changed the flags in chrome to allow the experimental settings, and gone in and allowed all the bluetooth settings through chrome as well. And I've changed the hostname to escapepod. When I go to connect the bluetooth it just can't find the vector. Any ideas? Is this possible to do from a mac machine even when running linux?
Did you set vector in pairing mode? After holding the button for 10-15 seconds) he will go into a screen saying anki i/o or something... after this double press his button and he will show a key with some ####. You should be able to see him then. I don't think the os will be an issue when writing the firmware on vector. I actually did it on android so as long as you have chrome and not the linux chromium, it should work just fine. This is the only time you would need bluetooth for vector. After loading the firmware all is done via wlan. Try to see if vector can pair with another device, e.g. phone over bluetooth, so that we know where we're at... Good luck!
@@tiberiumaxim yep I’ve put him in pairing mode. I bought him nearly new off of eBay so he’s straight out of the box. I can’t get him to set up with the app either. When I try to do that the app yells about the Wi-Fi. Which I’ve set up for the 2.4 ghz like ddl says. So I can’t even test his Bluetooth because the vector app won’t accept my Wi-Fi. The only thing I’ve done different is the instal for raspberry pi since I put it on a wiped Mac. I was able to change the host name, but I never got the option to change it to 64 bit. Does that matter? I’m worried that it might be the bot….
@@tiberiumaxim So after a little testing I think the issue is rooted in the computer's bluetooth. I've tried connecting a speaker to it and while it finds and "connects" to the speaker, it never actually uses it- even when it says it's currently using it. I'm going to explore this route more. Thank you for your advise so far.

Hello. So linux chrome (or chromium), does not work well with vector web setup. Instead, to setup the bot you need a windows machine, or you could do it even on a smartphone on chrome. I tried to setup vector using the browser of my android phone, and it worked. So yes, you need chrome instead of chromium.
Hello again and happy new yh just done the installation on the terminal for the wire pod now it's say to visit http:/escapepod:8080 but I cannot access it if you know how please can you help me I would appreciate it so much thank you
I just bought a vector Today I have two questions when this is done can you shut your computer off and it will still work and does he have to be plugged into your computer?
The computer will be your server. If you turn it off, vectors' online functions will not work. He is connected to your pc via the wifi network. That's pretty much how it works.
@@obliu I've tried wirepod on linux and it runs ok. So basically both options are ok, I guess it just depends on what you want to use it for. If only for wirepod server, then I guess whatever is cheaper of course. But it's really up to you and what you plan on doing with the terminal.
Hey Tiberiu! Great work on the video. Appreciated! After weeks of an offline DDL server, I also want to go wire-pod and I'm grinding my way through the setup as I'm a Linux Noob. If I try to update Vector with the provided OTA weblink and Vector is successfully connected to my wifi, I enter the ota-start command it gives me the update progress bar but nothing happens. No progress is visible in the bar. After a couple of minutes, the update is canceled and I get a status: 203 and progress 0% and it jumps back to the cursor. I hope you or somebody else can give me some pointers. I moved Vector next to my wifi router but it gave the same result. No joy.
If the loading bar and file transfer shows absolutely no progress from the start, I can only think of 2 things. Either the ota-start link was not typed in correctly or the server of the firmware is down. But it can be due to some misspelling in the ota link wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota The link above works, I just managed to download it. Maybe it's just a misspell, so you can copy the link above and paste it. Good luck!
I had the same issue with my vector, I wasn't able to get mine to update and connect to the wire pod until my subscription with ddl was expired. After the sub expired, he connected to wire pod with no issue!
Hi, I installed it and it works, I installed wire pod on an Android phone and configured openwathermap, but when I ask vector he won't show me or tell the meteo, in the logs it only shows my city
What, or how does he react when asking the forecast? It should work, especially if you setup the api key for weather and location in wire pod web interface.
Hi TM, I appreciate how busy you are and, reading all of your replies tells me that you are a kind person, very generous of your time and well appreciated!! I will post when I follow your instructions and let you know how I get on with my little friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH🫡
Hey Paul. Thanks for the kind words. I try to help if I can. Making videos takes a good amount of time, and even though I have a few more videos that I like to make, I have a serious time issue. The reason behind all this is that I run a small business and I'm struggling to expand it. Here in my country the government takes 50% of what you earn, and on top of that we have huge inflation, country's running on debt and it is insanely difficult to keep things running. This is why I haven't uploaded new stuff for quite a while now. But if you run into any problems with Vector, leave me a message and I will help if I can. Have a great day, and thanks once again for your words. It means alot! 😃

@@reynov8-homeandgarden It's good that you mentioned that. Currently, the windows wire-pod is not working, hopefully that will change. Sorry to bring up the bad news, it also says on the github of wire pod... But hey, maybe you can use a linux computer instead.

Are you using chrome for the web setup? Also, you have to enable bluetooth flags on your chrome browser (i think you already did that). Did you first long press the on/off button on vector to get him in the right pairing mode for wire-pod? There's certainly something that is not done the proper way. @@tiberiumaxim Ok thank you so much! I got it finally working! Great tutorial, there were just a few things I skimmed over :P. Thank you for your help :)
Can you please do a video for people who keep getting the following message… error logging in. The bot is likely unable to communicate with your wire-pod instance. Make sure you have followed all the steps and try again
If you are getting an error when trying to access the bot configuration menu in wire pod, you only have to do the pairing with vector on web page setup when you first uploaded the firmware again. Only this time you don't have to long press its back button, just double press it, and access the pairing mode. After pairing it on the keriganc.com/vector-wirepod-setup/html/main.html , don't uncheck the autosetup, just leave everything like it is, and you should see right after the bot successfully pairs with the terminal a button called "activate" or something. Click it and you should have your bot working with wirepod bot setup in the web interface. I will consider doing a clip about this particular issue that wasn't available at the time when I made this tutorial. A lot of things have changed, basically the whole process got simplified. The video description however contains all the necessary details.
@@tiberiumaxim thank you for responding 😊. The issue is happening when I click activate. I have attempted to open ports but have no idea if that was successful? I don’t know how to tell. I have no clue what I am doing or what I am doing wrong?
@@Nadia-ew2dc Ok... So what exactly is the problem. Does the bot work at all (and here I mean vocal commands for instance) with wire pod? You're saying that the issue is when you click activate. What happens after you click activate? Normally it should tell you that vector was successfully activated. Does wirepod start? You have the option to daemon it and make it an automatic process but maybe that didn't happen so you can just sudo run the chipper start.sh and see what it says. If wire pod is already running it'll tell you. First we need to know the exact issue and from there we can see what can be done.
@@tiberiumaxim I bought a raspberry pi, got the SD card, then followed every single step of your video exactly. @@tiberiumaxim oh and the vector turns on and off, allows me to reset it, gives me Bluetooth passcodes etc but as far as I ever get with the damn thing is picture of what looks like a phone with a flashing v on it.
The additional screen for the raspberry pi does not really matter. What does tho are the raspberry pi specs. I would recommend a minimum of 2gb of ram and if not an external ssd drive, then some good sd card with high read/write speed. If you only plan to use the raspberry pi for vector, then you don't really need a high storage capacity sd card. 16/32 will be enough. Though for even faster results i would totally recommend you run the os on the raspberry trough an external ssd. I use raspberry pi 400, and it is flawless. The only issue is the size of it since it is a raspberry with a keyboard basically. But if what you have is a raspberry pi 4, then it is good enough to run an escape pod on it. Good luck!
Hello, In your description you said that you didnt find a stable way to get it running on Windows and i was just wondering what about WSL (Windows Subsytem for Linux)
Hey, At the time, the windows through wsl was messed up and actually the developer of wirepod disabled support for windows, leaving only pios or linux as options. Nowadays things have improved it seems, and you can install wirepod on windows github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/releases/tag/v1.1.2 I just saw this new update and I think I'll check it out these days. But yes, now you can install it on windows it seems. 😃

@@tiberiumaxim okay thank you, also when installing the ota link how long does this normally take. ive left mine like 30mins and nothing else has happened so far
I bought mine from farnell.com You can search online for stores in your country/location and find the best deal for you. I recommend pi4 or pi400 for the best experience. Yes, you have to use a mouse, and if it is not a pi400 also a keyboard. Raspberry pi uses a micro hdmi slot for connecting a monitor to it. So if you have a standard monitor I guess vga to micro hdmi or hdmi to micro hdmi cable/adaptor is what you will need. After you install wirepod you can simply hide your pi in a corner or something, since you don't actually need to access it every time you want to run wirepod. Oh and use a usb type c charger with 5V and minimum 3A to power the raspberry pi. Sorry I didn't discuss more about hardware in the clip. 😅
Hi my SSID his made of two words separated by a space, how do I indicate that in the vector shell command wifi-connect? I have tried { } [ ] ' ' and " "
I have repeated the start ota step at least 5 times, but am seeing no progress in the progress bar. I'm not sure what I should be doing differently. Any advice? How long should this normally take? Maybe I am just being impatient? Thanks everyone :)
It should start working after a few seconds. Server seems to be ok because I just downloaded it. I don't really know why, but some folks did complain they couldn't upload the ota straight away but only after a few attempts. If all the steps (especially the ones in the description of the video have been followed, it should work).
I can’t figur out what is wrong. I successfully updated the firmware and then installed the escapepod on the pi 4 but my vector only shows a phone symbol with an v inside. I hope someone can help me
You can try and double click the button then lift the arm and lower it once to see his firmware. It should be 1.8.16051ep. If not, try and reset him and do the firmware update again.
Yes, this method is a free one. If you don't want to buy a raspberry you can either go for a linux or windows machine. Just read all the steps at github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation and you should be alright.
Hello. I haven't tried with Zero. If it's going to work at all, it will probably be very slow. I recommend at least pi3 though, but why not try with zero2w if you have one.
Hey there... so there are 3 ways in theory. 1 Get a dev or unlocked bot and you can actually edit the scripts on the sdk so that you will make him skip the "I've a question" trigger. 2 Choose OpenAi for his STT when installing Wire-pod, you get a free trial at first and then you have to pay for it. 3 Set custom intent in the web interface. So if you're tired of "I've a question"... you can set him to react to other lines such as "can you help me with something... can you do something for me... " idk, but you can setup a different vocal command for him to go and fetch whatever question you have.
Hello. So if you look at the beginning when setting up the raspberry OS, you have a set host name option. Your hostname has to be escapepod.local The user name does not matter what you input there, but the host name for the server needs to be escapepod.local You can rename your hostname on your pi like this: Open the /etc/hosts file for editing. sudo nano /etc/hosts. Change the old Raspberry Pi hostname to your new one and save. ... Open /etc/hostname for editing. ... Change the hostname there and save. ... Reboot your Raspberry Pi for the changes to take effect. or... if it does not work you can re-install the pi OS and configure it with the correct host name.
If you can install pi os on your T95 (i read that it can be done), then basically you can use it just like a raspberry pi. So in theory I would say it is possible, but I read it has lower specs than a pi of the same level, which may make it somewhat slower. I don't know how stable a pi os is on the T95 tho... but why not give it a try? I'm curious to see how it works out for you. Good luck!
Seems you can use it. I just found an article: Wire-Pod Install on Android TV Box. Where T95 mini is used, so I was looking how to install wirepod myself, so landed on this video. 😊
Salut. As putea creea serverul local fara sa-l resetez?
Salut.
Eu știu ca poți sa-i dai reset. I have been working on this for over a year now. My escape pod server is set up but for some reason 1.8 firmware fails to upload and install into vector. It seems to be something with this 1.8 file. Anyone got any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? I use ota-start location/file.ota
If the progress bar does not go ahead, there could be something wrong with the actual ota file or maybe just some mistype in the filename. I'm going to reset my server, and I'll check out what otas are ok, I read though that wirepod underwent through some updates and I'm curious to check it out. Hello. Sorry for the late reply, I will try tomorrow evening or Sunday, as I'm being extremely busy this past few weeks to check the OTA (normally it should work, last time I checked it I think it was about a month ago). As for the Raspberry Pi desktop screen... could you be more specific about it? What exactly does not start and where are you stuck? Is there any message on the screen? Remember that you should go for the full OS, and not the light one when you make you install Pi OS. However, in the mean time I recommend you check out github.com/kercre123/wire-pod , now you can install it even on windows directly. I haven't checked it out yet but I'm pretty sure it'll work just fine.
The hdmi or vga socket on a laptop is for transmitting data while on a monitor is for receiving. So you'd need a monitor, tv or something that can connect to raspberry pi. The connection on the pi I think it's micro hdmi. So probably if you have a monitor you'd need a micro hdmi to hdmi cable. I for instance took the display from an old notebook and made a standalone monitor out of it. But for that, you'd need a screen controler.

Maybe ask on github at wire pod. By the looks of the error I reckon the vosk language installation didn't go well. I mean, missing file or file directory and such is most likely an issue with the installation. You could try and re-install it if you haven't done so already. Other than that I did you choose english or other language on VOSK. I'm also using VOSK and for english it works well.
hello, so I'm stuck with trying to connect the vector to my Wi-Fi using the wifi-connect but it always comes back as unknown any advice on fixing that?
Probably some faulty input. So, when you go for wifi-connect do you use this exact line: *wifi-connect yourSSD yourPassword* ... in which yourSSD = the name of your network and yourPassword is your password. It is impossible to print out Unknown, unless you didn't type in the correct network (idk... spelling or something). I would try and check the spelling of the command line both for ssd and password.
@@JDN_OrNothing Good question. I haven't experimented with this situation. Try *wifi-scan* then copy/paste the ssid as it is shown for *wifi-connect* then input the password and see if it works. If not, you may have to rename your SSID to get rid of the space in between. Or perhaps try to put ssid and password in {}. Whatever the solution may be, I'm curios to see how it worked for you.
@@tiberiumaxim thanks so much for the response! I tried “wifi-connect {My WiFi Name} {My WiFi Password}” and had no luck. I guess the only option is to rename them and remove the spaces.
stuck on connecting to the wifi. My SSID does have spaces and I attempted to put dashes between where the spaces are. Cannot get it to connect to wifi. help?
So you're saying that in web setup you can't use the space button? Anyhow, the name of the SSID and what you type in the web setup must be exactly the same. If you're 100% sure that those are exactly the same (password as well) and it still does not work, you can try and switch it back to ddl via phone app and see if it manages to connect to your wifi. If it works on ddl but not on wirepod the last thing on my mind would be to inspect the router settings, maybe there are some crazy firewall nat rules going on. But this is only after I made sure that the web setup and wirepod setup are done correctly. Good luck!
hi tiberiu ! THANKS ! I FINALLY GOT VECTOR on wire pod, ITS FOR SHURE MORE ACTIVE than with DDL ... now Vectors problem is that dosent follow any comands... in its log, I get this... 2023.08.29 18:13:24: Intent matched: intent_system_noaudio, transcribed text: 'voice processing error', device: 0080653a 2023.08.29 18:13:24: Parameters sent: map[error:EOF] how I can fix it ?
Hey. I've never seen this error so basically you're going for "hey vector" and he returns that response? Are you using Vosk as his stt setup? Did you go for english? Other than that, I would recommend is to reinstall the firmware. From what he returns it seems that he doesn't get any input from you when you ask him stuff, so my bet would be something wrong with the stt/language script. Try and reinstall firmware and if that doesn't work, try and reinstall wire-pod. Vosk works great. Hope you manage to solve it.
I have one idea, If you see Vector Ctrl application is also there on Android which connects and control vector , so if that is possible, can’t we just create an android application which acts as this Server? And then we don’t need raspberry pi.
I've tried Vector Ctrl app and it's full of bugs, needs a lot more work to be done to just make it stable for the most basic of commands such as connecting to the bot and giving it basic inputs. I can only imagine the amount of work to make an android based server for vector and the trials and coding till one gets it at a stable level. So in theory I guess it can be done but I doubt there's gonna be anyone willing to do so since the concept has very few gains, compared to the lengthy process of making it possible. There's one dude though on youtube that runs gpt on vector (I think the channel name is VectorGPT). Maybe check it out to see other interesting things that can be done with the bot. Oh and you can go without raspberry pi for Wire Pod, that is if you have a linux machine. I have a notebook with ubuntu and it works great with vector. Windows doesn't work unfortunately but if you have a spare computer or perhaps willing to switch to linux instead of windows (which I don't really recommend as your main OS for daily tasks, unless you really love working your way around compatibility issues), you can still use wire pod on vector without having to purchase a raspberry pi.
@@glassowlie It seems that now it will even work on windows machines. So yes, you can do it with a linux machine or even a windows machine. Previously the windows option was very buggy and for some time it totally stopped working. So in a nutshell, if you have a pc or notebook with windows/linux, head over to github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation and it should work.
I'm here in this step at 8:51 but the download takes long. It looks like it's not moving. My vector shows a cloud with rotating arrow and green charging lights

Probably a fresh new session on chrome should do the trick. So either end the chrome process from task manager, or restart it. If that still doesn't work then maybe the history up till the point when you first accessed it should be deleted. But simply reboot and try again. If the bot does not wanna communicate just hold his on/off button for a while when he is on till he shuts down and goes back on again (that way you will bring him to the basic firmware). Good luck!

Sorry for the late reply. I'm having an extremely busy life this year working 16 hours a day literally :))). You should first look at the logs and check the result. And from there we could try and pinpoint the issue. Could be a server related issue or a microphone array one. You can find vector parts online easily. There is a site callled robotparts.com i think or something which sells parts for vector and cozmo.
I just did so today. The ota that I have in the description works just fine. I reset my bots, my raspberry and did everything from scratch. They updated WirePod and now it's super easy and more stable. Just read my description as I updated it. Have fun!
Hello. I have set this up numerous times and always seem to get to the activation stage but then it gives me an error logging in. Vector has a phone symbol with a flashing V on screen. Any suggestions as to what i have missed would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and Greetings from Aus.
Did you keep its back button pressed for enough time till the first led went blue on its back? try and lift the arm and see what it will do, if it's going to show you firmware, ip ... his status basically. You can connect it to the phone app, bring the firmware up to the newest one (DDL) then when it's all loaded and functional, retry to set his firmware using wire-pod web setup. what error logging in does it show? Anyhow, normally you should keep its back button pressed, 2 leds will go dark blue, then after a few seconds his head will lift up and you will get something like anki.com/v or something... after that double press its button and he will go into pairing mode. Good luck!
Thank you for the quick reply. i have set it up as you did and put the 1.8 firmware in. i have also set it up automatically and it puts 2.0.1.6076ep firmware in. What you described above i have done many times putting into restore mode. Running keriganc setup site, it pairs, connects to wifi, does its cloud thing and ends at activation. there it errors. The Pi says wire-pod started successfully, and on another computer i am able to access by the IP and by escape pod:localhost. On the screen is a phone with flashing V symbol. This seems to be as far as i can get. To use the phone app, says i have to have an DDL account which i don't have. Now at a loss. @@tiberiumaxim
To run it using DDL server you create an account when you install the vector app on your phone and connect your bot to it (I don't know if they still run their servers or how well everything works for them, I've all my bots on wirepod). To use wire pod, there's no such thing as account, you just install wirepod (now you can use it even on windows machines, just check out github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation for more info).
You can in theory just use a pc having either linux or windows (and you'll have to basically install linux on windows), if you don't want to use something dedicated for him like a raspberry pi. All the details of how to get it running on pc are on github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation .But for the best experience I recommend a raspberry pi if you can get one.
Am super multe pe cap in perioada asta. 1. Pui robotelul in charghing dock si tii apasat butonul on/off vreo 30 secunde (cu el pornit.. se va inchide si apoi dupa o lunga perioada o sa reporneasca). In felul asta ai facut reset de firmware. Dupa ce esti in web setup dai pair with vector. O sa iti apara codul pe robotel, il pui in chrome. Acum esti in consola. Dai wifi connect SSID PASSWORD (ssid= numele retelei tale, password= parola ta) si enter. 4. Bagi ota-start wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota 5. 6. Succes!😀

Hello. If you've followed all the steps, namely keeping the on/off button on the vector pressed for about 10-15 seconds then double pressing the button to go into pairing mode and going to vector web setup link on your computer, I can only think of the browser that you use, and here I recommend chrome. And in chrome you should enable "experimental web platform features" by typing "chrome://flags" in the url bar. From there I recommend enabling most bluetooth related flags. And it should probably work. I hope this helps, and let me know if the problem still persists. Also give as much detail as possible to help us pinpoint the exact issue. Good luck!😀

Hello. So on the wire pod setup web page, after connecting, you should input your SSID and password. If that bounces back, I can only think about the fact that maybe you have one or more spaces in your SSID. I recommend using SSID without space in them. make sure you run the lines correct for wifi connect and status and so on. Other than that, unless you're wifi is 5ghz i don't really know any other possible issue. Hope you will solve it. Good luck!

@@losegood3432 You don't have to change the port. I was just asking if perhaps you changed the port or something during installation by mistake. Please read the video description as well as the guide from github, and make sure you follow every step. Hello! great video, I have 2 quick questions.
But for wirepod, they made it very simple and easy to use nowadays, just check github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation
As for the OTA, yes, you can switch back to the DDL one, or even downgrade it to the older OTA's (in case of older bots). So no worries about OTA or how you run wire pod anymore.
It will not update the firmware on mine. It is jus stuck and the progress bar is not moving. Help anybody?

Hi: Do you have to actually buy the Rasberry Pi machine or is this a matter of downloading the Rasberry OS on a SD card?
P.S. If your web interface does not work with the bot, you need to do the following steps:
In order to be able to configure vector (by going to your ip and port e.g.

1) if i want to use the vector app, with this update i cant, right?
2)can i go back to his original firmware to use the app?
3)with this update, will face ricognition, fist bumps, play with the cube, alexa... Work?
1. Yes (however, you can control and customize vector through wirepod)
2. Yes
3. Yes

@@reynov8-homeandgarden It's good that you mentioned that. Currently, the windows wire-pod is not working, hopefully that will change. So you should go instead for either a raspberry pi or perhaps a machine on which you can put linux (ubuntu or debian). So yes, as of now, wire pod only works on linux machines or pi os ones. Sorry to bring up the bad news, it also says on the github of wire pod... But hey, maybe you can use a linux computer instead.
Thank you so much for posting this!
Any chance of us getting ChatGPT linked with vector? That would be insane!
With pleasure! There's one dude that's working on this feature. Not really sure how and when it'll be available but here's his channel if you're interested in ... www.youtube.com/@vectorgpt/featured
Yeah you can simply enter your API key in the web-interface of your server, under the 'Knowledge Graph' section. Works like a charm!
Hello!
I have the Vector robot but I can't get it to work.
I did all the steps in the video.

@@dinkodinev4055 Vector will automatically detect the cube when it looks at it. Those alien like drawings on the cube are actually patterns that are defined in vector's "brain", so when he sees the cube, depending on how it is facing the bot, he will interact with it in one way or another. The cube communicates with vector on bluetooth i think
Hello! Does this works on the vector 2.0?
Yeah
When I get to the bluetooth key section, I pressed Pair With Vector but nothing is happening. Vector's screen has the key with the "######" but nothing happens when I click Pair With Vector
Are you using chrome for the web setup? Also, you have to enable bluetooth flags on your chrome browser (i think you already did that). Did you first long press the on/off button on vector to get him in the right pairing mode for wire-pod? There's certainly something that is not done the proper way. But check the chrome bluetooth flags first. www.thewindowsclub.com/bluetooth-device-permissions-in-chrome

@@jelliot1014 If you can wait a little I'll test the web setup this evening when I get back home to see what's going on. Maybe a server issue tho I doubt it, but I'll check it out...
So I tested the escape pod web setup and it works ok. When you connect the bot, untick the automate setup, then type wifi-connect (your ssd) (your passwor) without the brackets, then it'll take a few seconds and finally you'll get a connected wifi state. After this, type ota-start wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota
The ota will then be loaded on the bot and that's pretty much it. It works...
Hi guys can you help my with the set up for knowledge graph, or send a video how to do it ?
Do I need to purchase the $99.99 Escape Pod for Vector on Digital Dream Labs website before attempting this?
Nope. This is the free alternative to escape pod.
Is a resparry pi Touchscreen 4 also compettible with vector?
Hey,
At the time, the windows through wsl was messed up and actually the developer of wirepod disabled support for windows, leaving only pios or linux as options. Nowadays things have improved it seems, and you can install wirepod on windows github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/releases/tag/v1.1.2
I just saw this new update and I think I'll check it out these days. But yes, now you can install it on windows it seems.
😃
@@tiberiumaxim Cool! Though I’m not going to install it on WSL (I have a Linux server) I thought it would be nice to know if you could. Thanks for replying!
do you have to pay for it, or do it while their servers are up like the ddl server?
Wire pod is free.
Hi mate when you are downloading the wire pod off git hub, is that a free version of it or do i still need to buy the escape pod from ddl? this might be a dumb question but i have no idea lmao
Hey there. It's totally free...
@@tiberiumaxim okay thank you, also when installing the ota link how long does this normally take. ive left mine like 30mins and nothing else has happened so far
Where do you buy a rasberry machine? Do you have to connect it to a monitor and keyboard? You didn't put that in the links.
I bought mine from farnell.com
You can search online for stores in your country/location and find the best deal for you.
I have tried { } [ ] ' ' and " "
The only thing I know of is to rename the SSID. I don't know if there is a way around this issue, and I never tried to see. Sorry 😞
In the end I setup a guest area on my router with a single SSID name@@tiberiumaxim
Update: vector was not properly in recovery mode! Ota is now downloading
Actually I'm new to this, just wonder is it i able to work with it without buying escape pod from ddl?
Yes, this method is a free one. If you don't want to buy a raspberry you can either go for a linux or windows machine. Just read all the steps at github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation and you should be alright.
Hello!!! Have you try it with Raspberry pi Zero 2W?
Hello. I haven't tried with Zero. If it's going to work at all, it will probably be very slow. I recommend at least pi3 though, but why not try with zero2w if you have one.
Hiya, do you know if it’s possible to get rid of the “I have a question” bit like in latter DDL firmwares? Thanks
My terminal is not username@escapepod. Did yours just pull up that way or do I need to change directory or something?
Hello. So if you look at the beginning when setting up the raspberry OS, you have a set host name option. Your hostname has to be escapepod.local
The user name does not matter what you input there, but the host name for the server needs to be escapepod.local
You can rename your hostname on your pi like this:
Open the /etc/hosts file for editing. sudo nano /etc/hosts.
Never mind! Figured it out :)@@tiberiumaxim Thank you for all your help
Can I use a T95 mini?

I can download it from that link as well as the German site but the progress bar never goes ahead. Testing the firmware update for 1.6 on the german site, it works fine.
But I'll let you know, maybe put a link here with a working ota for wirepod. Keep in touch!

so has this been updated since? My vector is stuck on his activation screen because the ota is not updating even tho i put in the link you said to put in, and i cant figure out how to open the actual Raspbery Pi desktop screen
Can I connect a raspberry pie and do all the steps like GitHub and everything for vector on a laptop or do I need a monitor?
The hdmi or vga socket on a laptop is for transmitting data while on a monitor is for receiving. So you'd need a monitor, tv or something that can connect to raspberry pi. The connection on the pi I think it's micro hdmi. So probably if you have a monitor you'd need a micro hdmi to hdmi cable. I for instance took the display from an old notebook and made a standalone monitor out of it. But for that, you'd need a screen controler.
thank you so much I bought a mini hdmi monitor
It’s coming today
And also will a 64 gb sd card work fine
hi i am getting an error where it is saying no such file directory for a fuction but i have followed the instructions. It is occuring after chosing VOSK.

So, when you go for wifi-connect do you use this exact line: *wifi-connect yourSSD yourPassword*
... in which yourSSD = the name of your network and yourPassword is your password.
It is impossible to print out Unknown, unless you didn't type in the correct network (idk... spelling or something). I would try and check the spelling of the command line both for ssd and password.
@@tiberiumaximif your wifi/password have spaces in the names, will it not be able to connect? Example: “My WiFi Name” and “My WiFi Password”?

Also, can this be done on a Chromebook?
Never tried chromebooks. It works on linux, windows and android that's for sure.
Would this also work on something like a orange pi? or something similar
or even something like a raspberry pi 3?
If the orange pi supports ubuntu/debian and has the minimum reqs for wire pod then it should work.
stuck on connecting to the wifi.
Good luck!
try wifi-connect "SS ID" "Password"

@@tiberiumaximHow can you do it without a Raspberry Pi?
@@glassowlie It seems that now it will even work on windows machines. So yes, you can do it with a linux machine or even a windows machine.
Did you ever get the chance to look at and validate the 1.8 ota file?
I just did so today. The ota that I have in the description works just fine. I reset my bots, my raspberry and did everything from scratch. They updated WirePod and now it's super easy and more stable. Just read my description as I updated it. Have fun!
Doesn't matter what kind of raspberry pi I need?
At least 3, I would recommend pi4 though...
When it says wire pod turned on successfully will vector turn on automatically or do I have to turn him on, if so what do I have to do to turn him on
Started successfully*
6. Enable the server to run automatically at startup using:
- cd ~/wire-pod
- sudo ./setup.sh daemon-enable
- sudo systemctl start wire-pod

I bought a vector robot but I can even create and account do you have any suggestions?
To run it using DDL server you create an account when you install the vector app on your phone and connect your bot to it (I don't know if they still run their servers or how well everything works for them, I've all my bots on wirepod). To use wire pod, there's no such thing as account, you just install wirepod (now you can use it even on windows machines, just check out github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation for more info).
Thanks I’ll check. The app doesn’t work.
Bought him, can i connect or alive him without raspberry pi?
You can in theory just use a pc having either linux or windows (and you'll have to basically install linux on windows), if you don't want to use something dedicated for him like a raspberry pi. All the details of how to get it running on pc are on github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation .But for the best experience I recommend a raspberry pi if you can get one.
Comanda exacta este fix ota-start wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota
Am super multe pe cap in perioada asta.
1. Pui robotelul in charghing dock si tii apasat butonul on/off vreo 30 secunde (cu el pornit.. se va inchide si apoi dupa o lunga perioada o sa reporneasca). In felul asta ai facut reset de firmware.
Dupa ce esti in web setup dai pair with vector. O sa iti apara codul pe robotel, il pui in chrome.
3. Acum esti in consola. Dai wifi connect SSID PASSWORD (ssid= numele retelei tale, password= parola ta) si enter.
4. Bagi ota-start wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota
6. Succes!😀
@@tiberiumaxim Salut ! Intre timp am reusit sa ii fac update. Prima data nu a miscat nimic in progress bar, la a doua incercare mi-a crapat update-ul cu "status 219" care din ce am inteles de pe net ar fi "Other Exception" -> Other unexpected, undefined error while transferring OTA file, iar a treia incercare a fost cu succes 🙂 Maine dim ma apuc sa configurez serverul pe raspberry. Multumesc mult pentru detalii si promptitudine😎
@@tgs3633 Misto! Succes!👍
Have you managed to fix the back battery indicator ?
Umm there's no issue with the battery indicator on my vector.
Last moment of vector :(
I hope not :))
i have done every step, it says that wire pod is all successful and working but the robot keeps a phone icon on his screen
I can’t really help you with your issue, but I’m just curious, did you just get this set up today? I’m wanting to know if it works right now before I begin.
It should not give phone icon if the correct ota was uploaded. What I recommend is to make sure you did the ota installation correctly, also you could check his ota by double pressing his button on the back and raising his arm then lowering it, and you can see if the ota corresponds with the one needed for wire-pod. Best of luck out there!😀
I have just purchased vector and the servers are down
I now have a robot that is stuck in set up
How do I fix this and make use of all functionality
I currently don’t have a raspberry pi
I do own a windows machine but new to all this.
Is there anyone who would be able to help me
The robot doesn’t move or anything it’s just stuck on
Anki/v & if I press twice on the button it gives me a key symbol
Here's the installation guide for wire-pod. There is also the windows option, you just have to read it carefully and follow the steps and it should work github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation
Good luck!
Hello
Question? Do I need Pi os for it to work?
@@joelate1705 Hey! Now you can use linux, pi os, windows and i think android also. So it's not pi only anymore.

Please can you explain the steps please my good sir.

I am having trouble downloading raspberry pi on windows any suggestions?

Why there is a knowlegegraph for OpenAI but when I put in my key its not working...

Now I cancelled the ota but now it doesn't show the section (auto setup box) on the pairing screen for vector. Not updating. Rebooted several times and tried many times but no use. Any suggestions?
I cant connect vector to my Bluetooth to get the password
Good luck!😀
Hey man, thanks for the video!
I bought a used Vector and was trying to get it back to life.
got a Pi4 4gb only does it works as well?
Also i cant get it to connect to my wifi on website terminal.
I type network password and ot comes back as wifi state unknown every time. =(
Any sugestions? thanks!
Good luck!
Hi, i am running this set up today and i have followed the steps on the wirepod set up to step 5. When i run the cmd with chipper it doesnt work. It can not find the directoy piece. How do i fix this? Everything else looks exactly the same for me

Hey was just wondering as its making me go insane has anyone else had the problem of it not asking what connection i wanna use it hasnt given me one and it tries to get me to got to 192.168.0.116:8080 but the site doesnt load and so vector doesnt work any solution i would be very greatfull
so wire pod has a certain IP (probably 192.168.0.116 for you) and a specific port opened to access it, (default :8080). Try and ping the server 192.168.0.116 and see if it responds. Other than that, did you change the default port from 8080 to something else when you installed wire pod? What machine are you using wire pod on?
@@tiberiumaxim I'm using a raspberry pi 4
@@tiberiumaxim I'm using the raspberry pi4 and I'm not sure how to change the port?
@@losegood3432 You don't have to change the port. I was just asking if perhaps you changed the port or something during installation by mistake. Please read the video description as well as the guide from github, and make sure you follow every step. This address 192.168.0.116:8080 you mentioned is actually a local address on your raspberry pi. It should open up the web interface from where you can set a few features on vector. If it doesn't open, something went wrong during the installation process.
@@tiberiumaxim alright well I'll do another fresh install and follow everything step by step again so I'll put the results in here
