Going to be honest here: that relationship has some foundation issues. I worked as a manger full time while going to college and just graduated (11 years) debt free. My wife (girlfriend back then) had a full ride and I wanted to make sure she graduated without worrying about housing. We loved in a 700 square foot apartment for $650. As a teacher, it all comes from the state. Based on teacher salaries in Texas (was considering moving there), they’re doing a lot better than other states. Texas cost of living is much lower and it also helps that there’s no state income tax
@@ChrisW228 this is only in certain school districts in Texas. Some school districts will give you a bigger pay bump based on testing but you still increase salary from year to year no matter what’s
Teacher here! There’s a lot of reasons we get paid so little but the main ones are 1. It’s a field that’s predominantly women (esp elementary) 2. Education pay has not caught up to the cost of living in large cities because it simply can’t. I’m in atlanta and it’s dismal. I make the same as her but homes here start at 250/275k very easily.

The most infuriating thing about teacher salaries is that most are Masters trained educators. With the expectation that you're child's teacher have a graduate degree to provide the best education they should be paid accordingly. Graduate degrees are expensive and a lot of hard work.
I was so shocked at her attitude to her partner right in an interview. no one wants a partner to be complacent and stop trying, don't know the details but I'm guessing it was a stressful time for him and in a situation where it could be difficult to find work then the added stress of his partner saying wellllp don't get comfortable...

@@joyaustin6581 I suspect moving states meant he couldn't claim unemployment when his job start date was pushed back to October because he would have no work history in Texas.
I am currently a teacher in Oklahoma, so I can actually offer a little bit of perspective on teacher wages in this scenario: Before the teacher walkouts, the $34,000 salary WAS pretty much unlivable for the vast majority of working teachers. Even though the cost of living is extremely cheap here, I can tell you that most teachers I knew were either living with parents or with multiple roommates. Between the student loan debt and the low wages, we ALL had multiple jobs in order to keep a roof over our heads. At the time, moving to Dallas ensured that many of us could just... teach and have our own apartments. I will say that after the walkouts, teachers in the state got a raise between $8-10,000. Things are MUCH better here now, and many teachers I know are now living a better existence.
She ripped her boyfriend a new one during this segment. If he's been unemployed until October this year, how long were they together? What was he doing before? Maybe she shouldn't let him move in with her, or maybe she shouldn't have had him for a boyfriend. We don't know enough about him only her perspective. We're in no position to judge this man. He lost he job in Jan, pre Covid. He’s a bum lol. I live in Dallas and he can get a job at UPS, FedEx, Target, Walmart etc if he wanted to
Her intentions by not having him be complacent, I can agree with. There's just no need to put it on video, out there for everyone to see. She should've kept it personal. That was dirty! Shaking my head!

As a teacher, it all comes from the state. Based on teacher salaries in Texas (was considering moving there), they’re doing a lot better than other states. Texas cost of living is much lower and it also helps that there’s no state income tax
I taught a long time ago, and part was also based on student performance on standardized testing. Is that still part of it?
Yes there’s no state income tax but we have one of the highest property tax rates.
@@ChrisW228 this is only in certain school districts in Texas. Some school districts will give you a bigger pay bump based on testing but you still increase salary from year to year no matter what’s
@@Demahevans Thank you for the reply. :)
Why is she talking about her boyfriend that way so publicly? I’m totally for people making sure they aren’t taken advantage of but damn. She could’ve said “he lost his job and was unemployed until recently so I was paying for all of our stuff - I’m hoping he keeps pushing himself and gets more opportunity so that we can get back to a half and half situation and I’ll be able to save more”
It gets the same point across without harping on the fact that you think your boyfriend is lazy and complacent. yikes.
Maybe she genuinely wanted to breakup and thought it would be a good idea to break up through Millennial Money. I mean come on that would be a first and probably the most remarkable way to break up lol
Motivation 😂😂😂😂😂
I agree that what she said wasn't any of our business or her place to share. If he's not collecting unemployment he prob quit his job or hasn't had one in a while.
In the old days all our ancestors needed was health, strength and food and a place to stay and they were happily married.

The most infuriating thing about teacher salaries is that most are Masters trained educators. With the expectation that you're child's teacher have a graduate degree to provide the best education they should be paid accordingly. Graduate degrees are expensive and a lot of hard work.
Sounds like they should have found a trade
I was so shocked at her attitude to her partner right in an interview. no one wants a partner to be complacent and stop trying, don't know the details but I'm guessing it was a stressful time for him and in a situation where it could be difficult to find work then the added stress of his partner saying wellllp don't get comfortable...
Interviewer probably asked her a directed question for dramatic flairs.

I enjoyed the "Mad Minute!" We had something similar in grade school. 100 problems in I believe 1 or 2 minutes. If you finished the whole test in time (and accurately), you didn't have to participate in the next test, or at least it didn't count against you if you didn't get it perfect. I love math, so it was super enjoyable!
She wanna breakup just don't know how.... or she feels sorry for him
I can't imagine he would be cool with her roasting him on national television. She probably wouldn't do that if she felt sorry for him.
Probably her excuse to justify breaking up with him
I really hope Boyfriend Guy comes back on with you to air out his side of the relationship story 😂
I wonder if he had a setback in moving for her
@@joyaustin6581 I suspect moving states meant he couldn't claim unemployment when his job start date was pushed back to October because he would have no work history in Texas.
I am currently a teacher in Oklahoma, so I can actually offer a little bit of perspective on teacher wages in this scenario:
Before the teacher walkouts, the $34,000 salary WAS pretty much unlivable for the vast majority of working teachers.
She had to see something special in him if she let him move in her home. Utilities are high probably because the boyfriend is home most of the time.
they were together for 2 years and met in OK. he moved to dallas to live with her.

Speaking generally, $60k per year (often with a full pension in many states) is hardly a raw deal in the vast majority of the country, not to mention powerful tenure agreements in many cases
The difference is that many of these teachers don't have the same advancement opportunities for their salaries that many other people in their "corporate" professions.
Also I'll say a majority of pension funds are not fully funded. Even Texas is only at 80%

If you love relationship money drama the “I will teach you how to be rich” podcast is a gem. I love judging the couples on there.
I would be horrified if my partner said something like that about me for the world to hear. Why is she not concerned about helping her significant other back on his feet.
She‘s working to teach kids in school und to pay the bills why does she have to help him get on his feet? I mean he‘s a grown man its not to much to ask that he at least looks for a new job what ever that may be in a pandemic. Maybe he doesn‘t really look for a new job and blames the pandemic ?
@@MK-is4xm Your right that could be a factor, it wasnt specified. What i had understood was that he lost his job and was having trouble finding a new one due to covid, not that he had no standing beforehand. There is never a reason to speak like that about your partner on public platform. If she was confiding in her friend or relative that she found his position irksome that would be different. If we can't depend on our significant others to build us up and support us (in more ways than just financially) at times like then we live in a very sad world indeed.
