3:22 Why is the boyfriend doing nothing for 7 months from February to September 2020? He could at least do food deliveries or deliver packages for Amazon.
You read my mind. He could have easily made 37K doing Amazon Flex in Dallas. They stay busy in that market, and have gotten busier during the pandemic.

Thank you CNBC for giving me an opportunity and platform to speak on how I manage my finances. 💰 It’s easy to form judgements from a short video, so I am thankful for the support that viewers have shown in understanding my situation, especially given how distastefully I spoke about my financial frustrations. 2020 was crazy for everyone on top of life having ups and downs. 🎢 We’re both very fortunate to be employed, healthy, and happy. 🙌🏼🙏🏻 Hope everyone’s 2021 is off to a positive start! 💫

Right ! out here telling allllllll Andrews tea. It was like she used this opportunity to vent on the stuff that she was fedup with, in-regards to her man ... on accident 😂😂😂
I personally believe that as well however - she was chosen/agreed to do a public segment regarding her finances and life: that involves her relationship and partner. I do believe, at least from what I've witnessed in this video - that she deserves an equal partner in all things and it doesn't look like it's Andrew but alas that is her life and choice. The average house price for BC Canada (but this does NOT reflect prices of the houses in downtown Vancouver that are astronomical) is $750,000 😭 and that’s nothing particularly nice or fancy. Just an average outdated home . It’s INSANE

Haha but she shouldn’t had to put him on the spot, like there is a whole population who lost their jobs because of this pandemic as long he is actively looking for a job.. she is lucky to still working in this pandemic.
@@Graciesyaya no, she doesn't have a master's degree. She also spends time correcting the students ' homework and creating lesson plans. She has to do Those extra hours at home.
What’s the point of showing a “monthly budget” that includes a huge one-time expense wisdom teeth removal? If she spent that much every month she’d be going into debt at a wicked clip. Also, her $155,000 house is not an asset; only her equity in it is. Considering she just bought that house this year, pretty much the only equity she has is her down payment, plus any appreciation.
@@sjohnny8221 No. As I said, her equity in the house is an asset. The house itself is a liability. Even if it didn’t have a mortgage on it, the house would still cost money (because of maintenance, property taxes, utilities, etc.). If you think real estate is an asset just by virtue of it being real estate, then I have a bridge to sell you.
@@drewconway7135 Actually you’re wrong. You forgot one of the most important parts of real estate, and that’s the fact that it appreciates in value. Also, an asset is anything that holds an economic value (which is a house). As I just said the house is the asset, the mortgage is the liability. That’s why when you subtract mortgage from the value of the house you get the equity. Which is the accounting equation Assets-Liabilities= Equity. Don’t mind me, I just have an accounting degree.
@@MiguelRPD Oh, please! Haven't you ever read the RUclips comment section before?! You are right, the comments would be worse if the roles were reversed.

There is a difference between brutally exposing a love one in front of the world as lazy + worthless and being honest. World wide 95% of women don’t pay rent , men do . Imagine men doing what she did !
@月光 , unemployed modern women don’t do none of what you are saying , traditional women do . They stay at home but can’t cook ( never learned) ordering through Uber with their men money . But , you won’t see their men exposing them like this , men’s don’t do that ( I never seen a man do that in my life time ) . Now I understand why men find “ strong women’’ with PHD and career unattractive and masculine . If , they pay more than you pay for rent , the whole entourage and neighbors will know !
We all learn the hard way, sometimes, and during real time. I wish her the best of luck (I do hope she reads these comments though and that they provide some outside insight/perspective!)
I definitely have thoughts about this episode lol. First, I love everything she’s done for herself throughout her life so far. It’s clear she works hard, values saving, and is pushing herself to do some things she really enjoys and teaching. As a fellow educator, I respect the grind and dedication. With all that said, she literally laid out a very compelling case for leaving her boyfriend lol. If they can work things out and stay together, even after his being “complacent,”good. If he didn’t have a wake up call already, this video definitely is one for him.
Mine is in that ballpark as well, and I bought a house last month! You can do it! There’s a RUclipsr named Shaheedah Hill who’s a realtor and is really helpful. Check her page out.
Literally no. Maybe you went to school in the 60s but today's teachers fully take advantage of the fact that they cannot be fired. They are not performing anymore, they're barely teaching kids anything
I'm actually pleasantly surprised at her income with so little teaching experience. Everyone complains about how little teachers make so that's a higher salary than I pictured for a young school teacher.
the double standards y'all have are insane. We're in a pandemic with all time highs of unemployment rates. And he's a bum for not being able to contribute financially? Couldn’t agree more. For me her character is in question if you could so shamelessly disrespect your partner like that regardless of what his current contribution is to the household. If it’s such a problem let him go but deal with it in private. I know if it were her, she would not have wanted him to do her like that.
@@pierrehenry3483 I don't know if her character was in question. I'm sure the producer has a lot to say when it comes to what is covered in the episode. Probably wanted to focus on how Covid has affected a teacher and in her case, how it's affected her living situation and how her income is carrying the load. I mean, that's the whole focus of this series is how they manage their income. Her income was supporting two people unfortunately. I agree, it comes across looking bad but I think it was just bad delivery. I also agree with everyone else though, Andrew needs to (and should have a long time ago) step up.
I was thinking the same thing...let him go! I don't think she said one good thing about him. A woman that's down will have more encouraging words for her man. I think she is indifferent! Let him go so he can find himself.
A man/woman should never be told to do something. Even if he had zero dollars, he could have made a plan to make a payment once employed again. The fact that she HAD TO, means that he was ok relying and using her, essentially. If he had the money, which he did, why didn't he make an effort to support the finances, while living in her home?
@@dayvidsdays5644 yeah maybe. All the while is savings remains the same and her bills keep coming. Idk how one can even think to live in someone's home and not contribute. Sounds like she paid for more than the bills too.

It's a crime that career in teaching is associated to lower wages and less "prestigious" than other careers in the US. Having an education system with great teachers is the key to really investing in our future generation. I am sure that if you ask anyone who is somewhat successful, they can pinpoint to one or two teachers that really made a huge impact in their life
It’s not a crime at all, the requirements to be a public school teacher is not very high. If teachers want higher salaries, requirements to become a teacher should be raised as well.
@@Zeus-qr7ol it is low because otherwise no one can be a teacher... my husband is Columbia university with English education graduate and he is NYS certified teacher, guess what the salary for him in NYC public school? Around 40k... You cannot even live a regular life in NYC. So he gave up on education... higher salaries attracts higher qualified people
@@yangyangnezin208 That is exactly a type of degree I mean that is not marketable. English is not a marketable degree, unfortunately. This is the type of degree that fulfills a teacher position. The university does not matter as much as the type of degree pursued.
@@Zeus-qr7ol it’s English education degree.. not English degree.. and no, I don’t agree with you. Teacher should be higher compensated. Why? They are the production factory of the next generation. If all people chose to do what you call “marketable degree” and teaching, which is not as easy as you think, there is very sophisticated method to it, not just reading slides...it would be an absolute social issue if no higher educated people going into education fields. And mind you, your “marketable degrees” also need teachers to teach....
Teaching 1+1=2 is not a very difficult job let’s keep it real. People that are successful in this country go out and get it themselves. Sorry but that’s the truth

Great video! I appreciate her honesty about sharing a space with a partner and navigating financial stressors. This comes up a lot in relationships and I think it’s important to name it.
Thank you Jessica for being supportive. I agree that couple finances are important to talk about even if it may be uncomfortable, although I do regret my poor choice of words on the situation. Life is full of surprises and as much as we all hope we’re going to contribute 50/50 at all times in a relationship, I believe there’s points and periods of time when one person may contribute more. I definitely think the outrage comes from male pride and belief in their responsibility of being the bread winner.
Great to see she's owning a home and a teacher! Teachers need more respect and value in our society. Off topic, shouldn't her house value be $10k+? She hasn't paid the full market value of the price.
@@ericshang7744 the detail wording in the video I saw was "Lani's Total assets". I wouldn't add that borrowed value over because if she did have to sell the property for some reason, she wouldn't get the full equity of the property
Teach For America is super-prestigious. They recruit the top college graduates--subject them to a battery of interviews--and drop them down in the most difficult teaching circumstances. The fact that she's doing this, well after the program ended, means she is a definitely 'in it to win it.' Most Teach For America people leave after their stint because they are easily drawn to corporate life. They're usually the best of the best. And with the added credential of Teach For America, they find it easy to move into a lucrative industry!
Way to go girl!! She's got her head on straight (salary expectations, home costs, being frugal, setting money expectations with loved ones, etc) . Love watching these stories! 💯
i mean she is really good . living frugally , living below her means and most importantly she is happy with her position and salary. i think graham would be 100% proud
Albeit the value of her house is $155,000, she still has a mortgage on it. I think it would be more beneficial/constructive to show the assets and liabilities, with the purpose of showing overall equity! There's two sides to a balance sheet :)
They should do a net worth section not an assets section. She has a house worth 155k but she only put down 10k and pays ~1200 a month. If you include her debt (mortgage), she's in the red.
Absolutely, the assets section is 100% deceptive at worst and stupid at best. No idea why someone doesn't see the fault in it. Might as well make it $1M asset is she has decided to buy a 10'x more expensive house smh that was a fail on their part
The LAST QUOTE she said was Very Good... " If you are Always looking towards the next thing, you will Never Feel Like you Have Enough"... Pursue Balance between the Two.
Marriage isn’t some magical place where all problems are fixed and healed. My cousins husband is just like this man and hasn’t been employed for 2 years
Im proud of her for paying off her student loans and doing her best to recover. I'm not going to bash her boyfriend b/c there's probably more to the story not like it's any of my business. It's been rough for everyone so I'll give him a leeway if he's trying to get a job. Just an advice for all my bros out there, if you don't have a lot of money, don't get into a relationship or marriage.
@@larrycoleman9513 You stay away from them b/c most of them will look down on you just for the fact that you make less than them. You might think I'm over reacting but the truth is that most women want to look up to men not the other way around. That's just the cold heart truth my friend. As a man, you should be independent and determined to pay back your student loans while working on your dreams and aspirations. Leave women alone for the majority of your 20s and 30s.
CNBC Make It should show “net worth” and cut out one time expenses in the monthly budget. Also, not sure why the $1,000 wasn’t included in the monthly budget. This would’ve made it easier to understand her finances. Still a great series though!
Dump the boyfriend. I understand a month or two covering his end but that fact that you guys don't have kids together you have no obligation to be providing for him if he's capable of working 🤷♀️ You need someone who you can be a power team with.
The amount of shade to her bf is why I'm in these comments lol. How y'all gonna live together and have a separate food budget?? Chile...let that man go.
The opposite situation also applies - imagine if she didn't live with him and then went straight onto marrying him: her money and earnings would be legally tied with him - YIKES.
Imagine agreeing to be in a video with your girlfriend and finding out they just showed pictures of you while she called you a bum for a few minutes. Ruin my whole day.
There's no way she lives within the city limits of Dallas. 150k will get you a small place in the middle of the ghetto maybe. Even in the south, living in a major city is not that affordable nowadays.
I see... but hey I’m from California and there’s a lot of people considering and/or actually moving to Texas so in a couple years the “ghettos” are gunna be worth something.
Pros: I like how this video above the others I have seen for this series presents a more realistic idea of financial matters: Honest relationship challenges surrounding gender roles and money, issues with insurance not covering the entire costs of a procedure, a salary that is not six figures and actually closer to the national average. Cons: There are inconsistencies as her actual budget after taxes should actually be almost $4000. Also, The wisdom teeth taking up a significant chunk of her budget does not represent her average spending since it should only happen once. The background of her paying off her student loans with her first job and her own initiative is inspiring. I also loved seeing how she works as a teacher within the constraints of the pandemic. More videos like this!
Thanks for being so positive and understanding Alexandria! 🤗 The budget shown was my spending for only the month of October, not my usual monthly budget (although some factors stay the same from month to month). I agree that it may have been presented in a confusing manner that suggested that it was my consistent monthly budget.
That relationship isn't gonna make it. He has to step up to the plate. She's gorgeous and she's smart. She can have her pick. Also, she's responsible. Like dude, you are going to lose out.
Even though she's happy with her salary, I'm not happy for her. We just do not pay our teachers enough in this country, sheesh! But regardless, she's still doing amazingly well for someone fresh(ish) out of college!
@@TheCreoleSon89 Yep. Relationship death sentence IMO. Doesn't matter how true it was, you don't say stuff like that and expect a relationship to last.
Great budget and story overall, the only issue I saw was that I would've liked her to put a bigger down payment on her house so that she didn't have to pay PMI. Now she is just throwing away a hundred (or couple hundred) dollars every month for nothing. And then obviously might need to get rid of her pet boyfriend lol.

We're talking about CNBC here mister. They're " specialists "....
Im glad your clarified that most people seem to think that a house is an asset in every situation.
Actually the home is an Asset, and the mortgage is the liability.

Just an advice for all my bros out there, if you don't have a lot of money, don't get into a relationship or marriage.
what about the women with a lot of money?
@@larrycoleman9513 You stay away from them b/c most of them will look down on you just for the fact that you make less than them. You might think I'm over reacting but the truth is that most women want to look up to men not the other way around. That's just the cold heart truth my friend. As a man, you should be independent and determined to pay back your student loans while working on your dreams and aspirations. Leave women alone for the majority of your 20s and 30s.
no I meant what about women without a lot of money. Thats what I meant.
Why not?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol right?? I was shocked by the separate food budget. Does he ask to borrow an egg ??
The thought him asking to borrow an egg ended me 😂😂😂
This lowkey me in the comments 😂 probably buying lots of processed foods
Ladies don't move in, you could end up married to an Andrew 😂😂😂
The opposite situation also applies - imagine if she didn't live with him and then went straight onto marrying him: her money and earnings would be legally tied with him - YIKES.
Yesssss this!!!
@@WOOAHthatshot bingo!
this is a smart girl, hope she drops Andrew and move up
Imagine agreeing to be in a video with your girlfriend and finding out they just showed pictures of you while she called you a bum for a few minutes. Ruin my whole day.
😂😂😂😂 dawg ain’t deserve that man
At least she didn't drop his last name. He'd be ruined for life.
@@paceline Yeah thank goodness it was only is picture, first name, and city
I wasn’t expecting the home to be that affordable, good for her 👍🏼
There's no way she lives within the city limits of Dallas. 150k will get you a small place in the middle of the ghetto maybe. Even in the south, living in a major city is not that affordable nowadays.
Yea I wish they said what neighborhood but I get while they don’t. Because the video is misleading.
Yeah, she definitely lives in a worthless part of town for $155 k
It's the south so that is common. It's not the north or west.
I see... but hey I’m from California and there’s a lot of people considering and/or actually moving to Texas so in a couple years the “ghettos” are gunna be worth something.
Graham Stephen: " *This Is MINE now* "
Pros: I like how this video above the others I have seen for this series presents a more realistic idea of financial matters: Honest relationship challenges surrounding gender roles and money, issues with insurance not covering the entire costs of a procedure, a salary that is not six figures and actually closer to the national average.
The boyfriend though, I am totally with her calling him out. I hope he finds his footing back financially.
She wants to feel empowered so she dates a pushover. That's why she won't leave, she doesn't want a confident man
I think she's doing really well! Can't wait for Graham to see this, but I see a bright future for her!
3br 2bd home, but just living with her bf? Time to have a 3rd roommate, at least one that pays.
#househacking for the win 🤗🤗
More like 2 roommates so she can live mortgage free..
Yea she should rent it to him and another person and move to another place, period lol
She's really killing it.
Thank you
It's a little odd to include a surprise expense like wisdom teeth removal in the monthly budget for October. Makes it seem like she makes $5K a month.
That threw me off too. I make the same as her and my monthly take home is not $5k, something is definitely off about that.
@@amberdove3638 I’m a teacher in Dallas and it’s not even 4K.
That relationship isn't gonna make it. He has to step up to the plate. She's gorgeous and she's smart. She can have her pick. Also, she's responsible. Like dude, you are going to lose out.
we don't know the situation. its easy to judge but everything in the video is from her perspective. im just saying we don't have the full picture.
Even though she's happy with her salary, I'm not happy for her. We just do not pay our teachers enough in this country, sheesh! But regardless, she's still doing amazingly well for someone fresh(ish) out of college!
Agreed
Why did she cook her boyfriend Like that on RUclips lmao
wait until Graham gets a hold of this!
@@snicholson8884 LMAO
LMAOOOOOOO!!! toasted him on an international forum. She could have left that part out of the story. kind of messy but I get it. lol
@@TheCreoleSon89 Yep. Relationship death sentence IMO. Doesn't matter how true it was, you don't say stuff like that and expect a relationship to last.
😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have this feeling the whole point of her agreeing to get featured on this video was just to get rid of her bf 😓
