Hi this is the girlfriend. I wanted to make it clear that I am a senior at Arizona State University finishing my bachelors of science in Applied biological sciences. I have been with clinton before he had this much money, so I love him with or without money. We split all shared costs minus the mortgage (I offered to pay, but this was Clinton’s choice to help me cut cost while I am in school). My sister katelin is only 19 and just moved in with us a couple months ago to get out of the small town we grew up in for opportunities here in Austin. She plans to get her own place when she starts school in August. Clinton is very kind to let us help her start a healthy adult life. The video does not explain our situation well, but It did explain how awesome clinton is. I am happy he can share his wonderful story. Thanks for watching.
Hey! He is a nice guy and It shows that you both are grateful for his support. My boyfriend paid for some of my education and rent for my last 3 semesters at uni. We had been together for 2 years and decided to move to the US. Because my immigration status I could only work 10 hours/week at university so he picked the tab. But as soon as I graduated and was able to get a good job I paid him every cent ( some cash and covered his rent for 1.5 years). At times I wished I didn’t have to, but I felt obligated to do it, mainly to honor his generosity. But I have always been extremely independent and while I do appreciated his support I don’t want to owe my success ( whatever that means) to anyone. We have been happily together 7 years . Good luck to you guys ( he is a keeper for sure 😉).

People really underestimating Austin’s growth. City has over 40 skyscrapers planned for construction, billionaires and their companies setting up shop and moving every year, population is set to double by 2050. Im I’m DFW now but I hope Austin can get proper infrastructure to support the future and not just Houstonize building highway after highway after highway.
@@hymnmccoll4215 Houston has the worst traffic in Texas and somewhere in top 10 for worst in the nation despite having worlds widest freeway. They seem to be stuck in a mindset where more lanes = less traffic and it creates a typical concrete jungle with endless sprawl and no natural sites.
It's sick to see how Austin has grown so much in the last 30 years or so, i was last there in 1988, and yeah I could tell there was a vibe in the air and pretty much a hip place to be and a big college town, and that was before DELL Computer Co. blew up in the 90's, but they still had a tiny, outdated airport and really only 1 interstate, I-35, and the traffic was heavy at times... OMG! I can't imagine what the traffic is like today? Fughed about it!
Clinton was my mentor when we both worked at Amazon. I feel so lucky to have been influenced by him... It was great to watch this video and see how he's doing now!
270k a year at 26 years old is just completely surreal.... 1% tax as well in texas? And that at 6:43 is not "Modding" it's literally selling an illegal bot
Is this guy really making a $270K annual salary as a software engineer? And he's only got 4 years of experience. In 1986, my first job out of college w/ a BSCS as a software engineer paid $27K at a large defense contractor in a northeast US metro area, and I thought I hit the lottery!
Yea, I am very thankful for this job. I was making about half of this when I got my first job from College. Moff is also right, I have heard stories from some companies being much, much larger than my salary. Depends on how many hours the company expects you to work and the cost of living of where they require you to live.
@@moff_gideon Google is NOT one of the lower-paying tech companies. What in the world? Vast majority of software engineers aren't making that with 4 years of experience. Most aren't even making half that.
He adapted code for a tree-cutting bot to fish on runescape and sold it to friends for $30k in highschool. What a legend. 3 months of living expenses is kind of dicey for a guy with 630k mortgage. Bump it up to 12 months and he'd be bulletproof.
I've considered but with credit lines and the job market I feel comfortable that I could figure out how to live until Robinhood and WeBull transfer my sold stocks
What an interesting insight into Clinton's lifestyle and financial situation! It's great to see how someone in their mid-twenties can achieve such success. Living near Austin while enjoying the space and comfort of a home in Pflugerville sounds like a dream setup. I'd love to hear more stories like this across all age groups!
At first I was kinda jealous (being 30, living in central Ohio and making $40k - aka paycheck to paycheck despite having a bachelor's degree 🙃), but he is such a genuine person! So smart, so fun, so realistic, so caring for his girlfriend, her sister, friends & loved ones -the list could go on and on. How can you not like this guy?! Plus the shirts are on point! And an OSU Buckeye?! You deserve everything you have worked for & have ever dreamed of achieving!!! Thank you for the words of advice, Clinton! 😁👍🏼
You can tell he has a big heart & I love that he seems genuinely happy. So work doesn’t feel like work. I don’t think it’s smart to have his girlfriend and her sister living with him though.
Exactly. If it were his fiancé or something, I could see it. Don’t allow the sister to come in though. Dude is nice, but remember the saying for “Nice Guys”. I hope he’s not getting taken advantage of.
Love this man’s story! God bless you! And some of these comments are absolutely unnecessary- especially about his girlfriend and how he spends HIS MONEY (How many of you are financial advisors?) There are certain things as soon as you think them, keep them in your head and move on👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
This might be the worse episode of millenial money ever. Not just because the millenial was super cringe. But this was such a poorly edited and constructed episode. There was no info at all. Just vague mentions of details of his life and none of it was shown to the viewers. Go back to showing every dollar in and out. This episode was a joke.
I can see how it can be seen as bizarre, the three of us have to be careful and regularly check-in with eachother to make sure to keep the whole situation in a healthy way :)
I was paying for everything when I was with my ex to help her get a career going, then after half a year passed when she got a hold of some money the first thing she did was go out and buy a 2nd vehicle instead of contributing. Never did understand that.
I lived in Austin for eight years so it's so cool to see folks move and succeed in places I'm so familiar with! But I wonder if this man ever worries, "What happens if I lose this Google job and the salary that goes along with it?" I don't want to take out a mortgage despite making ~$220k-240k as a travel nurse. It's because I always worry, "What if the rates drop and I can't find another job?"
Yea I definetly have those thoughts come through my head. That's part of the reasons I don't lock more of my money into a 401k with something like the mega back door. I'd rather have that money accessible for emergencies without the paperwork. Maybe not the best decision in the long run but it brings me comfort when I think about questions like this one. Good point :)
@@BlueCybertruck With the Mega Back Door, assuming that (heaven forbid) you did lose your job, wouldn't you just be able to roll that over into the Roth IRA? You could always take out a hardship loan off of that IRA should you need it. I had the same thought process as you since I've been maxing out my 401k annually for about five years or so now (I'm 33) but I realized that in a true, bona fide, emergency where I needed hundreds of thousands of dollars, I'd just cash it out (minus the early withdrawal penalties) anyway. With inflation, seems like we have no option other than to invest to ensure our money doesn't depreciate out.
The girlfriend needs more independence. She living under a paternalistic stipulation "or furthering herself" rather than setting her own boundaries. He's not your dad. And you're not married. If you break up, how will you support yourself? How will her sister support herself at 19 with no education in an expensive city like Austin? It just seems like her/her sister's financial stability is entirely contingent on this relationship, and while he seems nice enough, this level of codependence imo isn't healthy outside a legal commitment like marriage. (not to say marriage is for everyone, but she literally has no safety net if this relationship goes sour). If she can't afford her half of this lifestyle without him, she basically has no autonomy.
If she doesnt like it, she can find a $2,000k apartment to move into. She's living in a place nicer than she can afford on her own and all she has to do is "further herself"...how terrible. She and her sister are both adults, they are more than free to move out if they don't like the arrangement.
The girlfriend is basically ‘getting the bag’ for her and her sister. Kudos to them. They better not fumble it or get this simp to married ‘them’ like a package deal. He’s already supporting them like a ‘daddy’.
there are a lot of issues here - as a google employee, he is not paid $270k. maybe full package with RSUs, but base + bonus is not that high, esp at 26. also, if you really were making 270k, you can easily afford a house with more than 10% down and a car with almost all cash
He is absolutely being paid at least $270k per year, yes with the RSU amount (base+bonus+RSUs you’re given for that year). Maybe depending on when you joined, your RSU grant was lower than what it is now? Or maybe you’re on a lower ladder than him (he sounds like L5 given 3YOE at Amazon). From the video, you can tell he would rather invest his cash (higher returns) than sinking it into a depreciating asset like a car. Assuming he got his house when interest rates were lower, it was smarter of him to put the lowest amount down as possible in order to invest the rest.
You are completely right that the 270k includes base, bonus, RSU etc. and stock appreciation. I have super low rates on both my car and my house so putting that cash into the stock market has earned me quite a bit compared to paying down the loan quicker. My threshold for paying down loans is usually somewhere around 4%. Higher than that, I'd rather pay it down. Borrowing money from others for some safe investments at low rates is something I am quite grateful for.
Why would you want to put down more than 10% if you didn’t need to ? Same thing for the car…..by spreading out payments you can invest the money you save by not paying all up front
I relate to this guy a lot, but he's in a much better place in life than I am. Kudos to him! Hopefully he invests in his health so he may live a long life.
Thanks for moving to central Texas and obscenely inflating the cost of housing! It's doesn't decrease until one reaches Temple!-John in Austin (grew up in S. Texas)
Thanks, that's a good point. Yea, keeping those boundaries in place and appropriate to their life situations is going to be super important for me pretty soon when they move into their careers.

I love hearing about his big dreams he wants to self-fund. It's great seeing that salary going towards altruistic/entrepreneurial initiatives. Best of luck with the med bot!
I understand that the girlfriend and sister situation puts some people off but in reality if they are all on the same page, bettering themselves, and he’s happy to help then I don’t see an issue. If they are respectful of his home and stipulations then who cares? Some people have service minded hearts. They like to help people and that doesn’t necessarily make them naive. People can be very helpful and have boundaries at the same time. I think to often people confuse kindness with weakness. But that’s on them. I wish them the best (: - from a fellow Texan
@@definegaming640 No, you're saying that. I'm saying that just cause someone likes to help others it doesn't necessarily mean that they are naïve or don't know how to employ boundaries. Literally no where did I say anything about it being okay for people to take advantage of others with service minded hearts. But thank you for the insight into your mind.
Well said. I've had a similar arrangement with my wife for about 10 years. My earning power is over 5x hers, and retail jobs were killing her soul, so why on earth should she waste her life for money we don't need? We have no kids, live frugally, and we just flat out don't need the extra $30k/year she should could bring in. I told her I'd rather she pursue all of the creative endeavors she loves, make the most out of life, and financially we'll do just fine. A whole lot more to life than money.
The taco cat shirt though! The 1st thought really caught my attention. How are we learning to help people? I think education around money can be a big help to people.
I completely agree, sometimes the difference between meeting a goal and missing it is just knowing the right information. The cat shirts appreciate your comments too 🤣
I laughed so hard hearing him talking about building a RuneScape bot. It’s the same way that I got into programming and learning Java over 10+ years ago. It’s awesome to see someone who is a software engineer who has a similar story to me.
This below average looking and build guy has a BEAUTIFUL wife. That's what you call MONEY 💷 he runs that house like a King, took care of his girl AND his sister, if you can't respect that what can you respect?
The wealth you pass to the next generation can have a profound impact on your heirs, providing educational opportunities, the capital to start a business, or financial support to your grandchildren.
Consider maintaining a broad diversity of your investments to control investment risk, taking into account your own risk tolerance, time horizon, and the nature of your financial goal. Remember that diversity is a strategy for reducing investment risk. It doesn't take away the risk of losing money if securities prices fall. Working with a financial professional to guide you on your wealth-building journey is a good idea because investing may be confusing.
Although diversification does not guarantee against loss, yet it is the most important component of reaching long-range financial goals while minimizing risk..

City has over 40 skyscrapers planned for construction, billionaires and their companies setting up shop and moving every year, population is set to double by 2050. Im I’m DFW now but I hope Austin can get proper infrastructure to support the future and not just Houstonize building highway after highway after highway.
Completely agree, the city is struggling with the growth currently, we will see how we get through it.
Whats wrong with Houston? Houston has great infrastructure
@@hymnmccoll4215 I haven't visited Houston yet, should get out there sometime
Fughed about it!

quite common at faang
I was making $15k a year at 26
Is this guy really making a $270K annual salary as a software engineer? And he's only got 4 years of experience. In 1986, my first job out of college w/ a BSCS as a software engineer paid $27K at a large defense contractor in a northeast US metro area, and I thought I hit the lottery!
Yea and Google is actually one of the lower paying tech companies. I know people making 350-400k with that experience
Yea, I am very thankful for this job. I was making about half of this when I got my first job from College. Moff is also right, I have heard stories from some companies being much, much larger than my salary. Depends on how many hours the company expects you to work and the cost of living of where they require you to live.
1986 the min wage was also $3.35
@@moff_gideon Google is NOT one of the lower-paying tech companies. What in the world? Vast majority of software engineers aren't making that with 4 years of experience. Most aren't even making half that.
Lol did you really compare 1986 wages with 2022?
That’s cool you let your girlfriend and her sister live there and give them the chance to save up and pursue their dreams with that opportunity
If I attempted to sale anything I made to my friends in school, then I would have gotten suspended.
This guy comes across as very down to earth and humble. ❤️

basiclly this man has two wives
The "girlfriend and her sister" situation seems bizarre, especially considering that they don't pay any rent. Seems like they're leeching off of him
I can see how it can be seen as bizarre, the three of us have to be careful and regularly check-in with eachother to make sure to keep the whole situation in a healthy way :)
The key to love is providing your girlfriend and her sister with free rent. Everyone knows this.
Thought that was strange too
That Gigachad is banging both of them.
@@SamianHQuazi That's actually something I never fully thought through. I'll have to dig more into that. Thanks for the advice :)
You are not making 220-240k as a travel nurse. My sister is a BSN that covid travel nurse pay rate is no more.
@@alp.9672 OK if you say so.
Wow, this dude is such a great guy with a warm heart. God bless him
The girlfriend needs more independence.
How are you able to make this type of analysis based on a 10min video? The situation is more complex than you think.
She graduates this year and her sister starts college. Also, maybe don't be so crude about it.
@@Tagg25 100% completely agree as long as the interest payment on the loaned money is low enough.
Bro you don’t need loans you make $12k+++ a month. You should be a millionaire already.
I relate to this guy a lot, but he's in a much better place in life than I am. Kudos to him! Hopefully he invests in his health so he may live a long life.

Well said. I've had a similar arrangement with my wife for about 10 years.
