In Greek Mythology Sirens had the body of a bird and the head of a woman, they aren’t the same as mermaids. Mermaids were mainly painted as evil a long time ago, but due to the misunderstanding between sirens and mermaids, the mermaid’s reputation got better.
@@LightOnThePond Meanwhile, in some cultures Mermaids are sea spirits that sing at Sea and can do a number of things, abduct people, curse them or bless them, they're almost always considered dangerous in the Caribbean.

Mermaids are the most underrated paranormal sim in TS4. After watching your last video about them, I made one on that island and had SO much fun!

Mermaids aren't paranormal since they're not ghosts/spirits, but I do agree that they're unfortunately underrated and I wish that they'd refresh the Island Living EP and completely revamp mermaids! 🙂

@@enyalacerate2521 Not "paranormal" per se but in CAS, all of the "off-species" Sims are categorized as Occult; Mages from Magic Realms, Werwolves, Vampires, Plant Sims, etc. all come under the Occult label...Technically speaking.

To make merpeople more supernatural, I have started to set the males as able to get pregnant and the females as getting others pregnant, inspired by seahorses
can't mermen still get pregnant via alien abduction?

- The feral mermaid
The feral mermaid is my favorite to play as! I make a mermaid sim, give myself 0 simoleons, and run away to the sea, and ONLY the sea! And if you have the Expanded Mermaids mod, that makes it oh so much more fun, because you can eat kelp and sleep underwater!
There's certainly precedent for evil mermaids in mythology, especially if the sirens of The Odyssey are equated with mermaids, as is often the case. They're well known in that story for luring sailors to their deaths. In Witcher lore, mermaids and sirens are also typically murderous monsters. When it comes to mermaid lore, good/benevolent mermaids like Andersen's Little Mermaid seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

Until today I didn`t really liked playing as a mermaid in The Sims 4, especially the fact that I regularly had to take care of the hydration and stuff like that - but, well, now I`m really thrilled to do so once more. ;) Thank you very much! ♥
Hydration is not so harsh in 4 like it was in 3, if you want to put your sim doing some activities, summon the rain and they'll be slowing hydrated. I've doing it often with my painter merman
You need to find out if a bottle of water increases the hudration. This bottle from the jungle adventure add-on
Great video, Petey, but you missed a mermaid type: Siren!
Their skills could include Singing, various Instruments, Media Production, Dancing, and maybe DJ Mixing. You could also have them be Good or Evil and make use of their Siren's Lullaby powers.

There's also a siren mod that lets your mermaids turn into some kind of vampire hybrid

I made an off the grid mermaid living in an island, and used the pirate ship from get famous to make it look like she’s living in it😼 added seashells and treasure and it was complete
Another one is a mermaid that leads a swim team. Or one that opens a seafood restaurant.

I think mermaids get sad moodlets when they eat fish, but I can’t remember for sure. It’s been a while since I played one.
I made an off the grid mermaid who gets her own power and water. Finding collectibles and fishing and selling as I go to make my money. Its a pretty nice way to live having a lot of free time to relax on the island. Plus I get to have a dolphin! :D
I had an pregnant merman one day, and I let him in the ocean living under the siren's call. When he gives birth, it was triplets because he never feels sad or stressed 👌
yessss i'm always so hype for these "10 types" videos, amazing job! so much room for storytelling & fun gameplay. I could see the club, evil & off-the-grid ideas working well together -- a group of mysterious sirens who live on an isolated island 👀
The ghost mermaid sounds pretty interesting to play as!
combining the treasure hunter with the off the grid could be super fun, almost like ariel how she fills up her grotto with trinkets

She sells seashells down by the sea shore... then you remember that ancient peoples used to use seashells as currency. In other words, they may have spent sand dollars as actual dollars.

I've created two weresalmon that are spies. Sans actual marine saboteur gameplay mechanics. If I could make them jump higher, fight sailors, or carry weapons (like a harpoon,) I'd be that much closer to having a decent Anarteq game pack. I also made one a were-shark, so I can have Kamohoalii in the game. Still working on Merrows. They're a bit harder to get right.
I wish maxis would update mermaids since the Little Mermaid came out. I'd love the Halle Berry hair and some more fin colors.

There is a mod for a Siren trait (extremly seductiv) and a Siren aspiration that includes seducing many sims. I love to combine that with evil traits and make an evil seducing siren
I’m still mad Sims didn’t call them sirens, but evil mermaids…
In Greek folklore, sirens are actually creatures with the heads of humans and the bodies of birds

I've thought about this a couple of times but still haven't made a merman yet...I kinda chalk that up to "personal aesthetics" in my game & leave it at that.

That's funny, I just made a mermaid yoga instructor, basically for the exact reasons you said. He and his roomies live in Tartosa*. I kicked out all the starter families there and made a bunch of mermaids. I specifically made a spa for him to go work at. Now that I think on it, his roommates are a flirty mermaid and an evil mermaid. Hmm... we had a few of the same ideas!

I have decided to make my merman an inventor. My ultimate goal for him is to create a servo and attend a university. Unfortunately, in order to do this, he must train himself to level 8 of the robotics skill, and create more robot parts in order to create his robot.
I made an evil orca man who has sharp teeth and kisses all the guys hurting their feelings in the end
He tore the fish's mouth, put it in an aquarium and made it his friend... something is not clean here 😅
