    I really enjoyed that - thank you!
    As a GA only sim pilot I find complex aircraft like this and the airliners quite a daunting prospect.
    This was just what I needed - an excellent, step by step and very detailed explanation has helped me understand so much more!
    😊👌🏻

    p.s. I left the power management system on take-off - I told you I was rusty :) (to be honest, all it does is set the maximum power available)

    Well, thanks Jon - you indeed promised to come back to the ATR and you certainly have! Its become my go-to aircraft presently with an attachment to the 42 more than the 72. Currently, I'm chugging up the Italian peninsula into the heart of Europe. Great to see you take us through the ropes once more on this absolute beauty of a machine.

      I completely forgot to change the thrust management system to climb and cruise though :)

    Hello, thanks for the video. I love this very good ATR 🤩 I think that you couldn't see the speed brakes flaps moving because you were on drone mode view. I noticed that with this ATR. You have to choose exterior view mode to see every flaps/gear moving. And I think that speed brakes are only available for ATR 42 and 42S (stol), not for 72.

      They are not in this version of the aircraft - a friend that works for Airbus told me :)

    Thanks for the thorough overview and great content. Found you through the youtube wormhole when looking up information on how to start up the ATR.
    There is one thing that bugs me about the ATR in the cockpit. There's a faint, whining tone (I'm guessing from some of the avionics fans) that just irks me, other than that it've enjoyed flying it as well and following along with your guides has definitely played a part in that.

    The MDF and EWD displays have click spots on them to change the display type, zoom settings and navigate checklists, rather than having to search for buttons on the pedestal. There's a weird graphical description you can pull up on the iPad somewhere which shows you where they are and what they do. Once I discovered that, it made checklists and using the autopilot 100 times easier!

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  Год назад +1

      Yes - I know about the click spots :) I choose to use the real-world controls in most of my videos :)

    I love this plane. Flew it roughly two weeks straight. Now I'll fly it again; I'll be rusty. Interesting how you used the hold feature. I've never done that and didn't know you could do that.

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  Год назад

      I sometimes do group flights with air traffic control, and IFR flight plans - holds are used quite often :)

    I wish there was a way to create a pop-up window for the PFD. It is so hard to see the screen when sitting in a normal position in the VC. Constantly having to zoom in and out to better see the PFD or MFD.

    I enjoy watching your tutorials, simple and easy to understand for non pilots.
    I've a question about the Set Auto/ Manual Speed Target knob, located left of Capt PFD. Unlike A320, ATR doesn't have Auto Throttle. After setting the speed target with the knob, how do you get the ATR to follow the speed target?

    • @kokoeteantigha389
      @kokoeteantigha389 Год назад +1

      I'm going to wait until someone more knowledgeable comes up but I use the auto set thing as well but only so the bugs are set on the speed tape during take off or landing. I use them then to know when to rotate or raise flaps and so on. There may be a better way to use them but I don't know those for now.

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  Год назад +1

      The speed target is for climb and descent in IAS mode. When in level flight, you use the power levers to control airspeed. e.g. say you set 140 knots speed target, and IAS mode, and you run at full power, the aircraft will climb at a rate to hold the speed at 140 knots. If you lower the target, the aircraft will climb steeper. If you lower power, the aircraft will climb less steeply.

    • @jonbeckett
