      I don't think they have a real plan for this yet, but we are going to have updates for sure. I expect free updates, hopefully to add the features they had to leave behind for 1.0 - but I also wouldn't mind to spend money on one or more DLC's later on. I played almost 5300 hours of this 30 euro game - talking about value for money lol. :D Also it's pretty fair to pay for extended development of the game, so totally agree with you here. Well, I guess Snutt might tease some future plans too coming weeks/months - at least something we could hope for :)

    I've seen a few comments about the automated biomass burners making early game too easy or making mid game power useless.
    Automated biomass burners simply make it less tedious to run around your early game factory to keep them fueled. They will not be replacing mid and late game power.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  5 месяцев назад +16

      I agree - but I think it goes deeper than that - perhaps worth a video in itself further down the line - Originally they were happy with the balance of Biomass generators leading to coal in the early game, they didn't want Automation as it would make people reliant on them more earlier. So what changed, was it just a change of heart? or what I perceive to be the case is early tiers will be expanded on, requiring us to spend more time on them. Hence the now NEED for automated Biogens - I could be mistaken though

    • @electroman1996
      @electroman1996 5 месяцев назад +6

      I think even with feedable biomass burners people will still build coal as soon as they unlock it, since this you can build and then never have to touch it again (compared to still hand feeding leaves and wood to a biomass production line).
      In my opinion, being able to feed them automatically instead of running to every single one of them doesn't make it THAT much less tedious, but much more comfortable.

    • @Xhaleon
      @Xhaleon 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@electroman1996Feeding each one individually is all the tedium there is to bio burners, especially for those who expand a lot before unlocking coal. If you're using a chainsaw to clear out an area and not have plants poking through the floor, you will inevitably end up with leaves and wood in your inventory, which after 1.0 can be dealt entirely with by throwing it into a single box. That's about as much as anyone could ask for. Good reason for players to learn how to load balance too, not too many use-cases benefit from that kind of arrangement, even if the trailer showcased a manifold.

    • @WarpaintStudios
      @WarpaintStudios 5 месяцев назад +2

      exactly, they still aren't going to be powerful or efficient enough to run large factories or late tier stuff nearly as well as late tier power.

    • @denalidtx
      @denalidtx 4 месяца назад +3

      @@TotalXclipse Coffee Stain said that they aren't adding/expanding some features (combat, for example) because this is ultimately a game about factory automation. It's more consistent for them to allow more automation, even at the expense of early game challenges (read as "grind"). I'm guessing this is the driver for the change, but that's just a guess.

  • @thegardenofeatin5965
    @thegardenofeatin5965 4 месяца назад +8

    Possible DLC I could see for Satisfactory:
    1. Appearance packs. The Ficsit aesthetic has a kind of slick Tonka truck feel to it, I could see a $10 pack to change the look of a lot of in-game objects (trains, factory machines, etc) to either a more cyberpunk look, or maybe more old timey, etc.
    2. New map(s). BOY that would be a big project on their part, you might even badge it as a 2.0 release, but it wouldn't be impossible. Set it somewhere else on Massage or elsewhere.
    3. Golf.
    4. Possibly a simple one to implement: A new project scenario, where they ask you to send different parts up the space elevator, and in different quantities.

    • @SeraphsWitness
      @SeraphsWitness 3 месяца назад

      Yea they need new maps. Or at least add randomized resource placements. Once you've played this map a few times, it becomes less fun because you just memorize where everything is.

    • @SeedlingNL
      @SeedlingNL 2 месяца назад

      I don't think an entirely new map as DLC is likely, but they might fill in some of the empty parts of the map with new biomes. Some of those void holes in the middle of the map are a bit too sus NOT to be entrances to a cavernous underground area. Other areas are currently a massive void, but that might be because 1.0 simply doesn't need any new biomes to fill said voids.
      What could count as a new 'map', would be space factory building.. build resource gathering in asteroid belts, mine moons, etc, then send those resources back to your main space station, either to supplement your factories below or to build new high-tech things. Maybe even build spaceships using the resources from the planet and space.
      I hear Alterra is in the market for a new deep space exploration vessel :P

    • @SeraphsWitness
      @SeraphsWitness 19 дней назад

      @@SeedlingNL The main reason I hesitate to start a new game is because I know the map so well, frankly. A randomizer would be great.
      I mean no insult to the devs, but the map is not interesting or unique enough to warrant it being locked down permanently. Helldivers 2 randomizes their maps every single game, and it's not much less creative than Satisfactory.
      I'm an Environment Artist in the game industry, so I do tend to be picky about this. But I know what goes into level creation. There aren't enough unique POIs in the game to demand the map be fixed.

The DLC is also at a low price-point which further increases it's draw ($4.99 US regular price on Steam, sales for up to 50% off). DRG also does this very well (also Coffee Stain published), although it's purely cosmetic bits.

    - I would like to see in the DLC: Underwater factories, a scuba diver suit, an underwater world with algae and very deep depressions and creatures. Hydroelectric power plants (in areas with high water flow). Thermonuclear power plant. Wind power station (in locations with wind flows). There is no need for solar, otherwise it will be too awkward because... the sun is everywhere on the map. Greenhouses with conveyors. Significant expansion of caves, especially deeper into the planet. Lava biome. What we are building with the help of the Build project will be visible in the sky, and it will become larger in size as the phases progress. Construction in orbit (i.e. the character gets into a space elevator, reaches orbit and there he can begin to expand the base around the elevator and there the game works completely differently, weak gravity, completely different blocks for construction and you will need a special reinforced suit). Construction on the Moon - as a separate addition. From orbit it will be possible to board a shuttle, reach the nearest Moon (which is very similar in appearance to the Earth's moon), and there it will be possible to mine rare elements. Archeology - it will be possible to dig holes in certain places on the map and learn more about the history of the planet (dinosaurs?).

    What if in the late stages of 1.0 it turns out all that stuff you’ve been sending up the elevator was to provide you with the means to tap into the less hospitable planets in the system. And they could release new maps representing those planets ..just wishful thinking

  • @RiiDii
    @RiiDii 4 месяца назад +1

    It would be kind of neat to create water slide conveyers that can transport goods using a water physics' downhill slope to some destination. Out of player sight, they could function like regular conveyer belts that are out of player sight to help reduce software/hardware resource use. An approximation claw could reach into the water to pull resources out, or perhaps there could be water-to-belt transition rollers.
    That's not going to happen, but imagination is kind of what Satisfactory is about.

      I’ve posted about that on reddit before, about how I’d love to have the world OPEN UP to allow you to travel over the entirety of the ‘Vistas’ (like come on guys why would there be hundreds of square miles of highly detailed landscape geometry)
      Of course you’d need to have access to a whipe host of new technologies in the Awesome shop as a reward for completing the basic structure of Project Assembly, and now you need to use Facility Blueprinters, Mk 2 trains that go 500km/hr, heavy transport drones that you can fly around or set to autopilot, even cargo ships between the mainland and the mountains across the western sea.
      I think to make it more interesting you’d need area bosses like the giant crab, sandworms in that massive desert, a stinger hive in the jungle mountains, and maybe some kind of flying threat in the western mountains.
      The solution? Custom Hovertanks. You wanna chaingun nukes at your problems like turbo rifle ammo? Go right on ahead, just be careful where you aim so you don’t nuke yourself.
      Need to speed across the desert? Equip it with efficient light thrusters and skim along at a breezy 250km/hr.
      Need to blast some bats in the mountains? Slap some heavy duty thrusters, fuel tanks, and smart ammo gattling guns on her and take to the skies.
      The whole point after the final tier would be to refine your designs and adapt them into different environments in innovative ways, kind of a step up from the basic creating factories aspect that could provide a really engaging long term experience.
      Really, as Unreal Engine improves, the sky is the limit, I’m just hoping support keeps up long enough to solve the Uobject issue that makes my ideas kinda implausible.

    Yes, I would absolutely support CSS if they were to release DLC. I value this game more than I valued World of Warcraft and I payed a monthly subscription to that game for many years.
    I feel like I'm ripping CSS off by the amount of enjoyment I've received from this game after only a single cash purchase. This game is amazing and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us :)

    Excitted for 1.0 and I would most deffinetly buy any DLC, as long as it was meaningful content. I honestly don't understand why the development cycle on this game has taken as long as it has, so holding my breathe for meaningful DLC feels like a pipe dream. (pun intended)

    I've easily gotten my money's worth from what they have shipped so far so I'd also happily pay for DLC to encourage development as long as it was as well done as the rest of the game is. Also for me it would have to add features and not just cosmetics or other superficial things

    I bought this game twice already and I would be happy to pay for the DLC. Developers showed that they are fair, they are delivering high value game content, for really low price. If I compare 80 EUR AAA game with 6 hours of content to satisfactory with 30 EUR pricetag where I already spent hundreds of hours, ye I believe DLCs would be justified :)

    My only big beef with this game is the fixed map. Same reason I don't replay Subnautica much. I would have loved a procedurally-generated terrain. Otherwise it becomes a bit stale when you can memorize the map.
    Still love it, but that's my pitch. It's probably very complicated to add at this point.

    About 2/3rds through my 2nd play-through, this time I'm trying to avoid areas I used the 1st time. I'd like to see creature spawn and resource node randomization before playing a 3rd time as there aren't many surprises left once molesting pretty much the entire world. The dream is either current world expansion or an entire new world for ver 2.0!

      You know you say that but I found the creature spawns were quite rearranged between the various major updates, especially adding the elite hogs. I remember often thinking "there used to be two big spitters here..." But yeah, by the end of my most recent playthrough I would go on hunting expeditions and I knew how many of what creature I would encounter where.

    I would buy DLC. I would pay for a Sequel. This game has taken the cake on the most hours I have ever spent on a game. I have "restarted" like 4 times, usually when an update is released.
