What a beautifull episode, maybe one of the best.........daddy teaches his son and son is willingly to learn. Count your blessing!!!!!!!! Absolutely great!!
So glad you enjoyed it! We are very lucky to have a Jack!!
I remember the construction "lessons" I learned from my Grandfather and a family friend. Those stick with you for your whole life. The time you take with Jack, teaching him how to build things, will pay off in spades later is his life. I'm very glad to see you incorporating your work with him. I also like your mannerisms when teaching him. You help and instruct, but nearly like he is a fellow partner and he's learning and helping. It's been about 50 years for me and I still remember working those projects when I was a kid.
Lovely to see Jack joining in the work, such a lovely young lad you must be very proud of him.
Very proud!
Gosh! I can't believe how much Jack has grown up since the last time I saw him, I hardly recognised him! And what a delightful chap he is, such a lovely speaking voice. I can imagine watching him presenting documentaries in a few years time!
It is nice to see Jack learning both types of measure. It is good that the next generation can hold on to the old Imperial system.
Lovely job. Great to see Jack learning how to use power tools and the end result looks fabulous
Andy, with Jack's help this project turned out beautifully. Great to have an extra 15mm for resting on those fantastically thick and generous foam that Melissa is generating for comfort. We can't believe Ollie is 8 months old, where does the time go? Another fantastic episode as The Family rebuilds Melody inside and out prior to your world tour afloat. Wishing all a Happy New year!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Another brilliant video. It's great to see Jack working with you and gaining skills and knowledge Andy. That is teaching the best way. Amazing amount of work done as usual. Jack is becoming quite a handyman already. Not forgeting Mellisa with the foam work. Keep well and safe. James.
Thank you 😊
So awesome to be teaching your son proper woodworking skills.......love it. Cheers from Austin, tx
Thanks 👍
A great episode. Congratulations on the seat tops, they look great. Jack is becoming a great apprentice, with a great teacher 👏🏻
Thank you!
Good work helping Jack! The boat is looking so good. Can’t wait to see the new cushions.
Great to see you teaching Jack woodworking. He seems to be a natural, great technique. Just so he learns the correct terms, that joint you made is a lap joint. A mortise is a hole that a tenon fits into.
Thanks 👍
Brilliant episode. Great to see Captain Jack doing a superb piece of woodwork with his Dad 👌❤
Thank you 😊
Great to see Andy and Jack working together. And Melissa working away on the matrasses. This will all come together and being very comfy. Advantage: Put Ollie there and he will sleep through the day. Disadvantage: Completely useless for a short nap. You may not want to get up. ☺
More great musical choices that somehow enliven yet calm the spirit at the same time - thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode! Wonderful to see you all working together! Jack, you are brilliant!!! Cheers from Stockholm, Sweden
Really enjoyed the music when you were making the bench pieces, very rich tones.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks, too, to Melissa for the family news update
Outstanding job yet again, Bringing the boat back to its original and even enhanced beauty, just brilliant 🤩
Jack is a real star. Useful education on the tools, but be mindful that this is your dream, not necessarily his. I am sure it is, but very much worth checking on a regular basis.
Thanks, we do check on a regular basis 😊
Well done Jack, nice to see you again Melissa.😊
By the age of 15, Jack should be able to build his own boat😊. Love it.❤
It’s a real pleasure to watch Jack in action picking up new skills!
Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Well done, Jack. One day you will be able to do all kinds of work because of what your dad has taught you. Happy Sailing. Jane, Philadelphia
With an interior sole board replacement and headlining project to tackle this year on our 1960's Chris Craft it's been great to watch you work through this part of Ocean Melody - thanks for such amazing content as always from a long term subscriber
Wow, what an amazing transformation! It's truly inspiring to see you and your family working together to rebuild the interior of your yacht. Jack is such a great apprentice, learning all about both types of measurement. The seat tops look fantastic - such a great accomplishment! Keep up the great work, and here's to a successful world tour afloat. Happy New Year to you all! 🌟🛥️
Andy, a little lesson I learned regarding measuring sticks. I measured something with one ruler, went downstairs and marked off with one of my other rulers, only to find when I went back upstairs they were the wrong lengths. Took the 1st ruler and compared it with the 2nd one and lo and behold they had about 2mm difference over 300mm! Check my cheap tape against the Stanley one and there was a big difference.
Moral of this story is; what you use to do the measuring with should be the very same one used to mark out with. (Unless of course you have done a side by side check with both rulers/tapes).
It's a good thing that you're teaching Jack how to do stuff around the boat.
What an absolute credit Jack is to you both ....... thoroughly enjoyed that episode . All the best to you !
Some nice family DIY!!🎉❤❤❤ and one sleeping during the shifts..for now one and the same😅❤
🥰
Nice work on the benches👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Really great to see Melissa doing her thing and Capt Jack doing some stirling work. He’s a credit to you both Andy. Good to see your much more relaxed without your old work commitments and concentrating on the boat. Wonderful episode. At 20:11 your second cross batten was 45mm not 45cm…..just in case the Captain got confused ? Good luck all, stay safe.
Thank you 😊
Nice job good to see jack in the team with is dad ❤
Thank you 😊
Good on you Jack, way to go!
Thanks!
Great apprentice. Loved the early bit where you were trimming the centre back support quick time with the hand saw. Simple things amuse me 🙂
How often do you see this "Father & Son" project..Outstanding ...
🥰
So nice to see you, Melissa. Jack! Great job! Love your family. 😎🥰
Hi Andy, Melissa lightning Jack and wonderful baby Oliver. Happy New Year to you guys Andy what a blessing to have that workshop. Imagine all the hard work putting all those stones together to build that place absolutely beautiful. Just keep up the good work. Looking forward to more videos in 2024 Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺👨🏻🦽
Thank you for a wonderfully satisfying episode once again and with young Jack to boot!!
Wow!!!! That’s crazy generous thank you SO much 😊
hehehe don't you worry Andy, the way i do it , it would be cut three times and still to short ! you are both doing fantastic jobs again !Keep going dear family !! friendly greetings , Brian .
Hahaha cheers mate
In valuable life skillZ for Jack 👍🏼
We all make mistakes. I once cut a board three times. Even with that much effort, it was still too short. Looking good!! It is nice to watch an old tired boat come back to life.
Loved your mobile work bench
Hope Jzck has fun learning ABOUT boats snd yachts. I Have thought he is going to spend alot of his life at sea and on boats.
Jack loves learning about boats!!
The seats are looking great and I'm sure they will be very comfortable thanks to the new cushions. That's a huge step forward.
Nice to see Jack helping you (and you teaching him).
Dear Melissa, Andy, Oliver and captain Jack,
This episode was for WIlleke and me the most lovable of all up till now because we saw the whole family Bennington Turner working very hard to make Ocean Melody very comfortable but the most we loved to see was how eager Jack wants the ship ready to live on board as soon as possible so he can be a real captain. It was also amazing to see how Jack did love to help Andy in such a clever way and presumably with a great interest in technology. You must be more than proud with Jack.
We look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
Extremely proud 😊😊😊
Loved watching you teach Jack. Great video
Don’t scrap the top layer memory foam Melissa. It makes foam seats and mattresses SO MUCH more comfortable.
It is great to see the young fella getting invested in the works. Hands on is a fantastic learning experience apposed to "look at me". Congratulations sir. Also great to see all the family looking so healthy 🙂
well done jack i can see you you could become a good carpenter
A great episode those seats will be great the proud that jack will have will be knowing he helped make the seats with fatherly instructions from his father which is great well done Melissa with the it looks very awkward to cut but you did it
You are into that where ollie is finding his feet so to speak now the fun begins with him good luck where's eight months gone so quick see you all next time 😊😊😊
Good job Jack and Poppa !!! Looks great. Looking forward to seeing the cushions installed, too.
Us too!
adding finger hole in the seat hatch cover boards?... nice episode
Good job Captain Jack !! Thanks for showing your Dad how to refit the Cabin 👍👍👍 And Thanks Dad for the Great Videos !! And we will not leave out Mom for Awesome job of constructing the bed Mattress !! But all the credit goes to Olly for his sacrifice of being in bed so Mom could get her Work done !!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏 0:01
Nice work,crew.
Thank you very much!
Will Jack have his own channel now? Building With Jake! Great job passing on a skill set on to Jack. Yes mentoring takes time but pays off for so many years.
Stuff you learn from your Dad, stays with you for life.
Nice hatchery!
Coming along nicely,good work crew
Getting there 😊
Lovely, that reminds me so much of my dad and me working together on our house!
Nice to see!
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent work all. Looking good.
Andy
Don't paint your teak oil instead and colour every other slat on the head linings it would look cool and contemporary
Varnishing teak is not great because of its natural oils which will make any coating eventually lift.
Loving the resto ...from an old boat builder
Well done, Jack!
Thank you 😊
Little trick :
When finished tightening drill chuck up. Turn the chuck to the right by hand . You will hear a click !
Whenever you get around to maybe doing the varnish in the interior. Use a laser to remove the varnish. Very inexpensive and does a fantastic job. Also, I would not use shiny varnish ... Satin looks so much better as shiny show's up everything. Just some thoughts by me.
Way to go Jack!
Amazing work father son that’s memory s and sutch a good job jack will be a master at all he does for sure and the mrs busy with the child most of the day but still makes time to do great stuff brilliant one thing I noticed today was you all have thick amazing hair must be the Welsh air brilliant jobs the boat will be great ❤ really admire what you’re doing and the effort is un matchable
a really good work jack(!)
my best wishes to the whole family.
Great work chaps!
Thanks 😊
With Jacks knowledge and future skills I can see him sailing his very own Vessel some day... LG Canada.
Currently that's what he wants to do 😀
Like the Beatles song, "It's Getting Better All The Time" ... Best wishes from Montana !
Great job Jack.👍
Thank you 😊
thank you Captain Jack for a 🙂great video
Nice work Jack
Thanks 👍
Nice work guys. Jack sure picked up the handling of power tools pretty quickly. You'll be off before you know it!
You got that right!
d to see you and Jack working together.
Good job on your repairs, glad you’re passing skills on to Jack 👍
Thanks 👍
Good job Jack!
The boats really coming on now looking good 👍
Thanks 👍
At 5.01min: "Bunkberthbed" 👍👌👏😁😁😁 I wonder if you can actually make a bed and breakfast boat out of such a bunkbirthbed yacht? Having bunkberthbeds in a bed and breakfast boat (BBB in a BBB) seems to me the only appropriate way! 😁 ;-)
🤣
Thanks guys!
Thanks Trev!
Use a table saw for the cutouts of the hatches do drop cuts it will look much nicer straight lines.
We all hope its Agreat sailing year
Thanks page xx
Love your vids and great family!
Thanks so much
one of my favorite "real family" channels...
Lovely episode really enjoyed it 😊,Andy what are your plans for that plug near the mast ? Could you have e a double and sink it in to loose the surface box could be more useful and look a whole lot better 😊great to see you all back
That's the plan!

Wow thank you so much. I don’t know how we missed this donation :)
Very nice keep up the good work.
Great video
Looking dead healthy and fit there Mel
Another wonderful episode ❤ thank you all 👍🏼😎
Glad you enjoyed it
First of all Jack you did a fantastic job on your workmanship storage and seating. Melissa definitely those cushions are going to be sooo!!! Comfortable and look outstanding I bet. Andy again a great video with the added part of Melissa on the cushions.
And and Melissa I have a question? Now the head gear Jack is wearing(Sorry do not know proper name) is it worn 7 days 24 hours per day. Reason I ask is. When you are sailing out in the Big Blue the salt spray atmosphere will it not be damaging to it. My understanding through other RUclips channels is salt is very damaging to electronics. Cell phones, computers(Laptops) ect.
I am sure Jack will be out in the Ocean spray and swimming (I guess then it will be removed?)
I am just wondering if this has been thought of. Sorry if I am seeming insensitive or ignorant in asking, but I hope me asking isn't coming out in that way. If it is I apologize.
Again Jack marvelous job and Aladino will be proud of you as well.
Looking forward to next video cheers
Great question, he takes off his cochlear implants to sleep. It is definitely going to be trial and error when we start sailing as to the best way to protect them! When the weather is awful a waterproof hat will be worn and they have waterproof cases too!
@@SailingMelody Tha ks for answering my question in the reply 🍻
Excellent Video
Thank you 😊
Well done team!!
Thank you 😊
Wonderful vlog ❤❤
Thank you 😊
Are you planning to insulate the hull internally behind the settee and under the deck?
Yes!!
Maybe put a hole in each of the hatches to make them easier to remove 😊
