What is the difference between that formula you have used and this basic formula for area of a triangle? A=1/2 xb x h. I am confused because I saw both formula.
You will need to find the height (draw the line for height and you will have a right triangle). You now know two of the three sides. You will need to find the third side, which is the height, using the Pythagorean theorem. I have videos on the Pythagorean theorem if you need! Good luck.
Sorry for the confusion. The height of 2 was just used to show how to find the area of a triangle. The number 2 was just chosen for the purpose of quickly showing the technique to find the area. The number 2 was not found using math calculations. I hope that makes sense to you!

Hello! Your formula and my formula are actually the exact same thing! They just look different.
For example: 1/2 x 3 x 4 = 6. This is the same as going 3 x 4 ÷ 2 =6. Same answer!
does shape matter when you are doing perimeter
Perimeter is nice, because all you have to know if you are adding up all the sides... NO MATTER what shape you are looking at!
What formula to use if the height is missing?
I'm not sure your situation but often the Pythagorean theorem/formula is needed to find the height. I have a video on that formula if you need it!
