I am reducing my spending at the grocery store and want to also follow Autumns advice. Hopefully I’ll have some good substitutions and ideas for you over the next few weeks! Do you happen to have access to grocery bargain outlet? I have found some great discounts on products that fit her philosophy there! More on the west coast than east but here’s to you finding great options that bless your bank account as much as they bless your body!
Something else to look for in cottage cheese - added starches! Breakstone brand cottage cheese adds tapioca starch to their cottage cheese. Other brands add chemical emusifiers like polysorbate. I was shocked when I saw that. So then I started to check other unflavoured dairy products. MOST heavy cream has gums and emulsifiers as well ! I had never bothered to check the ingredients of unflavoured dairy products before because I naively assumed that natural products in the dairy case did not contain additives.
The word is spreading about the Good Culture full fat in my area--it's constantly sold out. So yummy! Love the cottage additions listed in the Comments-I enjoy it plain, but I'm excited to switch up the flavor.
I just had two boiled eggs and a cup (8oz) of cottage cheese for lunch. Eggs 6.5 grams each. Cottage cheese: whole milk fat. 8 Oz 22 grams total 35 grams protein. Right???
I love the Good Culture brand cottage cheese! They have a double cream version that's 6% fat but I can only find that one at one store. The 4% is good too.
Plano Texas WholeFoods regularly sold out of full fat cottage cheese, especially the Good Culture brand. I’m eating cottage cheese bowl as I watch this video 😊
Very interesting and educational video!! I eat some cheese and occasionally cottage cheese if I can find a good one, but it is hard for me to find!! I'm mostly carnivore and experimenting to see if dairy causes me any problems!! Love the idea of cottage cheese in scrambled eggs!! ❤❤
I just found this good culture cottage cheese a couple weeks ago and I love it. Maybe you can answer a question for me that nobody believes is true. I get constipated when I eat Greek Yogurt. People say I’m imagining that. That’s why I choose cottage cheese. Glad I found you!😊
Wow - I get constipated when I eat cottage cheese, but not when I eat Greek yogurt, so the opposite of what happens to you! I have tested this, and it is definitely the cottage cheese that is the culprit for me - sad because I love the stuff! Thankfully, Greek yogurt is not a problem for me because I love that, too. 😊
I LOVE cottage cheese. The only store around me that carries a healthier version (Good Culture) is Publix and they are constantly sold out (even at $5.99 a container). It doesn't go on a BOGO free sale very often but, if it does, I go crazy...lol. There is a market store about 30 mins from me that might carry a grass-fed version but I don't travel that way very often...I would have to take a cooler with me to keep it cold while traveling back home (I live in Florida). I may have to take a trip soon to see if they carry one.
Florida girl here! One time I asked at my Publix if they had any in the back and the guy said I was the second person to ask today and he was constantly getting people looking for it.
After doing a high mufa, cleanish keto program for a year or so, I love full fat BUT unfortunately full fat products have the saturated fats that increase my LDLS. I have never ever have had high cholesterol until now, and while my HDL was 104, my total cholesterol was 299. Any suggestions for your maturing (58 yo) viewers? That said, your IF tips and increased protein plan has absolutely made a difference in my life just these past few weeks since I found you. Thank you for creating content and being passionate about educating us! 😘
At the whole foods by me the full fat cottage cheese is always sold out too now! I can never find it and when i do i fill my cart, and let me tell you people give me some strange looks in the dairy section when that happens lol so annoying. if they have it i end up buying the good culutre double cream one (the green tub) when they are out of the full fat one. But honestly they are out of that one too a lot now. Always plenty of low fat available tho
What is known about micronutrient levels in the body and Peptide YY and CCK? Would having adequate vitamin and mineral levels also help to turn off the hunger signal?
Autumn thanks for all your great videos but one major point you forgot that is one of my highest criteria is compare sugar contents between cottage cheese brands advertised as the same fat content. Some brands even change the serving size amount to make their sugar content look better. Same with yogurt. It can vary wildly for the same fat content. One brand may be 4 grams per half a cup and another 10 grams per for essentially the same fat content advertised. I only buy plain Greek yogurt and it can vary huge amounts in sugar.
I know you have a preference for cottage cheese. Lol You've mentioned before though, that when getting Greek yogurt you have to be very cautious not to get normal Greek yogurt. You've often recommended Skye, But I wanted to know what your thoughts were on Fage and if they're purported 15 g of protein were actually complete sources of protein?
I always bought the full fat, which I love so much more. Especially the Good brand! And then I read that if you add a zero to the grams of protein, and if that number remains lower than the calories per serving, it’s better for you from a weight loss perspective. So I made that switch, but really miss the full fat! Urg…. Nothing is straight forward!! Maybe I’ll be switching back!
I use “the other half” of the carton to whip it up with full fat plain Greek yogurt as a base for vegetable dips, tuna salad, and thin it out for salad dressing. I have not tried this combo as “ice cream” yet.
Okay so I have a problem with high LDL (like 190 high). Every other indicator of my metabolic health is fine. I have decent HDL (50s) and low triglycerides but my doctor gets stuck on my LDL and wants to put me on a statin so I HAVE to get this down. I would love to see a video about how to balance things like eating full fat dairy when saturated fat makes my LDL skyrocket. And I understand that LDL isn’t the whole story but most doctors haven’t caught up to this yet so I’ve got to figure out how to walk that line. Thanks!
Hi autumn, I love your videos and I’ve learned so much so far over the past few weeks that I have found you. My question is is 4% milk fat, the same as whole fat? I can’t seem to find anything that says whole fat.
I think so. Around the 6min mark she shows a close up of the container of cottage cheese and it says 4% and whole milk on it. I think the low fat options say 2%
It must be there production because it is always sold out at mine as well. Which is SO annoying, its like a toilet paper pandemic flashback with cottage cheese 😂 Actually, I was told they just aren’t getting enough in from the supplier. My guess is they can produce more low fat than the full fat
Love the idea of consuming whole fat products from grass fed and grass finished cows but those products are harder to find than one may think. Any company can give cows handfuls of grass and print they are grass fed. It's the finishing that matters. Overall, I think all cows eat grass. It's inexpensive and readily available to farmers. So, I'd worry a lot less about that than anything else.
I've made the switch to whole milk cottage cheese a couple months ago. What are your thoughts on yogurt? I like to alternate cottage cheese and yogurt. I usually get whole milk Greek vanilla yogurt?
You can make your own from raw skimmed clabbered milk, and then add the cream back in! I have been doing this lately and the cultured taste is incredible 😍 I clabber mine 4 days on the counter
Really anything! My mom used to add salsa to cottage cheese as a dip for tortilla chips back in the 80s. I process mine to make it smooth and add honey and granola for breakfast (I can't eat yogurt, so I do this instead). I also enjoy it with olives and cucumbers and tomatoes. Or just a couple spoonfuls as a snack when standing in front of the fridge lol.
I’m trying to stay in a calorie deficit, so I eat low fat cottage cheese. I count calories and protein. I won’t do this forever but while cutting, I’m going with the low fat version.
I buy the Good Low Fat. 1. It costs $2.00+ LESS than the full fat!!?? Why I dont know....lol 2. I know I have an issue digesting fat. My gallbladder/liver making bile. I get gas & have small floating stools/constipation. 3. I take a vitamin D & K Every day. So I get fat in other foods & try not to get too much fat.
I buy the Good Culture brand, but my grocery store doesn’t carry full fat! I just assumed they only sold a low fat version. Guess I need to look for someone who carries full fat!
Finally! A nutritionist approving full fat for satiety and flavor. Hopefully, other nutritionists will follow because i don't think they got it in their educational training. They are still pushing low fat.
Where I live, there is only unflavoured available, 0%, 1%, 2% and 4%. What I’m concerned about is that they all contain gar gum, carragheneen, cellulose, and mono and diglycerides. I wish I could find pasture raised, organic and additive-free cottage cheese.
I would honestly just skip it and make recipes will full fat Greek yogurt - if it has all of those additives. Hopefully, things will change in your area and you will eventually get better ingredients in those products. I was eating bad quality cottage cheese for over a month & I believe it was holding me back in my weight loss goals.
Make your own cottage cheese, with organic milk, cream and salt. Heat 2litres of milk to just before boiling, then add halfa cup of vinegar, leave for half an hour, strain the whey off it and stir in cream and salt to taste
Ours stores unable to get that brand in. I don’t know what’s going on with it. The good they can’t get it in. They keep ordering it. That’s what they keep telling me.
I actually swapped the low fat cottage cheese to full fat and used it for a month. I found this delicious and satiating and I still lost weight.
Cottage cheese in eggs is a game changer! That's how I began eating cottage cheese, and I will not eat eggs without it, lol.
For a savory option, I like to add salad olives, sunflower and chia seeds to the cottage cheese.
@@SP30305ATL sounds good! I prefer savory or even plain!
This sounds delicious!
Good Culture full fat high protein cottage cheese is my favorite
In the summer, cottage cheese with homegrown tomatoes is the best.
My favorite
Love adding cottage cheese to my eggs and salads.
Healthy cheesecake recipe PLEASE!🤍
Daisy Cottage has only a few ingredients in the other ones have so many more for a little cheaper
Yes, and it doesn't contain carrageenan :)
Agree. Look at ingredients rather than price. Your health will thank you.
Yes, Breakstone adds tapioca starch & emulsifiers to their cottage cheese. Daisy just has milk, culture & salt.
I love your channel. Please do some videos for ppl who can’t AFFORD the options you talk about. Thank you 😊
Always do the best you can with what you have. Perfect is the enemy of the good enough. God bless you. ❤

Could you do a video on cottage cheese recipes?
Paprika on cottage chz is fantastic
Full fat cottage cheese is getting more popular here too, I find. I love it. Thanks Autumn. 👍❤️🇨🇦
I can't find any clean cottage cheese in Canada (Ontario)... They all have a lot of added ingredients. What brand are u finding?
@@summersalix I buy Sealtest 4%. It is nothing like what Autumn can get in her grocery store. There aren’t a lot of choices in Quebec to be honest.
I wish Costco would carry the full fat Good Culture cottage cheese.
publix, fresh market and sprouts
@@melaniebrooks7709 thanks. Those aren’t local for me.
Me too!
Costco only carries Daisy brand. It's a bit sweeter tasting and has harder curds
I agree. Why the LowFat Costco?
I get so much great info from your channel. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your viral cottage cheese/peanut butter/blueberry recipe. I eat it all the time now!!!
