I have watched a lot of these. And I like this the best. Because he encourages you to keep your muscles in the legs engaged. And by bringing the neck up first you are protecting it from injuries.
If memory serves, The Five Tibetan Rites are said to speed up and synchronize the chakras as their spin slows and falls out of rhythm with the others as we age and neglect our emotional/spiritual health. A by-product was said to maintain physical stamina and youth.
Thanks Keith. I have been doing this since the kettlebell seminar. Mine have been doing them a bit sloppy just to get them done. This will help me a lot
After many years of training, learning...I’m glad I just discovered this, and did it this am with my workout. It will be incorporated in my weekly routine! Your routines and videos are very educational, entertaining and easy to follow. Thank you for this. What a game changer!
Ahhhhhhh... The Five Rites. I honestly always neglect to do these, and I probably shouldn't. As an amateur athlete I've always got away with jumping right into a workout without stretching, although I'm MUCH less flexible than I was just a few years back. I will give the rites a try again!
Hey Keith, big fan of yours since the Rogan podcast, my question is, do you plan on making a video on the article you wrote on how to combine kettle bells with barbell training, or something along those lines that combine the two.
For sure Cody! That's a great idea for a video. I might actually make a program that people can purchase for a small fee that will help a person achieve their best physique using barbells, kettlebells, HIT training methods, and diet tactics if there seems to be interest.
Thanks for this! I used to rush thru them on the DVD, but now I know more about doing them correctly and will add them in every day! Do you do other stretches for flexibility throughout the day/week? If so, what?
Thank you! I do a general stretch before bed every night also for hip flexors, hams, adductors, similar to the stretching routine at the end of the EKC1.
Thanks for this. Maybe a little add on; the most important aspect of this ancient exercise for longevity is proper silent breathing at all times through the nose.
Hi Keith, if I may correct: The locking of the chin and bringing the legs up must be done at the same time -- not the neck first and the legs afterwards. I am sorry to tell you Keith, you are performing it all wrong --- all the rites. The correct way is very, very important in performing these Tibetan rites, or else we will end up damaging our skeletal system permanently. If am wrong, please show your video to an expert. There are many videos put out in the youTube that are totally wrong.
Hi Keith, Just got the DVD series from Onnit.com, love the workouts but the Videos 6, 7, 8 won't open, its says "The destination file could not be created" Any way you could help me get the videos? Thanks in advance!
I thought hindu push-ups were what he showed and divebombers were roll up, roll down. Could be wrong but still, love these vids keith, about to start them tomorrow am.
No Antoni, not at all, thanks for pointing it out. It’s true, the 2nd rite is not exactly correct. I guess I modified it with my physio mind as people generally are too weak to lock the chin and lift the legs simultaneously without arching their backs. I have read the book several times and agree with you that many of the videos on RUclips are incorrect, some terribly so. Do you have a video that you recommend that shows the correct way? Thanks for reaching out
1 Spin 1:53
2 Supine Total Spinal Flexion 2:57
3 Kneeling Total Extension 4:13
4 Longsit Table 5:38
5 Updowndog 6:23
Best 5 rites video on the web by far.
I have watched a lot of these. And I like this the best. Because he encourages you to keep your muscles in the legs engaged. And by bringing the neck up first you are protecting it from injuries.
