at 3.01 you mention the shop being like "open all hours" this was the actual shop they used in 1973 for the pilot episode of "open all hours" i was 8 at the time and remember them filming it well as i lived a few doors away in drayton avenue, the back of our house was in manor road

I was raised around those streets and went to Drayton infants and middle school, brings back some memories,I didn’t realise that that carry on movie was filmed there.

There was also a scene of the large department store - FH Rowses on the Uxbridge Road in West Ealing, but that's sadly been knocked down and replaced by modern retail units

I lived in Arlington Road and I remember that steel bridge as a child. The small building after the billboard signs was a sweet shop and tobacconist. After they cross the road the final scene is outside what was Craddock's Dairy in the Avenue.

The streets seemed cleaner back then and certainly a lot quieter.

Look closely the police lamp in on the left hand column and was supported by wire so not to do any damage, :-) p's I used to do film location fittings for films in the 60s /70s

Oh what an interesting sounding job. You don’t think of all the smaller damage that fixtures & fittings could do on an entire set... I would like to know more.....

You are a bit off on the railway footbridge. they were actually at the other end, in Manor Rd ( if you look they pass a sign on the wall just before Joan Simms starts climbing the steps) Jacobs Ladder, the name of the bridge, was shortened sometime in the 1960's. It used to extend right out to Manor Rd, but now there is a short footpath past a warehouse to the steps up. I have lived in Ealing for nearly 60 years & remember it all so well. Thanks for the memories!
