Just picked up a mountfield laser with a Honda gv100 engine. Very difficult to start so going to clean the carburettor. However once it does start it will only run in the position just above choke. Any slight movement to full throttle or even up towards low position causes engine to rev very high to the point where it might explode. Have you got any ideas? Governor maybe. Cheers

Just out of interest, how far do you usually have to travel to collect your mowers? Are they all local to you or do you sometimes go a bit further if you find a really good one?
Can't beat honda engines i picked up a mower that had been sat outside for 2 years put some fresh petrol in it and started on the second pull. But i hate putting the carb back on after I've taken it off for a clean!!!

I usually travel around 30 miles of my home . I have been further a couple of times to pick up job lots of 10 in a van.
Buy briggs or honda with self drives avoid rear rollers. There is a whole section on the masterclass dvd.Avoid cheap plastic unbranded. Mountfield champion sovereign honda izy all good make sure the have a grass box or you will struggle to make profit. 😉

First three minutes of the video almost totally irrelevant to anything apart from breweries. Sure, try the simple things first but, even before that, if starting for the first time after winter, leave a fan heater or hair drier to play (gently) over the carburettor area for 10minutes or so. Once it's all slightly warm, start it. Works for me every time.
