To those of you who didn't see this live it was MUCH worse! They cut some of Canibus's times while he was trying to remember his bars in half! There were times where he was pausing for around 30 seconds, it was truly harder to watch than cartel decapitations.

This can be compared to an All-Star athlete who came out of retirement. You can see that they may still have some of their magic, but they aren't the same as they were in their "prime". For a legendary MC to put themselves out there, says a lot. Cassidy is one of the few who at least attempted. Sure, Diz bodied Canibus here... but without competition, there is no battle. We all have to pass the tourch one day. Propz 2 both emcees.
Seriously after watching this many times, Cannibus may have lost, but he has to be the better of the industry rappers so far, his voice is solid and he DID have some great lines in the first round. I would love to see him battle again and hopefully won’t choke.

And you still have some great battlers that have a great writtens mixed with freestyle rebuttals like Clips, Ward, Trez, Charron. Etc

It's one thing to remember 20 minutes worth of rhymes but remembering them while a crazy guy screaming in your face usually sets you off. Dizaster clearly won here, but to discredit a man completely who's been writing some of the most potent, clever verses since the 90s because he can't compete in this format is just biased. Writing great lyrics and being a hardened battle rapper are CLEARLY two very different skills. Dizaster is at the pinnacle of hip-hop as a competitive endeavor. Hats off to the man. You can't deny skill. Canibus is at the pinnacle of hip-hop as an art form. People like him, Aesop Rock, DOOM, Killah Priest, Nas, the list goes on. The culture is multifaceted. Funny you say that because people need to listen to Big Daddy Kane's interview of a few years ago. He explained the difference between freestyling and off the dome. He said that because he's so technical with what he raps about he can't go off the dome but he's one of the best writers of all time not just for himself but for others too. That's how I look at Canibus. It takes lots of skill to do what did especially in his prime and him humbling himself. Just wished he didn't do this at all but I guess he needed the money.

Canibus remains one of hip-hop's greatest writers. Dizaster clearly won here, but to discredit a man completely who's been writing some of the most potent, clever verses since the 90s because he can't compete in this format is just biased. Writing great lyrics and being a hardened battle rapper are CLEARLY two very different skills. Dizaster is at the pinnacle of hip-hop as a competitive endeavor. Hats off to the man. You can't deny skill. Canibus is at the pinnacle of hip-hop as an art form. People like him, Aesop Rock, DOOM, Killah Priest, Nas, the list goes on. The culture is multifaceted. Stop seeing things in black and white. Yeah, a man who hasn't battled since the 90s and is clearly injured lost to one of the best battlers in the world. Boo hoo.

Funny you say that because people need to listen to Big Daddy Kane's interview of a few years ago. He explained the difference between freestyling and off the dome. He said that because he's so technical with what he raps about he can't go off the dome but he's one of the best writers of all time not just for himself but for others too.
That's how I look at Canibus. It takes lots of skill to do what did especially in his prime and him humbling himself. Just wished he didn't do this at all but I guess he needed the money.
