Heralded as one of the best in the game, Dizaster is one of the most well known battle rappers of all time. As prolific as he is deadly, Diz has amassed an astounding 70 on camera battles, with countless more freestyle battles not caught on film. Representing Los Angeles by way of Toronto, the American battle rapper has gathered quite the following of fans over the years, beginning in the Jumpoff WRC days up until the present day. A former King of the Dot champion, Dizaster has been apart of some of the best known battles of all time, including his showdown with Canibus, his legendary clash against DNA, and various other high profile matches. Known for his ability to mix his written verses with freestyling effortlessly, Diz's unique style has helped him stand out among the top tier. Back in Toronto to try to reclaim the chain for a second time, Diz goes up against Pat Stay to see if he can take the throne once again.
By far one of the most feared battle rappers in the world, Pat Stay has earned his reputation as a heavyweight. The Nova Scotian emcee has one of the largest fanbases in battling, pushing him to achieve his current status as KOTD Champion. One of the progenitors of the written era of battling, Pat helped grow the movement through his immense success starting out in the Elements League. Now a regular in King of the Dot, Pat has posted some of the leagues best performances in battles against longtime best friend Hollohan, Head Ice, and Math Hoffa. An imposing figure regardless, Pat dominates his competition through a mixture of intimidation, knockout punchlines and decimating bars. Having requested this match against Dizaster, Pat Stay aims to retain his status as champion against a hungry challenger in this next release from King of the Dot.

I had to come back to this to pay respects for Pat. Dude opened up my eyes to the battlerap scene. This was the very first battle I've watched and I was hooked. The way Pat controlled the crowd. The way his punchlines landed. The smoothness of his flows and deliveries. The way he could flip Diz's lines on him. Pat is a fucking legend and the news of his death is beyond heartbreaking.
Personal Top 5 battle rapper. Always entertaining. So sad man. Sucks that he was cut down by a coward, life cut short trying to break up a fight. 🤦♂️😔

I was fortunate to attend this event which was the first Toronto event since I had got into kotd in the previous summer. Became a fan of pat right away. I went into this one not too sure if I liked him but this battle definitely captivated me.

I became disconnected with battle rap as life has gone on, but I always come back to this one. Two of my favourite battle rappers of all time, in their prime. Pat was debatably the best in English spoken battle rap. The fact I'm writing 'was' and not 'is', is so disheartening to say the least.

Diz is versatile as fuck. The shit he spits is on some other level that most emcees don't even touch. His wordplay and metaphors are nasty, and his freestyle ability makes him dangerous. His only drawback is his delivery. He crams too much shit into one round and to do it he spits his bars really fast, which is fine when you watch it at home and can let all the nice shit he's saying sink in, but I imagine he gets slept on alot live because people have a hard time keeping up with every thing coming out of his mouth.

This was a testament to how well rounded Pat was! Did the long rounds which is Diz thing and what Diz wanted and Diz stumbled and had some slips and Pat was pretty flawless. Adding to that not only was he clean three rounds Diz really only barred out aggressively and fast flowed. Pat was flawless while mixing aggression bars swag and comedy! RIP to the best to ever do it when he was in his zone and one of the best most creative well rounded writers ever to rap!

There is one reason for all the Dizaster hate and one reason only. You could point to his arrogance, but it ties back to this one reason. And the hate he gets ties back to this one reason and one reason only: *he. Is. Too. Good. At. Battling.* He's done it too long, he's mastered it from too many angles. Dizaster has taken everything about battling too far for most people. That's why fans do not identify with him, most of these fans think they're rappers too, but they don't see themselves in him like they can in others, because the techniques are too advanced, the confidence level is too high, the rhyme schemes are too elaborate.
Dizaster doesn't have an "I've been battle rapping for 5 years" style, he doesn't even have an "I've been battle rapping for 10 years" style, he has an "I've been battle rapping for 20 goddamn years bro" style. His skill level is so far beyond debate it *makes people angry.* People hate the fact that he's so undeniable, they see that and they want to somehow prove themselves by pretending to be unimpressed. Dizaster is on par with Kanye for bringing out the jealous weak little bitch in so many fans at once.
People hate him because they're fans of all these other rappers he goes against, including two musically famous and widely beloved rappers (Canibus and Dizaster), and when Dizaster goes against ANY rapper it gets incredibly personal and incredibly nasty incredibly fast, *not to mention the fact he makes these rappers people love and listen to and identify with and define their lives by look like wack ass posers and amateurs, consequently making people feel dumb for liking them.* Dizaster is so fucking good at battle rap he turned "I'm ridiculously, blatantly better than whoever I'm battling" *into his gimmick.* Diz has a level of skill so high, he made people give up trying to say he's not advanced and instead try to think of ways to say that advanced rapping is lame.

They only say that because he comes loaded with so much ammo it's like a soldier using a tank to kill a mosquito. He's total overkill. Especially on the battle where he notebooked Canibus by round 2 and finished off his remains in round 3 -- prior to which Canibus apparently called out Diz first and after which Diz mentioned in the interview that he himself was _holding back during the last round_ -- there are still people going on and on about how Canibus has a more lucrative career than Diz, how Canibus "in his prime" would have blah blah blah and so on, and the haters do that in every battle Diz participates in. In truth, every time someone argues that another rapper beat Diz, said rapper "beat" him because of style (Pat using the friendly joker persona to appeal to the crowd and counter Diz's angry demeanor, Cassidy staying calm and throwing an imitation of Diz's style back in his face, etc.) and not substance; in terms of sheer lyricism and speed, Dizaster is basically untouchable at this point. I can't think of any other battle rapper that can rhyme so long, so much, and so fast.

Being real honest here, Dizaster had more complex lines but Pat had more clever & funny bars and his flow is just off the charts. Probably in the top 5 best flow of battle rappers.
Dizasters triplets in the 2nd round that flowed from the beginning till the "sip that thru a straw" line ended it, was one of my favorite runs ever. I still see this as a draw, both got off great material, great battle all around.
