Very true… this community hides a lot and I don’t understand cause we are literally countries away, it’s not like we going to rob them… they always hide and expect us to follow them. It’s annoying
"if you have the dream already, you're more than halfway there because putting the pieces into place, figuring out the how, is what the magic of life is all about" Love this!
You guys are really awesome. 1976, I purchased a ford Econoline put some tires install a bed and left San Fransisco and drove to Santiago Chile, it took me 3 month to get there, in Colombia I got broken in and they took all my camera gear, then in Ecuador they stole two tires and to get rims to match it was a nightmare but I made it and still today I remember what a great adventure it was. but now I can't imagine doing that trip again due to all the politic conflicts and getting visas etc. You are my true heroes, enjoy your dream. Love you guys.
First gen tundra camper builds are my favorite toyota truck camper builds. Id rock one if wasnt in love with my first gen 4runner. Seriously look into the om16 swaps into it. You can get a motor with 400hp plus and close to 30mpg. They are bullet proof like 2jz and rev like mad too. Good luck on your build and dont forgot to make use of that space inside the bed sides!
You both are such an inspiration, even for an Aussie in his mid 50's... who still doesn't know what to do when I grow up 😆... Agree with all you guys say... Live the dream!!!
I looked at your subscriber count for the first time ever and was shocked. I could have sworn you had so many more--you definitely deserve it! Been following you guys for a while now. 'Wish you guys the best!
One of my favorite videos you two have created. I try to teach my daughters to find their dream and make it real. I know I have and that has made all the difference.
I love this! I'm in the beginning stages of rebuilding my own 1978 Chinook Newport! Mines not nearly as beefy as yours as it's on the original drivetrain, but still amazing. I know nothing about rebuilding the back, but I'm figuring it out. I love following your journey!
Respect the hard work and time you have to put into something like this, plus the time it takes to share it with us. You guys are killing it. Also I am in love with that flannel, please let me know what brand it is 😂
Hey really enjoy watching the build and am slowly workin through your vids. Just finished Belize so will at some point get caught up. Cheers to you both for workin hard to fulfill your dream!! Now I do have one question, what are your thoughts on the new 2024 Taco?
Damn y’all really are pushing me as well on my Ambo build And myself . I’m also a truck Flipper slash fabricator for 25 years have a bunch of skills and building my Ultimate rig as well. 86 f350 ambo. Cummins swapped f550 axles and 41” tires etc. I’m also a Toyota junkie. And pretty much selling off all my excess things to make this happen. I plan to hit Baja /9/24 and following behind your path. Thank you both from the heart love You guys
I like your honesty, I think people misunderstand the prep time and hard work before as its a sacrifice what ever you do. Be that a steady job in BC or being on the road neither is a free ride. Its interesting seeing how some people view the overlanding/vanlife thing as being natural and for everybody. You can see how this effected some people in both ends of the spectrum with being asked to stay indoors or wear something with Covid turbo charged some people and others who wore tinfoil hats, I am originally from NZ so we have a good supply of "alternative lifestyle" people wanting to get away from it all. Being two people in 48sq/ft can give people cabin fever and it is now a very competitive arena to make a living off it in 2024. I have seen alot of people lean into the "This will be great for RUclips" where it dilutes their enjoyment of travel, but also destroy their relationship. The idea that you can't go back or pause the trip is also a spectre that can haunt people too. Having had that foundation of confidence built before I left, not just the travelling itself was the key. Spending a year in Cuba and living away from the tourists meant I now understand why people love religion in what ever form it takes as you gain happiness from making others happy, the Columbian lady where you camped on a School basketball court making you coffee was your high five with humanity. Maybe you should go back and have dinner, the offer was there? On a positive note I think its good to see a fresh approach to this, you are using a drone, starlink, and a tablet instead of a Lonely Planet and Che Guevara's motorcycle diaries as I did in the '90s. I like the idea of throwing the drone up not just to see where you have been, but also to see if the road goes somewhere over the hill. I lost all my photos, equipment, everything and that's ok with me as I realised it was my journey. Its nice you have this in the cloud not just on a wall or in a laptop in the living room.
thank you for all the great content. its always a blessing to watch you guys live the best life you can. your traveling has inspired me to build my landcruiser in northern bc and drive. just drive.
interesting story! you two seem to have a very similar dynamic to my wife and I. She's the government worker (the stable income) and I'm the full time youtuber. I knew I had to go hard and not give up, that's the key to youtube, consistency and never giving up. it's an absolute shit ton of work, like A SHIT TON, people have no clue. you guys obviously understand. If you ever have any questions moving forward about sponsor deals, full time youtube income, etc ( I don't think you need help) give me a shout. and if you wanna hang out and go wheeling one day with the wife and I, lemme know!
Thank you so much for watching! And sending us words that hit home. It is incredibly hard, and also so rewarding. The balance is what keeps us going! Would love to chat, instagram?
Thank you so much for this video. It is encouraging. I love the transparency especially on the financial side. This is rare and never seen on German YT Channels. I'm looking forward to much more videos from you guys.
Hey Mathew and Stacy, I agree with everything you said. I’m in my mid 60’s now and have lived my life for travel. In 1979 I went to Australia for the first time. I came home and went to Uni for a business degree. When I started work in a professional capacity that gave me the income to take 6 weeks off for another trip to Australia. As I only had 3 weeks of annual leave I had to sacrifice by working two years to earn the time off. I then did the same procedure again in order to go backpacking to Kenya and Tanzania for 6 weeks. Those trips whetted my appetite for more so in 1988 I quit my job and backpacked around the world for a year starting with a 4 month Trans-Africa trip from England to Kenya. I paid for the year of travelling by selling the only thing I owned, my Toyota truck. When I came home I fell into a consulting role and turned that self employment opportunity into a wonderful lifestyle of maintaining my professional career while still taking annual backpacking trips of 3 to 4 months at a time. Sacrifices were made along the way, I didn’t purchase a house, didn’t spend my money on cars, avoided relationships and saved as much as I could for my next trip. It was great. Then one day I was offered a permanent position that I felt I shouldn’t say no to. It gave me a good income and 6 weeks of annual leave so I could still travel. Best of both worlds in my mind, how could I ask for anything more. Well then I met the love of my life, we had so much in common, especially the love of travel. Our form of travel changed as we started a family right away and now only took 3 week vacations but I’m proud to say that from the time our son was just 1 year old we continued to travel the world with him. Sometimes we pulled him out of school but the education he received by seeing other countries and experiencing new cultures was far greater than he ever would get sitting in a classroom. By the time our son turned 20 he had been to 22 countries and is right now planning his first solo trip for later this summer. Sometimes there are bumps in the road and it takes a lot to keep the dream alive. In my case it was a cancer diagnosis. It took more than two years to recover and I still have on going issue but we continued to take an annual trip overseas. My wife and I are retired now and do multiple trips per year. It does take a lot of sacrifices and a self awareness of what one truly values in life but as you said, when you climb those mountains, the view is fantastic. Travel on!
First admission on my part is that I never watch this sort of video and if it wasn't you guys, I wouldn't have watched this one. Wow, for those that listen, this brief video is packed full of lessons, not only on obtaining dream, but just life in general. You guys could seriously teach Master's level classes in life. Stacy, you views on sacrifice, dedication and achievement are inspiring as well as instructional. Matthew, you are a man that was set to blow, you just needed the spark that you found in Stacy. You really do seem to make a great team.
Thank you so much for this, Phil. Thank you for watching, and being a part of this journey. You dissected this video perfectly, and have inspired us even more with your words. Cheers!
Congratulations on achieving what you set out to do. Watching your videos from close to the beginning, I seen a lot of the work that it took to get to where you’re at today. I’m sure we’re missing a lot more that didn’t end up on video but was all part of the struggle. My friends and I years ago did a lot of off-roading and struggled every week just to fix and improve our trucks so we didn’t break down the following weekend 😂. Glad to be able to watch your adventures.
Educational, inspirational and also very entertaining !! You guys took a dream and made it a reality, come what may. Hats off to you both - reminding me so much of the Zapp Family. Have dream .. .. .. if you do not start on it NOW, then when ? Only the best to you two - waiting for the next episode - go slow, go safe and enjoy .. .. .. you are living it all !! Best.
Greetings from the finally sunny and seasonally appropriate temps south Okanagan, thanks for another interesting video. As a semi-geezer who has been married for more than 40 years and working on various life projects, I see you both have found a couple key things for success. The ability to set goals, then work towards them with the same work ethic and effort is huge to successful relationships. That's what I've seen and experienced anyways. Safe travels and Happy Easter you two.
Happy Easter from the coast of Baja! Thanks again for watching. We have to admit that although challenging at times, this journey has taught us lessons you don’t learn in books, and has truly shown us what is important in life.
@@ToyotaWorldRunners Thanks for the reply again. I would opine that just the preparation for such a journey exceeds what many tech and university courses would teach anyone. Not slamming either of those institutions, just making an observation based upon a lifetime of - well making observations. :)
Thank you so much! We knew of each other from our small town in Nanaimo through different high schools. It wasn’t until I sold my Tacoma and was on the hunt for a first gen 4Runner that we connected. Matthew was selling his, and I went to test drive it (I didn’t end up buying his) but he sent me the link a couple weeks later to Jade. I bought her, and she ended up being the biggest lemon of the Toyota world. Naturally, I needed a mechanic, and Matthew fit the job, and that planted the seed. Now, jade is a symbol of the beginning of us!
You guys are so awesome and inspiring! Thanks for so much great Yota content giving me dreams of how to build my 85 out. Planning on ditching society and living in it across the country for a year before I teach English in Thailand !
Thanks for sharing the nitty gritty and making these videos. It’s inspiring us to keep working on our rig setup and get out camping as often as possible! We plan to explore the backroads/trails of BC this summer (up from Colorado)
The thing is, when i dream and when I wake up, i forget what i dream. Toyota porn is the best. Great video, y'all two. Be safe and live happy. We are on this planet a short time. Smiles per mile.
Very motivational video. Thanks for sharing the story. My girlfriend and I are currently in the same place building our dream to travel around like you guys and make just enough cash to keep going. We recently picked up and left our home in Ontario to come live on the island in a motorhome just so we could experience this beautiful country but also not go broke while doing so haha. Maybe we'll see you guys somewhere down the road. Cheers !
It was rare! But definitely helped with the saving part. We wish we could come home to rent that cheap again haha. The struggle balances perfectly with the elation we’ve noticed.
Hey guys great job and nice work on acheiving your dream and creating some nice content for us to follow along! Enjoy your trip it is the trip of a lifetime! When you get home...Work hard, bust your butts...and start putting some money towards retirement funds. Doesn't have to be a lot. They say 15% of your income is sufficient. You will be glad you did if you start at this young age! Freedom comes in many forms...You are experiencing one of them right now. But let me tell you, freedom from financial concerns is also nice and gives you other freedoms as well. Then take some more trips! :-)
You all remind me of an a classic Jim Rohn quote, "Become a millionaire, not for the million dollars, but for what it will make of you to achieve it". Keep living the good life!
I'm enjoying every moment of each of your videos. You both remind me of my younger self, doggedly perusing my dream. I did achieve my dream too, a few of them at this stage in my life (59 yrs) and now, I'm embarking on a dream very much like yours, and I hope you follow me as well. My plan is almost just like yours, except I'm building a truck mounted camper which I'll manufacture on a small scale, and drag a box trailer full of toys including my modular boat which I've been manufacturing for the past 14 years called Expandacraft. I'll also be keeping to paved roads in the USA and Canada. RV campsites will be a contributor to my travels as well a bicycle brand and an outdoor outfitter. Product placement will be a good part of my sponsorships. That brings me to a request, I'd love to chat with you two about your sponsorships and see what this lifelong entrepreneur can learn from the new guard. I'm sure I have a few things I could share with you which I've learned over the years doing what I love to do for a living. Stacie, you spoke to me when you were talking about reaching a time where you just had to go all in. Well, that was me when I was your age, and it still is. Wesley
Great video - I think as much as being transparent to your followers, I am betting you shut off the camera and said "you know something , we did sacrifice a lot to be here - and we're here!" Ps - Dad says he will handle the Craft Beer Easter Hunt this year - not to worry! Much love 💙
I love the financial transparency. Rare to hear YT'ers talk about credit and debits in this popular topic.

A journey to find a job you enjoy to make sure you’re not spending money to fill the void when you’re not working.
Epic statement!
"The mountains that you climb hold the treasures that you seek" Thank you for the wise ending Matt, I'll write that down.

Great job kids and keep on living your dream
Hey Mathew and Stacy, I agree with everything you said. I’m in my mid 60’s now and have lived my life for travel. In 1979 I went to Australia for the first time. I came home and went to Uni for a business degree. When I started work in a professional capacity that gave me the income to take 6 weeks off for another trip to Australia. Thanks for such an honest content guys.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
Awsome, thanks for sharing. The youtube struggle is real! 650 per month here on the island! Damn! Taking that leap is scary, but worth it.
How did you use the drone so professionally..
Another great video folks! Sending hype from van island
We love the Van Island hype! Thank you!
You all remind me of an a classic Jim Rohn quote, "Become a millionaire, not for the million dollars, but for what it will make of you to achieve it". Keep living the good life!
Thank you for this! Jim Rohn has some quotes to live by indeed.
Awesome 😊
Awesome video guys ! It sure is surreal doing this. We love cows too !
Cows!! Livestock has a special place in our hearts when it comes to travelling (mostly Stacey)
Thanks for watching!
@@ToyotaWorldRunners Kristin is the same. Can’t help but saying cows every time we pass some
I'm enjoying every moment of each of your videos. Wesley
Holly fuck. Thank you both. Much love. ❤❤❤. Xxx
Do you guys have any tips or things one would need to know before trying to mate a old Toyota camper onto an 80 series chassis?
I'm assuming you watching the build series? Other than that... Less wood, more aluminum! And make the top lift higher.
Do you plan to drive back from the end of the trip south?
If funds allow and we’re having fun, yes!
Who Inspired you guys RUclipswise ?
A stong focus of intention.
I can relate to y'all 👌🏻🍻 💯
That was a great vid 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Trying to figure out what tactical skills were learned in the film industry
Great video - I think as much as being transparent to your followers, I am betting you shut off the camera and said "you know something , we did sacrifice a lot to be here - and we're here!" Ps - Dad says he will handle the Craft Beer Easter Hunt this year - not to worry! Much love 💙
We may be booking flights home for that hunt!! Dads no good at finding things… he needs our help!
U guys kick so much butt hahaha 🎉
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Do you still have the yeti
Oh they do. But it’s the wildernest that Frank really wants 😉😄
Haha yes!! We still have all of the rigs
Amazing rig for 1/3 the price of a trust-fund wagon. Well done, the fact that you are doing it at this age is incredible.
Thank you very much!
🤘🏻😎👍🏻
Has RUclips helped monetarily? Been stuck trying to get on the road for two years now but with a family of 6 it’s hard to save up lol 😂
Yes. Our bills are low being on the road, but RUclips has helped us stay afloat.
@@ToyotaWorldRunners good to know keep up the great work! #roundeyes
I am guessing no children. How do you family feel about travelling through dangerous countries. By the way you are a mechanic genius.
No kids yet! And the families are very supportive. They know we’re smart and use our intuition well.
Awesome 😊
