This was FANTASTIC!!! I am very proud of my country farm heritage from the rural Sandhills of NC!!! My mom is 84 and she grew up picking cotton on the family farm when she was about 6 years old. You’re correct. She would tell me how cut up/chewed up her hands would be from the throrns that surround the cotton pods. Thanks for this great video!!!
Thank you so much and I am so glad that you shared your comment. It was HARD work and we aren't that far removed from a time where people had to work like that, just to eat! Makes me more appreciative of how easy we have it. Hope your day is great! xoxo
Lindy I found this so fascinating!!! I especially loved the dying process- that intrigues me so much as a knitter. Your quilts are stunning - would you consider doing a video about quilting? I love the skeins (I pronounce it like knees) that you made. The sound of those carders is amazing! I thought the wheel would be louder but it’s such a great sound and you are right it’s hypnotic
@@Angelonmyshoulder hi my wonderful friend! Thank you for the clarification in the pronunciation! I’m gonna have to send you some of those skins of my yarn. Maybe you can knit up something pretty with it.💕 Regarding the quilts. Thank you very much! And yes, I should put together a quilt video for y’all. 🤗
Another fascinating video! I could listen to you talk all day. My mom has a spinning wheel that got passed down from my great grandma. Of course it’s strictly decorative now but I always wondered how it actually worked and made yarn so it was really interesting to watch you spin. Thanks for sharing!
That is so neat that you have a spinning wheel in your family! It’s wonderful to have those kinds of heirlooms, isn’t it? Thanks for always being such a great supporter to the channel, Ginny. Have a good evening! xoxo, Lindy
Absolutely magnificent video im almost 60yoa and a bloke, when we were kids my brother went through a phase of learning to knit but i decided to learn stitching but i Absolutely love your videos mainly your beautiful accent and tranquil tone and the fact that you are so beautiful also helps lol but i love certain aspects of Historical information ❤❤❤❤
@Oni-Ryu8 well I’m so glad you learned stitching! Was it embroidery or sewing? I taught our boys how to sew on a button, and do a simple hem stitch. That’s important information to know ( so I’m glad you can do it, bloke or not. ) 😉Thanks for watching and for the kind comment.
Hey Lindy, Wow I can just see you sitting spinning cotton. I think I learned more about cotton in this video than I ever knew. Actually, I think this was the first time I ever saw cotton in its raw form up close like this. Very informative and interesting, I know I couldn’t do that work. I have a lot of respect for anybody that could do that job. Especially by hand. I personally only like to wear cotton and it’s so hard to find good cotton clothing in today’s world. So my respect level for people who did this work in earlier years is immense. Needless to say, my wardrobe is not that big. I have a really hard time wearing anything other than cotton. Such a lovely experience wishing you a warm holiday season. I hope everything‘s going well for you and your family. I certainly missed seeing you on here on my nightly round of ASMR videos. Take care my sweet friend and I hope to see you soon. Love you!! Esme’♥️🌟💚
Thank you Esme! You are so sweet. I love the way you think about things, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I hope your holiday season is warm and happy too! 😊 xoxo, Lindy P.S. Linen is my new "go-to" fabric. I've been buying 100% linen sheets and making dresses and night shirts out of it. I LOVE it!
I grew up around a lot of fiber artists (my mom was a spinner, and even still teaches classes on it) and as i remember it: cotton is difficult to spin just generally because of the short staple length, and basically nobody would spin it on the type of wheel you showed. More often, a small spindle (you dont want it to be too heavy) or a small "charkha" book style spinning wheel.
Hi Rosie! Thank you for watching and for letting me know about the small spindle! That is so neat that your mom spins and teaches. Hope your day is great!
i just got done reading the book 📖 Sheepology 🐑. What a coincidence! I am learning about sheep and someday I’ll like to spin my own wool. I’ll like to spin cashmere. Also, I’ll like to purchase a cashmere goat 🐐. So yeah, this video was right in time. Love from the mid-west ❤.
How about that! I love when things like that happen. Have you ever kept goats? ( I wonder if cashmere goats behave better than boer goats?) ;) Lots of fun! Let me know how things progress for you. Thanks for watching and I hope your day is great!
This was really nice, very soothing and interesting. As for some of the comments on audio, I haven't found that moving down from 1080 affects volume. I have found that videos where people are doing something often the audio is not as loud. For ASMR it seems like you need to be really close to the mic and have the gain up. The hat was beautiful!
A quick note about your audio level. I listened to the first minute or so on my TV, and the audio was so low, I could barely hear it. So I tried listening on my phone, and the audio was fine. I haven’t watched the whole video yet, and I’m not sure why that’s happening, but don’t be surprised if you get some concerns about your audio levels.
Oh goodness. I’m not sure what is going on. I have listened to it on my phone, and my computer and the audio sounds consistent throughout the whole video- on my end. I wish I could help you.
I found this- If the audio in this video sounds inconsistent, you can try turning off "Stable Volume" on RUclips to potentially improve the sound quality: Go to the video settings (gear icon) on the player, then uncheck the box next to "Stable Volume"; this will disable RUclips's automatic volume leveling feature, allowing you to hear the original audio fluctuations as intended.
@ The “stable volume” setting on my TV RUclips is always set to off. So what I did was the opposite; I turned it on, and your audio immediately increased to a normal level! So if other folks have the same issue, that could be a fix for them. But my hunch is, your audio is natively low. If I go to “stats for nerds” for example, it tells me that your audio is “-20.3 db.”, which means it’s 20 decibels lower than it should be. It also tells me that you’re recording in 720p, which is kind of low for these days. Most recordings are 1080p and above. Don’t get me wrong, even at 720p, you still look great! Just some food for thought.
Thank you very much for this! It’s helpful for me to know. So I appreciate you! I will work on the audio on my end. And as far as the lower quality recording goes.-🤦🏼♀️ That’s been a real headache. It was recorded in 1080 originally, but it took six hours to upload. I finally had to delete it, make my quality lower and then re-upload it again. It finally uploaded faster when the quality was less. I’ve found that to be true with most of the videos that I upload. (smaller file size takes a lot less time to upload.)

Do any of you who watch my videos have any experience with raising sheep? 🐑Let me know in the comments.

A support spindle would be a good choice as well.
Although, none of that solves your cleaning the fiber problem!

Thank you! 😃

awe, shucks.

Would u ever do a fabric scratching video ?
Yes!

Tv needs turning up I find on most videos on RUclips
