    Hello, Dad here… I am reading all the love you guys are passing along to Morgan and our family.. I’ve decided and recommend it to Morgan for the benefit of our ecological world of global warming. Starting immediately once a week she will need to profess her love and appreciation to Justin so you guys can cry and cry and cry productively to capture all those tears in that water to solve the water crisis and, drought conditions. Lots of love to all of you for we share each other’s lives. Love dad Aka: FKS

    Story 1 - Unless there was major, intensive therapy for and improvement by the dad, I’d be leaving him. Any parent that looks at their child, especially an infant, as a sexual or romantic opponent has deep seeded issues that should have been taken care of before they started having unprotected sex. I’d be scared if my partner said shit like that, I’d be terrified my child would be abused in the future, especially once they start going through puberty.

    • @violet-pn7fo
      @violet-pn7fo Год назад +68

      Absolutely! after having your first child there's a huge difference between general resentment due to lack of attention from your partner and resentment because you see your newborn son as a romantic rival, he literally sees his wife as nothing but a sexual object and can't even separate that when she's caring for their shared child, totally sick

    • @Aquaphor351

    • @maggiedk

      This!!! It also blows my mind that no one talked about her going, "you know I have to take care of the baby first" with seemingly no thought of... You know... The baby's dad actually helping to take care of him? It's just treated like it's automatically the mom's responsibility to take care of their child AND her husband. It's so gross and all the more reason for her to leave him. Better off doing it alone than with a selfish, creepy asshole who makes it even harder for you.

    1st Lauren Story: For non birthing parents it’s considered Antenatal and postnatal depression. In case anyone would like to look more into this. 💗

    • @Rachel-xg7hs
      @Rachel-xg7hs Год назад +18

      Very interesting. I have been getting really tired of them calling it “postpartum” depression for people who have never even been pregnant, or maybe can’t ever get pregnant at all (such as the father of the child). I totally get what they’re trying to raise awareness of, but using the term postpartum for someone who has not birthed a child seems dismissive of what someone who has given birth goes through. It’s a huge life change for everyone involved, I agree. But the physical changes you go through to have a baby are not the same as what you go through when a baby is brought into the house.

      No it's not. antenatal also called prenatal and postnatal depression are still the birthing person issue, however it can also affect the non birthing person too.
      Antenatal/prenatal (they mean the exact same thing) means before giving birth, postnatal means after birth and mean the exact same as pre and post partum and refer to the birthing person.
      In the UK we use the term prenatal, antenatal ( I don't think antenatal is used much now but when I was younger pregnancy care, classes etc where called antenatal care, antenatal classes etc) and postnatal, in the USA they use the term pre and post partum.
      Antenatal, postnatal and prenatal means exactly the same as pre partum and post partum. It can also be called perinatal too, perinatal is the more longer term, whereas postnatal is immediately after, perinatal means more in the longer term
      But the terms antenatal, post natal and prenatal just means the same as prepartum and postpartum and whatever ten used can affect both the birthing person or the non birthing person.

    • @okyep
      @okyep Год назад

      @@gameplaygirl3268it's still post partum because post partum refers to the time frame after birth and not a specific event only a birth giver would experience. Like semantics I get it but it's not wrong technically

    Lots of people do Reddit reacts, particularly AITA, but few nail it like THT. With reoccurring and rotating co-hosts, there's always a variety of opinions. I particularly enjoy the dedication to telling the whole story. Lots of folks who just dabble in the format will only read/react to the original post. When they move on, I'm always like, "Wait, what about the comments? Did OP reply or clarify? I need updates!" Meanwhile, over here, Morgan will track down posts from alternate accounts in different subreddits and stitch together the remains of half-deleted threads. The effort is noticed and appreciated!

    The inheritance story: OP comments were missing that I think applies a lot of context to the situation. The account has since been deleted but you can get the drift through the replies.
    Sam was basically a glass child. OP and her husband focused on Emma their whole life because they considered her the one that has the most needs. The husband said he wanted it split 50/50 before he died. There was also a comment from OP about the dad giving Sam an eating disorder when she was younger and being emotionally abusive towards her. OP carried on that favoritism towards Emma by paying half of Emma’s rent and expenses her whole adult life.
    There was a few comments by redditors saying Sam might also have ADHD but it presented itself differently through an ED and always working and trying to prove herself.
    With that context I think this is more of a case of Sam feeling tossed aside again for her sister by her mom. It appears the parents were neglectful and possibly emotionally abusive towards Sam.
    I usually am not someone to jump on the no contact train but I hope Sam goes no contact and go lives a happy life with the family and life she’s built for herself.
    THANK YOU FOR 100 EPISODES! So glad I came across this channel and it really does feel like a community. Can’t wait to see what the future holds!

      I'm a glass child myself. I understand where Sam is coming from. I would react the same. It's not a money issue, it's a behavior and communication issue from OP. My parents always had deep rooted issues and favoritism towards my brother stemming from my brother's twin passing away at birth.
      My brother also have ADHD and only prioritize fun to "adult things". Never finished high school because he didn't want to. Switch jobs like it is a T-shirt. Indulge in drugs and alcool.
      My parents are still giving him money monthly to cover expenses. Paid for 3 cars he ruined under 6 months each time. Endorsed debt for him which they ended up having to pay because he wasn't paying it and it was ruining their credit. He got my parent's house at a ridiculous price (250K$ under market value it's a not a high value house either). At one point he wanted to sell it to pay drug and consumer debt... 🤦‍♀️ They are compromising their retirement for his misbehaviors. It enrages me. They worked so hard for it and he's going to get it all and I know i'm not going to get any because there will be none left and not because they lived a good retirement.
      In contrast, Im a CPA with a good income (not as much as Sam tho, I wished 😂). I also struggle with ADD but worked through it by finding a true passion in personnal finance and accounting helping families in need, not for profit organizations, friends and family.
      Since I was "good" at school and I never had problems, my parents never paid attention to me. They were always gone to my brother's baseball or hockey games.
      The only time they would, it's when my grades were bad (below A), they would "discipline" me.
      And at the same time, my brother would come back with D's and they would congratulate him.
      As a kid i never understood why and I resented them.
      Now that I am a mom, I do understand why. Loosing a child must have been a traumatic experience but it doesnt excuse their behavior.
      I'm more angry towards my brother now because I know he knowingly takes advantage of it (i.e. he would use his brother's death in arguments to make my parents shut up) and it breaks my heart.
      Sorry I rambled for so long just to say I think OP is an AH 😂 I feel I am a Sam. The forgotten child. The one they brag about to their friends to make them look good but never acknowledge.
      Like Morgan always says, I think I need therapy 😂

    I’m 21 F from NZ- Watching this while working from home, like I have with the other 99 episodes since you started. Since you started, you have successfully advised me out of a VERY toxic, abusive relationship and lifestyle into a happy and healthy one; just through reinforcing what is and isn’t okay through hot takes. I’m the last of 7 children, and am the ONLY ONE who has been able to establish healthy boundaries and a loving relationship with our parents. I study psychology now and work for the government (was working at a gas station before). I have good friends now, and I love myself and my life. This is mostly thanks to you guys, you’re the healthy insight I never had, and now I can be that for others. I love you all 💘

      Me and my brother both have adhd. He can’t hold down a job to save his life, neither could I until my diagnosis and I had to put a lot of work into developing coping strategies and working with my brain rather than against it. I’d honestly be so pissed if I was then essentially punished for doing better than him because he would rather rely on handouts than put any effort into helping himself

      I dont think Emma has severe ADHD. I mean it is very noticeable and would've been diagnosed much sooner, unless the parents were neglectful and didnt care enough to get a proper diagnosis.
      Also, I am around the same age as Emma and my friend is 29. She was diagnosed with severe ADHD at age 8.
      With proper treatment and support she was able to graduate higher secondary school and have the option to go to university.
      Being diagnosed as teen is late, but if you put in the work, the kid can still thrive academically.
      I think it's totally on the parents here and Sam shouldnt suffer for it. On that note I agree with @Chelsea Hayllar .

      i also have ADHD but i got really lucky, and while it does make my life hell, it i wasn’t detectable to anyone except my dad and I and my ex girlfriends mom, and the professional that diagnosed me. well everyone except the professional thought I was autistic, and my ADHD has impacted my social interactions more than my education and working. I’m in high school, and i’m able to take AP classes with 4 hours of homework a night each. I can pay attention and fully dedicate to my work at a volunteer kitchen where we cook and clean. For me, I have the “attention deficit” more than the hyperactivity, and the ADHD block is the worst issue I have. I got diagnosed at 16, and it’s a lot easier to learn this stuff in your teen years or childhood. I found the right medication, and it keeps me hyperfocused on tasks to the point where I don’t eat because I can’t put the work down. And all of this was pure chance. Of people who suffer from ADHD, I got really lucky in the healthcare, family support, socioeconomic background, and other brain chemistry (severe anxiety that forces me to complete my work even when I haven’t slept in days) that somehow led me to be able to live normally for a try hard high school kid. i also only have to worry about forgetting homework rather than forgetting to pay bills and things so I have less stress, and i’m in a better state than most while Im learning about my brain. i got so lucky and it’s NOT fair. we need to improve our systems to adapt to non neurotypicals. It’s not that ADHD people can’t hold jobs like they should, it’s that jobs need to be more ADHD friendly, and friendly to other disorders. more research needs to be done about neurological disorders, specifically research on brains that aren’t of 5 year old boys.

      @@blandcoffeeamv4107women are notoriously underdiagnosed for adhd, because often the symptoms differ. also, even ten years ago there was a lot less awareness on adhd.

    • @ejcannon5897
      @ejcannon5897 8 месяцев назад

      @@blandcoffeeamv4107I would just like to offer a different perspective (8 months later lol). Most women do not get an accurate diagnosis until their late 30s or 40s (including severe ADHD) and this is often only because they have a child with the disorder. There is also a lot of new (desperately needed) research that woman may actually develop symptoms later in life comparative to men. Often this can lead to a total collapse for women who seemingly are high achieving, put together adults as responsibilities grow with age and their coping skills or lack thereof are tested. With that being said, woman with undiagnosed ADHD often have low esteem and operate from a place of learned helplessness coupled with minimal to no coping skills. So while I have a somewhat different perspective on this and a lot of empathy being one of these aforementioned women, I do think the best thing for Emma is as one commenter said to foster her independence. She is already at a disadvantage and that coupled with the low esteem, feelings of hopelessness and lack of coping skills is debilitating. Bottom line the medical research and healthcare communities need to do better. Either way I wish all of us the best in navigating our respective diagnoses and appreciate all the varying perspectives on this issue!

    Ok, the story about the inheritance gets me…Emma is 32 & just finished high school, she didn’t get the help she needed so she’s probably going to struggle regardless of financial situation. As a parent, inheritance is to help your children, she’s just trying to take care of the child she’s worried can’t care for herself as easily. As a sister, I would be understanding if I was in this situation.

    • @lais.v.m
      @lais.v.m Год назад +22

      absolutely. i’m latina and was just telling my mom about this story because i thought the approach to this subject was rather... odd(?). my parents always taught me that money is a TOOL to live life;
      there’s no reason why the daughter who has an extensive financial net and exponentially greater financial stability than her sister should be offended or hurt by not getting money (something she doesn’t need).
      if the discussion was about personal belongings, family heirlooms and things of this sort (meaning: things that have emotional value) i’d definitely say that the split should be equal... but that’s not the case, the reality is money isn’t familial love, it is a means to get through life and the younger sister doesn’t need the money for anything other than to sooth her ego.
      (and, just to make sure i address this: IF something so grave happens that the youngest’s financial situation is as bad or worse than her sister’s, the mom can and should change the will. as it is currently - with the information presented- i’d say the older daughter should get 100% of the money)

      My sister and brother are 14 and 18 years older than me respectively. They are very much well set in their lives, where as I (23 at the time of writing this), am struggling hard being a single mom and the economy at the moment. My moms will is divided up to benefit me more monetarily as she doesnt really have assets at the moment like cars and houses. So the money is split three ways, but I would get a tad bit more as of right now. My brother and sister are more than understanding, considering the vast differences in our lives at the moment. But I think they key difference is that my mom has expressed that once I am in a better and more secure situation financially and what not, that it would go back to being even! I def dont think it's a matter of picking favorites but just a mother truly trying to figure out the best situation for her kids she will be leaving behind.

    The second story really hits home. Only one of my breasts wanted to grow. I had one pretty much flat one and the other one was severall sizes bigger. It affected my day to day life so much. I only had tops on that went almost all the way up to my neck. I went swimming in a bra and clothes. The way it affected my mental health and the way i always had to think when getting clothes. And the fear of not being accepted by the guy i liked. The woman who comments on her chest is so cruel. It probably took her alot of time to accept her body and be happy with the way she looks. Then for this other woman to try and tear her down! F*** her!!! She knows better then to comment on another womans breasts. The fact that she is able too be happy with her small chest is amazing! I wish i had someone like her to look up too when i was younger. This just makes me so mad. I ended up having surgery. To have two very different sizes is extremly inpractical lol. Noone should be bullied into having surgery. It is a choise that should be made by the person who had the body, and everyone else should shut up about it. I hope karma has come and bit the sister inlaw in the ass.

In therapy I learned to address an issue like that by saying, “When you do X, the story I make up is…” it’s not accusations, it’s being vulnerable about where you’re feeling insecure. So listen, business idea. Take the best stories, make a Jerry playlist, have him read them, and let him go through any and all tangents he wants and give everyone dad advice by himself. I love when he reads the stories and his tangents. They would be the perfect body double podcast episodes for ADHD productivity purges

    Morgan, I am a 32 year old Minnesota born and raised work from home business owner and stepmom of four. I have been listening and watching your show on RUclips since the beginning and I cannot even explain to you how much joy it brings me!! I’m sure from your perspective it’s hard to wrap your head around who your listeners are. But we are real people who can relate to you and these stories very well! There is no other podcast that I listen to more while I am working at home on my couch. I get giddy when I see a new episode pop up every Thursday when I am done with my babysitting job. I have honestly worked this show into my life and I want you to know that your hard work has not gone unnoticed! You are all fantastic and one of my top choices for entertainment!! Thank you for all that you have done!!
