Whenever I go to run a game it takes me to a black screen and then retroarch crashes, any idea why?

I can't get my GameCube and Wii games to work they're all installed and extracted and I'm on the d 11 output setting . I got the dolphin zip and extracted it . Can anyone help out ? I'm in Dev mode. It boots me out off the app anytime I load a Wii game or GameCube
Figured out my HDD corrupted from keeping on unplugging it and plugging it in my phone . I had to format it . Now I just copy games through Durango and CX file explorer and go to the e drive . It's a little bit slow but I get 5 PS2 or GameCube / Wii games in 20 mins give or take a few seconds .

I have retroarch set up in dev mode. What confuses me is getting games like GameCube for example to load on it. I’ve never been good at attempting this stuff
Only thing annoying is the controller set up mine acting like I don’t hv controller set up on computer and even retroarch input settings not helping I’m playing wrestlemania xix buttons not functionin properly lol

Same issue here, you trying to boot from external?
Change your version of retroarch potentially and make sure you download the dolphin bios, ftp the games into your retroarch downloads folder on your Xbox
I'm having a problem... the Dolphin core doesn't recognize any input from my controller, only thing that could make it work was wiping my retroarch config file and setting it to default. But as soon as I reconfigured all my stuff again the same problem occurred. What could this be?
Could be the emulation not recognizing your config as the one being used. Try setting up a hotkey to open the quick menu and check the inputs there. Also make sure you follow the step at 7:07 too.
Meanwhile, I am having an issue where my startup does not show whatsoever for GameCube games, despite having followed exactly what he said and did.

Hi! Is there a chance that someday you make a video about how to configure retro arch for playing online? No matter how much I try it's keep show me the same message "Your room isn't connected".
I can try to look into it, but off the top of my head I’d say that because you’re running within the Xbox live environment, it won’t let you connect like it would if you were running RA on a PC or other device. I’ll need to do some reading up on this!

hell yea! thanks so much bro. I installed simpsuns hit and run. wasn't able to find the windows app file under S\\ so I used the D location. Also I couldn't nintendo game/wii core so I used the one titled dolphin.libretro.dll . Must have been an update or something idk why I coudnt find Nintendo gamecube/wii core. so I used the other one titled dolphin and it worked
For some reason when I press the game it just shows a black screen but with the game audio. Do you know why that would happen?
Double check that your video driver is set to D3D11, and also check that you have the rewind feature turned off as that seems to cause a few issues. Otherwise, are you trying to boot from a flash drive or the internal storage?
On some games it tells me that an error has occured and to turn off console and check the booklet and I dont know why its done it to over half my games
Okay, so that’s the same error you’d see if you were running a disc that was damaged, so I’m going to hazard to say that the issue is coming from the iso files you’re using. What format are your games in?

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why GC and Wii games refuse to load on Retroarch? Ive tried so many settings changes im about to give up on this. Shouldnt this work by default? Tried .iso and .rvz files and it does the same dam thing: black screen or SUPER sluggish to open
There's definitely a fair delay booting into GC games. Are you running them from a flash drive or the internal SSD?
@@HalfCircleForward I ended up just completely reinstalling Retroarch and it works fine. Its bittersweet having this for retail. I LOVE that I have it, but its sorta the black sheep when trying to get support for it. PCSX2 is the bigger issue at the moment with certain games just unplayable.

i have this exact problem on my series x currently, i can't run gc or wii games, it will instantly dashboard them, any help?
@@doowooplayz8938 Few things to try: check all the Online updater areas to make sure the items are installed. Also under Core System File Update you use the Dolphin Zip. If that still doesnt work, just reinstall it as that seemed to work for me, lol. Good luck

The setup to get the files over to your system is a little different for retail mode (which I’ve not really dug into), but it should work. The performance will likely not be as good on the One as opposed to the Series though, obviously. Hope that helps!

Why does it say failed to open libretro core???
More than likely something's not right with the dolphin-emu folder, I'd try re-downloading that first.
had the same happen to me...spent 2 days uninstalling everything and installing back again...load a game keeps saying failed to open liberto core....might just give up

Guys I've done a mistake.
I've somehow managed to change the renderer from hardware to software,in retroarch dolphin in error.
Now no gamecube game will boot up at all which means I cannot access the quick menu(which only becomes available once the game has launched)to change the renderer from software back to hardware,which it was at originally.
Can I change the renderer settings anywhere before I try and launch a game?
Any suggestions apart from reinstalling again and hoping it changes back to the the original hardware renderer settings?
Maybe something in retroarch settings that I can change or maybe even the system or save state?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s a great question and something I’ll try to look into today. Off the top of my head, I’m wondering if I can find the settings file an modify it, or even delete it so all you’ll need to do is do your basic setup and not have to reinstall everything. I’ll see what I can come up with..

I don’t see why you couldn’t do it if you’re on a Windows tablet, as long as it’s connected to the same network as the Xbox.
Can you do this on a iPhone?

The sticking point, and something I have to look into is if you can get around the Developer Mode sign-up requirement to have a Windows PC. A few folks have asked the question, so I’m going to try to put some time aside to research it.
