10% for EWS category is for economically weaker sections in general category whereas 50% is for SC, ST, OBC so this 10% has nothing to do with 50%. It is not included in 50%.

Reservation in educational institutions for Sc' and st's was provided by 93rd constitutional amendment Act 2005 under article 15(5) of indian Constitution
It was in 1951 by the Virtue of 1st Constitutional Amendment Act, 1951 which amended the article 15(4) and 16(4) to enable the state and central government to reserve the seats for SC and ST in the government jobs and educational institutions.
No ist ammendment act talks about genral advancement of socially and educationally backward classes. It's actally 93rd ammendment act which catagorically talks about reservation in educational institutions.

Sup.court declared the law to be void as it discriminates on the ground of caste etc and it's voilation of Art.15 . . Here backward includes sc and st . And other backward classes also, in both the clause 15(4 & 5)For sc and st there is a reservation since the commencement of constitution but obc had given recognition only after mandal commission .

not really - private jobs are free of reservations and will likely stay that way for some time ... or migrate to places like uttrakhand where UC's have high population and will keep a tab on limit of reservations. plus government jobs are less than 1% of all the jobs in the country - it doesn't make any difference - even for the sc st obc's if they get all the seats - why ? because if for the past 70 yrs nothing has changed - it'll not change in the coming years , the creamy layer of sc st will keep getting benefits , rest will be deprived. reservations are just political gimmicks.

Reservation is only for name !! In reality there's only 1 or 2% beneficiary who aware of schemes. Lot of funds coming for various schemes in the name of these & all going to trap !!
EWS reservation is out of that 50% which is for general candidate.. If you leave your OBC quota and you are poor enough in front of govt. Then you can also get EWS reservation. It is for everyone who is poor. And is not enjoying any reservation.

@@Viraj_2305 i don't believe that's a utopian idea of providing reservation on the basis of economic condition of the citizens as we are already doing so ( EWS - 10%) we only need to identify the loopholes in the EWS portion, the criteria is set for 8 lakh per annum which covers a good amount of population! Apart from that census taken based on caste and creed itself provides for caste based distinction and the benefits of reservation often don't even reach the needy. So the correct way of implementation of reservation is actually economic based census and provisions that matches the socio- economic conditions.

Reservation right now is like a painkiller tablet which is just numbing the pain and not doing much for the disease. See my intension is not to hurt anyone thinking but my opinion is that if we talk about equality and all thing then why caste based census ? If the gov. Reservation in educational institutions for Sc' and st's was provided by 93rd constitutional amendment Act 2005 under article 15(5) of indian Constitution

Sup.court declared the law to be void as it discriminates on the ground of caste etc and it's voilation of Art.15 . . Here backward includes sc and st . And other backward classes also, in both the clause 15(4 & 5)For sc and st there is a reservation since the commencement of constitution but obc had given recognition only after mandal commission .

You should study history of indian and polity, may be that will change your mind. Yeah the reservation system should change with time, for example shey should also add economical status of the reservation holder as a criteria for issuing the certificate.

Shahu Maharaj was the first to implement caste-based reservation in the modern era of India. He declared 50% reservations from which only four castes were excluded: 1) Brahmin 2) Shenvi 3) Prabhu and 4) Parsi. All other castes except these were declared as constituting the Bahujan Samaj.

@@Viraj_2305 i don't believe that's a utopian idea of providing reservation on the basis of economic condition of the citizens as we are already doing so ( EWS - 10%) we only need to identify the loopholes in the EWS portion, the criteria is set for 8 lakh per annum which covers a good amount of population! Apart from that census taken based on caste and creed itself provides for caste based distinction and the benefits of reservation often don't even reach the needy. So the correct way of implementation of reservation is actually economic based census and provisions that matches the socio- economic conditions.

@@Viraj_2305 yes i know that reservation is not a poverty alleviation programme, still does not justifies it efficiency after years of its implementation i believe now we can look forward for better methods to mainstreaming the downtrodden rather than just affecting the administrative efficiency. And why economic reservation should be provided is because they actually need the reservation to catch up into mainstream . Reservation right now is like a painkiller tablet which is just numbing the pain and not doing much for the disease. Reservation was very good policy when it was implemented but in current scenario it's a stagnant policy with very less relevance. And for the part where we want all sections to be equally representative ... we need this in parliament and legislative bodies so that they can be representative in policy formulation and not in jobs and colleges ! Apart from that i still don't understand if a we want a society based on no differences why are we providing reservation on that basis only? Rather find better methods? Haina?

Instead of reservation, make education and medical free for economical weaker sections. Jobs should be merit based. This 10% for EWS is for general category and not included in this 50% ceiling. 50% ceiling is only for SC's, ST's and oBC's (non- creamy layer)

@CEO of Secularism that is how system works right ? If every seat will be reserved what will be the merit ? If you analyse in previous year job allotment most from obc background got selected from unreserved category !! What do you want general people should not get job or you don't want to study ?

If it is unreserved it has right of everyone to compete you are unable to get anything from reserved category itself that is why you are moaning !! If not then work hard get a seat of unreserved and your reserved seat will be given to your community people !!!

First of all, why the reservation??, Second why subsidies??.
These two things killed India's progress, India was a skilled, righteous and duty bound citizens who never ever begged or demanded for their basic rights and authority.
Handful of British to rule these large number of subjects wanted sympathizers, followers, slaves, stooges in to their side, so the reservation devil came onto the picture.
Due to these two draconian law, all learned,educated, professional are drained out and settled abroad and doing miracle over there.
Instead of this, try to encourage the uneducated to do education, while giving that try to give them the knowledge of current affairs, technological advances etc.
All tribes were skilled in an PERTICULAR way, caste is not even herd in india till 18th century.
Anyway when last benchers,useless fellows start these rules and regulations one cannot do anything.

Ooh shut up plzz ,,subsides are important for the poor farmers and people who are really i. Need . But we have to stop the loopholes which are perform in name of subsides .
