4:58 is such a good illustration of this. It’s a tricky part of the song, Gerald overshoots his own note in a calculated moment of chaos (my favorite moment of the song). Even Gerald has trouble recreating this his life shows. Alex nails the intensity and key here perfectly, I think I like it more than the original.
I think its more an issue of mixing, the guitars and drums sound really flat like theres no punch to them. They sound like theyre behind the vocals rather than sharing the space with the vocals but im listening on mobile with a Bluetooth speaker so maybe im not hearing the fullness of the sound??? Idk
There was a point in time where I'd constantly be surprised at how good the stuff was that Alex would put out. He's been so fucking consistent that it's never a surprise anymore when it's an instant banger. It's just expected now.

A local band from where I’m from actually had a pretty good cover of this song. They’re called Chasing Safety, they actually did pretty well for themselves, had a few albums out and toured the country a bit!

As legitimate a concern as this may be, we can all agree that the level of mild discomfiture experienced by my guests would be more than outweighed by my pleasure at enjoying it, and knowing someone else out there does too. Third listen: 3:05 those drums were so right, just all of it was so good.
I haven’t watched any of the other videos to follow the storyline but what is happening here? Is death inevitable playing Helena at the show as a cover song or are they supposed to be the band who wrote Helena in the universe of this story?
