It’s a confessional thru his way of doing it- most don’t speak at all to millions and give an option to be judged, as easy as it is to judge an addict who loses every lucky break he got
@Jay P. I've seen much of his stand up and interviews, the common thread. Is mostly deep self loaving which stems from his low self-esteem. I think it stems from growing up seeing that he didn't. Look like the guy on the movie screen. Or the cool kids, someone forgot to tell him that being the good looking guy. Isn't everything there is and in the long run. Substance is much better than form, I understand how he feels although. I never turned to drugs or alcohol, I learned self improvement and I found God. This is where Artie needs to truly turn.
Could you imagine that you’re driving a cab in NYC after quitting a great job as a longshoreman at the Newark Port then fucking BOOM Quincy Jones plucks you from obscurity and you’re on National TV every week.
Then your cocaine habits take over, get you fired from the show and you return to the old cab job. Following that, BOOM Norm MacDonald wants you to be apart of a new movie, you befriend him, you two then get to meet the most well known radio host in the country, join his show, stay on there for 8 years until your coke habit comes back to haunt you again.
I'm an Artie fan, love watching things with Artie, he genuinely makes me laugh. We all have demons, heroin is so hard to kick for good. I just hope he finds happiness before he leaves this world.
Artie "No Nose" Lange. He's such a great entertainer, hope he gets clean soon. The fact that he survived the MAD TV years and is still alive is nothing short of amazing.
Ahuge cry for help yet folks only laughed. That's cold as can be. ARTIE you have fans that still care for you and wish you the best. Some of us even feel the pain your talking about, it sucks nothing seems to help. I wish you the best and hope to meet you one day.
Say what you will, but he called his own shots his whole life. I'm not saying it's cool or glamorous but he won the lottery and has just done whatever he wants. He's living the fantasy that most people have pondered.
You think Artie's life is a fantasy? To whom? What he said in this sketch is kinda true. As humble and a good hearted guy he is, he can never escape the horrors of his life and he is constantly miserable. Why has he tried suicide so many times? His life is so difficult, staying alive and sober is a huge struggle for him. Maybe these days, he has learned to live happier. But Artie is another bender away from another hospital visit. I don't think that's the lottery or most people want that.
I didn't say "I think Artie's life is a fantasy" I said "He's living the fantasy that most people have pondered" That fantasy is being a down and out blue collar worker who strikes gold, is loved by the masses, gets free reign to work where and when he wants all while sailing on a rainbow stew of stimulants and sleeping with beautiful women. If you don't think that's most peoples fantasy then I refer you to the cult following of Hefner, Stern, Kinison, Jeter, Rolling Stones.... need I go on?
In a practical world Artie could of lived comfortably in 1995 during MADTV years, let alone what he was making at Stern at Sirius! Artie said he made $15 G's per episode, and we know Artie lies, so lets say he made $10 G's per episode, in 1995 that was about $20 G's in purchasing power with inflation. Average rent in 1995 LA was about $575 a month, but let's bump it up some, let's say Artie's rent was $650 a month, $125 per week for groceries, $30 per week cigarettes. $50 week for gas, social spending let's be conservative $50 night on drinks, food. That's $455 a week, $455 x 4 weeks is $1820 a month. So combined rent and expenditures that's $7930 total a month, well under the pay he was bringing in, the coke was the crushing blow to Artie's living. Now, fast forward to Stern days, Sirius Stern days, he was making MAJOR BANK and doing gigs for 20 gs a pop. Artie was set, he just flamed out, he was only doing Stern 3 days a week, if he cut back on his gigs, he probably could of weathered the storm, but the drugs overtook him. The coke and heroin destroy lives, alcohol does too but it's not so much a financial burden compared to them, if Artie stuck to social drinking and weed, he'd be one of the greats and still going, IMO is still one of the greats but you get it..
nate thevillain he’s fine now wtf yu mean. This was not a call for help. This was utilizing his comedic prowess to speak about using drugs. Drugs can b fun
Artie is the only living example of what happens when you don't die from a tragic drug overdose. Jimmy Hendrix look at Artie. That guy from The Wire look at Artie. It's not tragic it's going out on top.
Wtf is this? So, ofcourse the whole cast and crew knew he was an addict from day one? On the stern show he makes it seem like no one knew his problems, he held it together until the last month or week, THEN everyone knew. Weird.
This is Arties first cry for help with a laugh track.
This is a confessional disguised as humor.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I read your comment, so true! A painful truth disguised with laughter!
@@tammyrogne1471 Most definitely. That's the material of the best comedians.

That’s why it’s funny
this will be used for whatever documentary they decide to make about Artie's tragic life
Evan's Gate there won’t be a documentary sadly. Just compilation videos.
Evan's Gate like the R KELLY doc. I’m watching now
Lol
Somehow, he’s still alive
200% they’ll set the trailer’s beats to a voice over cut from this.
Artie is still alive. Goes to show you can do anything when you just try.
Especially quitting heroin coke & alcohol!!!
@@actownsend7288 he only did that after his nose exploded!
Still funny as well.
"on the nose"
Not for Artie much longer
And at 50 years old Artie has come full circle
He is definitely not a scumbag, Artie is one of my favorite comedians. Artie you have a bright future, just stay sober buddy.
It's funny because Artie is talking his real life.
@Jay P. Yes but he still hates himself!
@Jay P. I've seen much of his stand up and interviews, the common thread. Is mostly deep self loaving which stems from his low self-esteem. I think it stems from growing up seeing that he didn't. What a dork.

This authentically makes me sad

This is too much truth cloaked within comedy.
all comedy is bro.
@@BradyIsAfagInHeat Not all comedy is. Much of it is. This is a little more on the nose than usual don't you think?
Madtv was my childhood. Never knew what truly went on behind the scenes. After reading Artie’s book, my childhood was ruined
He was amazing as white mama . Definitely a worthy comedic actor
As a Stern Fan and Artie Fan, this is so trippy to watch in 2018.... 😞

Both sad and hilarious at the same time.
If Norm’s book tells the truth, this was the sketch that originally inspired him to hire Artie for Dirty Work
“I play a scumbag on TV, and I’m a scumbag in real life” 😂
2 of Artie's finest minutes

John Belushi reincarnated
But mean like Belushi's brother. Funny as Hell, though.

High is the word when talking about Artie.
So does he
Remember the roast where Betty white said she would oulive Artie? that may actually happen, she just turned 97 and I heard he's very near death.
He probably did that shit after his run on the 1st season of Mad tv
