There are many ways I love your channel, but your walk about in your garden through out the seasons is one of the best, hope you realize what a benefit it is to see plants in all stages, thanks to you and Stuart for forging out in the cold, rain and hot sun to help us gardeners out❤️🥂
Yes I agree remember your steps that we so adore your new ones look great to. Covering the brick with lattice and plants will make it softer the bricks very blunt. You have a great eye for beauty Linda you create it so well love Richi everything looks lovely
Cold but sun out, looks like a perfect winter day. Hope your pipes have defrosted. 😊 Keep warm hunny 👯 bunny. Love to all from Rosie O from a frosty Devon, England 🏴 ❤ x
I watch every post you have and learn so much from you. I hope you're feeling better. You do too much and you need to take care if your health. We need you. ❤
My fashion comment: Love the coat it sets off your hair. One of my sisters always makes a fashion statement by wearing pastel winter coats. Pale pink or white usually. When I go shopping I like to get out of my funk by saying to myself, "What would Betty wear?". On the plant front I am glad that you have a type of holly. Bluebirds and Robins love them in winter. In southern NJ I had both types on my hollies recently. Despite the erratic weather with these extremely cold temps the birds seem less likely to migrate any more.
Thanks, Linda and Stewart, I really enjoyed your wintry walkabout! ❄️ Hope you’re now keeping cosy inside! 🙂 It’s icy cold here too in central Scotland, with lots of snow further north. ⛄️🏴
You and Stewart were very brave to stay out in that wind for as long as you did😀. I absolutely loved your outfit of the day. It looked so very warm and cozy. I can’t wait to see all of the tulips when they are in full bloom 😀 which will also mean springtime 🌸
Loved it Linda, so much optimism, you are one intrepid soul. Thankyou for braving that cold to show us all how plants well selected will endure and prosper. 🥰👏
Seasonal gardening is a challenge but the rewards can be wonderful. Funny how to me a chilly 50f day in November can feel like heaven in March in my zone (5 ish) area (Ontario, Canada). The architecture of your house, the hardscape and bones you’ve added carry you through the winter nicely. Keep on trooping!
Please, please when the time comes to trim all those plants you will do a video or 5, on how you are trimming the different plants. Also THANK YOU so much for braving that cold for our benefits! Love you and Stewart. Now go back in and get warm!!!
It has been in single digits in Memphis with six inches of snow and no snow plows. The wind is the enemy. We are having freezing rain tomorrow.. Fun fun--the forecast is for more really cold and windy all winter. Good winter to clean up basements, organize photos and do some indoor art projects. Just praying the pipes don't break
Hi Linda! Thank you for all the plant protection advice today and for weathering the cold with Stewart! So, so so looking fwd to seeing your garden bloom this Spring!!! Blessings to you. Charlotte, from very cold and snow covered Michigan. ⛸⛄❄
I’m searching for the gardener that you tagged one time, the English lady. I love watching her although she doesn’t post many videos. I’m wondering about her winter garden in England 🏴 😍
Love the Appletini house! I have it saved and rewatch from time to time. Love the tone on tone lush green. I do always note his garden is mature plants. Makes a big difference.
Here in Mn. In the fall, we use sheets to cover lite frost. It looks a bit like a Chinese laundry but, it really help, and we found plastic of any kind, still gets damage to the plants.
I can't wait for Spring. Counting the days the way kids count for Christmas or vacation. Planning & reading on gardening meanwhile. It's almost as windy as here as there in west pa.🌬 I get a bit scared since we got 3 trees fall last year. One almost hit my house. I will always be thankful to the other trees for holding it back. I Always forget how really freezing it gets until it gets on single digits.🥶
(40 degrees sounds warm to me) :D We are at 16 degrees today on Thursday. But it actually seems warm & feels liveable when go outside compared to the 40 t0 50 windchills we have gotten this month. But thankful to God for a warm home.
Freezing where I live. Hwy 2 in Washington. My tall pine trees around my house with thick ice. Sagging. My driveway is steep. So I haven’t gone anywhere in 2 weeks. Snow then Icy rain for the last few days with occasionally snow.
Central Florida zone nine and I’m freezing! However, last night and this morning temps only went down to 38 here. Have been 59 to 62. lots of cold, rain, and some wind for the last few days. A little sunshine today.
Yay! The Appletini Door garden. I've watched it twice and I'll watch it again. I just love it. Btw, don't worry about your Magnolia Stellata. I have one and the buds are covered in little fur coats and they are insanely old plants (remember they are pollinated by beetles because they developed before bees) They must have endured some pretty cold weather in years past. We went down to -12C (-10F) this year which is very unusual. In fact I can't remember it ever happening before here (Vancouver,Canada). Mind you, my memory isn't what it was! We have a foot of snow but the inevitable rain is on it's way, which the plants need desperately. Stay warm guys!🔥
I'm in Moore OK and I have also been chilled to the bone! haha! THANK YOU for sharing this walk about! I also have a lot of first year plants at my home and have been so nervous about loosing them. You sound a bit confident which helps me feel better. I can't wait for SPRING!!! Look forward to seeing what survived and if you lost any what you plan to do. I am going through this journey with you Linda. :-) Love your OK gardening channel!
I have magnolia, has buds all over, Roses has blooms on it, all my lilies are so tall, so this year is a big garden lessons and garden tests, which plant pass, which plant fail. I will journal All the garden life❤
I have frost cloth over several containers and planters. I’ll wait to take it all off until we are above freezing at night. We didn’t get as cold as you did. I was shivering in sympathy as you stood in that biting wind
I live in Sweden on an island with very mild climate for being Sweden. I used to live in northern parts with -35 to -40 Celsius (-40F) and 3-4 feet of snow. Here on Gotland we have had down to -15 one night but we also got 1 feet of snow so I haven’t covered more than a few plants bc everything is under snow. I took even more snow and covered some plants completely.
Thanks for the Walkabout! I love the way the backyard looks! I love the shelving full of terra cotta pots! I think you’ve done a great job, front and back! 😎🇨🇦
Oh Linda Thank you for the walk about. We have snow in the ground here in Annapolis Md an expecting more on Friday. Like you, I cann't wait to get out there and start cleaning up a bit. Cheers to you and Stuart
We have not had such cold temperatures here in Western Massachusetts, the lowest will be this coming, Sunday at 10 degrees Fahrenheit overnight , days have been in 20s and 30s , plenty cold for me , stay safe my friends
❤ thx for lifting my winter blues by seeing you both out in the beautiful sunshine and your lovely cottage garden. It was 16 degrees here this morning in Thomaston GA USA
I too love Harold's Finishing Touches ... I follow him on Facebook.. I'm not on Instagram yet. His garden is absolutely breathtaking taking... I just bought those covers for the plants from Amazon... I want to put some boxwood in planters this, but am concerned about how they would do in the winter. But you addressed some of that today. I'm in Missouri below zero here ..Thanks for braving the blistering cold for us 🥰
Thanks for sharing your cottage . Will be good to get out in garden soon and get some fresh air SND smell the flowers my favourite part. I like plants that have a scent lavender roses Russian sage daffodils hyacinths. Spring time going to nursery she owes me a butterfly magnolia check that out the flower is so beautiful and smells Devine.
I live close to your sister in NC and our weather here is very cold and there is snow on the mountains near by. Can’t wait to see spring which usually starts to arrive around the first of March with my daffodils. I have Loved watching this year your new garden grow and mature.
Linda you are too hard on yourself. You have been telling us the railling is ordered. You can't make it happen any faster. Your backyard looks wonderful with all you have done in the short time you lived in this new home. I live in the low AZ desert and we are happy growing all of our cold season veggies. We hide in our air conditioned homes in the summer here where we get high heat days for months at a time. 117 and higher happen too often for us here!
I love the idea of hardscaping the potting area. I think that will make that area a more useable space. planting those small areas would be difficult. I also think a trellis on the garage wall or walls would look nice. Thankful that so many plants made it through the cold. Our lowest so far in SC was 17.
It was 9 degrees here in North Georgia yesterday with a few snow flurries. No accumulation but it was pretty to be inside and watch. It got up to 27 degrees today.
We had a low of 12 degrees in DC today and 3-5 inches of snow. As far as I can tell most things survived and there were some real surprises. Hope the snow is insulating. We, too, had a warm spell, followed by rain and plummeting temps.
we broke the record in Little Rock! 1° last night and today we got up to 40°... of course we are expecting rain kind of misty stuff they said and then it will freeze again... so today we are having a little bit of a break before we get another round of freeze. Oh by the way there’s about 2 inches of snow on the ground... A little bit of it melted but not much.... y’all stay warm now!
As I watch this it is 17F outside(zone5) and the wind is blowing. I only wish I could see my garden but it is under mounds of snow. The snow is covering my 2 dozen new boxwoods and I am hoping they will be insulated from the cold and wind. But inside I have 26 narcissis bulbs coming up in pots on my windowsills with another 26 in pots that will come in from the garage and enjoy the sunshine in a couple weeks. I purchased pots from the thrift store and I am going to give them away for some winter joy to my neighbors. Enjoyed your presentation.
Here in west Michigan I have almost 2 feet of snow insulating my plants. We are still 10 inch behind for this time of year. Got down to -2 a couple days ago.
Zone 8-And WHY are you outside risking life and limb!? I too am curious as to how my plant kids are fairing but it’s just too cold!🥶 besides, everything is under freeze cloths!
Love your pretty jacket! Whole color palette looks great with your hair! Do check the pleat in the back as it looks like the basting stitch the manufacturer uses in shipping hasn’t been snipped yet.
Iam going to try boxwood Topiaries this spring, Iam so excited !, I just love your style Linda, I look so forward to watching your videos in the evening with my beverage of choice and my notebook!!
Not as cold here in Lynchburg, VA, but still pretty freakin’ cold. High of 30 today. We got about 2 or 3 inches of snow on Monday. That was pretty while it was falling. But I want Spring! Worried about my plants.
Don't know if you like the white jasmine. It stayed green an when they bloom the garden smells wonderful . It is lovely on a trellis. Sweet olive is wonderful in the winter. The blooms also smell lovely.

We are frozen over here in Virginia, got down to 6 degrees early this morning, and the high was 29, brrr....12 tonight. We received about six inches of snow, so that is insulating some plants. We will warm back up into the 40's and 50's next week, can't wait. The boots you wore in the video, so very cool, can you share link if possible? Spring is coming, days are getting longer...I am winter sowing, and planning the vegetable garden.
You looked so pretty today, Linda. The color of your sweater and jacket just made you glow. What is the lipstick shade you had on? Durham,NC 16 degrees last night and 31 degrees today.
Thank you for being such intrepid gardeners and this winter weather! Could you please post a link for the large faux terra-cotta pots you used over top of some of your plants? I’m zone 6 and always on the lookout for pots that can stay outside all year round. Thank you!
Dear Linda, we have below zero temperatures here in Michigan for several days with snow. We never cover our evergreens and boxwoods and have beautiful winter interest. We had a lot of snow thunder, lighting and snow/ sleet/rain. I ordered your suggested shrubs from Amazon. Will they die? Why do you have to cover shrubs in 40 degree weather? What is the deciding factor for covering plants?

I like the idea of more bricks in back, I was thinking that a while back,, looks like every thing is doing good.
Oh it looks cold . You need a hot irish coffee (wee bit of whiskey and cream )
I’m loving all the sunshine Linda. We live in Tennessee and we got snow plus lots of ice. I’m so ready for spring.

11 degrees here in maryland this morning

I only use plastic around the pots… Not over the surface of the plants in front. You are right, that would cause a greenhouse effect.
Your poor garden😢. It was so beautiful in spring..we don't have harsh winters here in Melbourne Au..
-4 today, lots of snow, over 24”. No gardening for me. Sprig is coming.
Notsutchamutch is my new saying ❤
The front yard looks kinda dry, especially with that wind. Should one water in the winter?? Or will it be harmful?
