It is a Bearded Brad or Sassquatch that just walked out of the Dunes. Ive heard he lives in the woods mostly but the Dunes have a lot of cover for "Bearded Brad " also.
I never ate croaker or whiting until watching one of your catch and cooks last year. After a slow few days throwing artificials, we went and picked up some fishbites and tied up some pompano rigs. Within a few minutes, we had several whiting and a few croaker as well. We did Zatarain's fried fish sandwiches for the group we were with and it was incredible!!
The biggest croakers that I have ever caught were off the little fishing pier by the pass on Little Lagoon. The water was beautiful there New Years day. People were catching Flounder, Black Drum, Puffer Fish, etc. when I there.
Save a Pompano, eat a croaker! That might make a good Bum T shirt. Haha. They are pretty good, curly fried with some tartar sauce like another commenter said. Nice vid. Simple, all fishing and cleaning and eating and time spent with family, good memories my man. Happy and healthy 2022!!
DOUBLE UP!! No matter how cold it may be...if fish are biting...its worth the catch!! I remember fishing for Strippers in 35 degrees at night...in Santee Cooper Lakes! If they are biting...Cold makes no difference! Hope the Croakers were delicious!!
Happy New Year Bum! Been following you for a couple of years now and I gotta say your videos are getting better and better. Loved the shout out from Dayton, Ohio and seeing you support Bearded Brad.
just love how you do what you do,, you do not overfish -- get want you want and done ---- the family is so so important to you and you do not use them to sell it -- does not need it but hell they are an extra special layer of special -- makes one feel included but not in an intrusive way --normal thank you lots and happy Christmas/new year to you and all
My grandfather was a commercial fisherman and when he got older and could no longer fish he would ask me to just bring him a Croaker… They really are good if you can catch them large enough! Thanks for enduring the cold to bring us this video! BTW, your family is so delightful!
I watch your Gulf Shores videos because I grew up fishing the beach , the pass , the pier , and the point. It’s not the same for me when you go to other areas and fish but I definitely get it . As you gain more subs and expand to other areas and fishing styles - it’s important to never forget your roots. That sentiment will become even more important as you get older. I’m not saying you have forgotten them it’s just something to be cognoscente of as you march through your life’s journey………keep the vids coming ! ✌🏼
Good to see you using the Bearded Brad rigs Matt. I love the way you guys support each other. Keep up the great work and thank you for giving us all some awesome content. I’d love to know how those Croakers taste! Peace and love from the UK bro!
Atlantic croaker is the only saltwater fish I have ever caught. I took my daughter fishing on Apache Pier in Myrtle Beach last year. Tons of fun! Thanks for the video.
Moved away from the beach going on 10 years ago and miss it everyday. Since subscribing to you, bearded brad, cameraman Ron, and Brant I've been looking at properties out in Alabama and Florida so I can get back to surf fishing
Just gotta say I've been following you over a year now and I still look forward to your next video... your content inspired me to get some equipment and try making some content myself the excitement I see in you when you catch some good ones and your overall attitude on cam is awesome... and hey man you stay bummy 😎😁
Croaker is the most underrated fish to eat. As a kid growing up along the South Texas Gulf Coast, my family used to eat it all the time. Great video! Happy New Year!
Great to see the double up. Watching you from Wis. Been on the Mississippi River frozen back waters catching jumbo perch. I can’t wait to get back down to FL. For some surf fishing. Enjoy your videos, they me out of my COVID funk
Met you on the creek today at my dock, hope you got some good footage! Maybe I’ll get the neighbors to put new underwater lights in. Cooking up the sheepshead tomorrow!!!!
My kind of fishing. I love watching your videos. Especially when you are by yourself. It's like you are more involved with your viewers. You make me feel like I am there fishing with you. Keep up the great videos 👍
I remember being a little kid trying my hardest at surf fishing but being terrible at it. I would luck into a croaker or whiting from time to time. These vids are making our youths lives better. Keep it up!
Happy New Years Triple B. Been following you for a couple of years now and learned a few new tricks since I grew up and love inshore/Beach fishing. Keep up with the great content and you stay bumpy. God bless you and and your family
Your lil daughter is so cute hamming it up in the shot! Great fishing vid, and cook it up. Nothing fancy just good fish Sammy's mmmm. Happy New Year Bummy's
Hey Matt loved the video. I've been watching you, Brant and CMR for a while now really enjoy the content. I live on the eastern shore of Maryland and have been fishing northern snake head for a couple of years now. I think if you guys get the opportunity you would absolutely love it and the eating doesn't get much better.
Looks delicious! I love how you do a little bit of cooking in your videos. You make me want to keep more of the fish that I catch. And I just realized I need a new fillet knife because yours sliced through that fish so effortlessly. A Bubba blade dedicated for that would be pretty nice
New subscriber, just gotta say I enjoy your videos and look forward to new ones. This one particularly made me want that sandwich lol. Can’t wait to head south for vacation
Great video! Nothing like fresh fish sandwiches. As a little kid, my brother and I would get into a school of croakers. Seems if you catch one, you'll catch 10. We would filet & fry them up crispy. A bunch of crispy, curly fried croaker with lemon and tarter sauce can't be beat! Ok. It can. But thanks for bringing back some childhood memories. It's been over 30 years since I had croaker. Now I'm into Mangrove snapper for a fish fry. Keep up the great content. New Year's blessing to you, your family & the Clickbaiters!
Wow , those were nice Croaker ! The double up was great ! . They are a very tasty fish . Nice going Matt . Tom Daytona Beach , FL . 17 , January 2022 .
I use to catch those croaker off Jensen beach and catch 30# snook on them . I love this cold weather and minus tides I have been slaying the red fish and trout !
One of my favorite childhood fishes! Caught and ate tons of them. And really fun to catch especially when they're nice ones like you caught Matt. And yep, great bait too
have you ever caught a Steelhead? be thankful you don't live in Washington state you'd freeze. thanks for the video I feel warmer watching you in the south. stay safe. I can't wait to watch you go fishing with your lettuce cleaner. happy new year
For Courtney (not sure if its spelled correctly) when slicing tomatoes that las little bit you can lay the tomatoe flat side down and slice sideways as you hold the tomatoe down with your free hand. Just a helpful tip 🙂
There is no way I’d be on the beach fishing at the NC coast in January. I mean - it snowed yesterday. It was 78 on Sunday and early Monday morning it was snowing. This winter weather is FREAKY!!!!! I’ve been just searching for more vintage reels for my vintage surf spinning reel collection. (I have over 220 now). Fishing on the beach is out of the question. I’ve literally caught hundreds of Croakers in my life. I’m not particularly fond of them because it’s so hard to avoid the bones. Happy New Year Matt and family!
When you boys come back to Florida, those are absolutely big snook candy. Generally you can find them in the first trough right next to the beach or right at the beginning of the first bar.
Great job! When I was a kid we lived on a salt water bio in Texas and we caught croaker all of the time! Every once and while we would catch a bigger Kroger and it would have a black dot by its tail!😂🤣😂🤣 we just thought they were croaker‘s with a black dot! Love watching your show here from central Texas!
You're a brave man taking on 40 degree weather and at the beach at that, but nonetheless, awesome video bro! I love me some croakers, used to catch a butt load of them around the Jacksonville area. My pb was around 18" and man they can be a blast on light tackle, but they're even better deep fried and stacked between two slices of bread lol!😁👍🏾👍🏾
Love your content and the education you bring to your viewers you are the reason I will be doing some beach fishing this summer I live 30 minutes or so from the Pier in Ft. Walton where you have fished in earlier videos I haven’t got to fish yet but it’s coming keep the great content coming 😁
Gonna have to try croaker one of these days, first I've gotta catch a big enough one to eat though! All I've ever caught are little bait-sized ones! Good video bud!
If there are croakers at the beach there might be something bigger around to chase them. I know they're killer snook bait farther south but lots of fish eat them. Maybe you should try the smaller ones for bait. Happy new year, you're starting out right!
It is a Bearded Brad or Sassquatch that just walked out of the Dunes. Ive heard he lives in the woods mostly but the Dunes have a lot of cover for "Bearded Brad " also.

I love my croakers. I’ve never caught a whiting though
I’m going to the beach tomorrow and using the same setup, caught a couple whiting about a month ago with some squid
The biggest croakers that I have ever caught were off the little fishing pier by the pass on Little Lagoon. The water was beautiful there New Years day. People were catching Flounder, Black Drum, Puffer Fish, etc. when I there.

Awesome session Matt. Wanted to tell you, your editing has gotten so good in the past couple years. Keep it up
My grandfather was a commercial fisherman and when he got older and could no longer fish he would ask me to just bring him a Croaker… They really are good if you can catch them large enough! Thanks for enduring the cold to bring us this video! BTW, your family is so delightful!
We used to catch them by the cooler full when I was younger. Taste great

Good to see you using the Bearded Brad rigs Matt. I love the way you guys support each other. Keep up the great work and thank you for giving us all some awesome content. I’d love to know how those Croakers taste! Peace and love from the UK bro!
Now, what is the Bearded Brad rig, made up like?
Atlantic croaker is the only saltwater fish I have ever caught. I took my daughter fishing on Apache Pier in Myrtle Beach last year. Tons of fun! Thanks for the video.
Lil squirt is growing up so fast! Seems like yesterday we were getting thumbs up with the index finger. Lunch looks awesome!
That was great a doubleheader and looking at those delicious fish sandwiches I enjoyed this one
Nice man. You hit it right on the head with this one. Croaker is so underrated. Makes me miss the gulf
Moved away from the beach going on 10 years ago and miss it everyday.
Since subscribing to you, bearded brad, cameraman Ron, and Brant I've been looking at properties out in Alabama and Florida so I can get back to surf fishing
i love seeing the bites, your heart must miss a beat when the rod tip bangs over
Grew up catching and eating croaker and spot from the sounds and surf on the NC coast. Good stuff!
Love your fishing style man. Good eats too and a nice family! Have a blessed 2022!

That's one of my favorite spots. West side of the pass on the beach.. I always find a ton of sand fleas , right against the wall
I remember being a little kid trying my hardest at surf fishing but being terrible at it. I would luck into a croaker or whiting from time to time. These vids are making our youths lives better. Keep it up!
Croaker fishing looks like fun👍👍 may have to target the next time we are down there.

Happy New Years Triple B. Been following you for a couple of years now and learned a few new tricks since I grew up and love inshore/Beach fishing. Keep up with the great content and you stay bumpy. God bless you and and your family
It has been 18 years or so since I have had croker. It fried up real good then. I am kinda craving it now. Great video Matt!!
Always a great eating fish. When we skunk on larger fish on the bay, they are our goto backup dinner fish.
I’m from Dayton Ohio also, great video.
Your lil daughter is so cute hamming it up in the shot! Great fishing vid, and cook it up. Nothing fancy just good fish Sammy's mmmm. Happy New Year Bummy's
Us here in NC eat it all ! Usually we just scale it, cut the heads off, gut it out, roll it in batter and fry it up ! Especially SPOTS
Happy new year Bama Beach Bum,Great content as always, look forward to more.

Nice Croakers 👍. They’re a regular when fishing the Chesapeake bay in the summer 😁
Yum. Croaker is a sweet, mild tasting fish.
Best eating small species in my opinion. Great fighting fish too. Nice catch. Really like your videos.
That first one was huge. I catch them in The Corpus Christi area bays all the time but never in the surf like that. Awesome
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
We need a vid of the whole bama fam out there
You have a beautiful family. Love the catch and cook. Can't wait to get moved to Florida to do some of that myself.

I use croaker as cut bait here in tx. Catch them all the time
Having fried sheep sammiches for dinner tonight. Sharpen those knives .... Croaker is delicious, under rated just like whiting.
Love the video! Happy New Year!!! Croaker is a good fish....
This vid is sooo exciting! For some reason, the croakers barely ran this year. I’m in Virginia.
Making videos this time of year I’m finding to be quite the challenge. Great job man! I’ve never doubled up on croakers lol. Thanks for the content.
It can be tough. Gotta get creative and stretch yourself.
WOW! 40 degrees is pretty cold 🥶 for you guys STEVE from Boston MA😛
I caught Croaker from Fairhope Pier as a youth.
I can’t figure out if a croaker is better to eat or better as bait. What a fish!
Croaker aka Hardheads what we call them up in the northeast ! Love catching them especially 2 at a time
Brother we targeted croaker all summer and they were good. We caught a few black drum and reds along with them. Great video
MOJO'S citrus rub is one of my favorite seasonings for any kind of fish.
It sounds good. Where can you find it?
@@chrissewell1608 I found it at Safeway
I love Croaker. They taste great and fun to catch. That's the way to catch them. Seems like we caught some on Soft shelled sand fleas.
Happy New Year and looking forward to a great fishing 2022!
Croaker are a great tasting fish. Try using some House Autry seafood battering on them. It’s delicious. Happy new year to you and your family.
Great video Bama! Love the cheese, but I’m not sure if you used a sauce, but for me it needed at least a mayo if not tartar
I’ve kept several croakers and fried em for dinner and had what was left for breakfast the next morning. My middle boy likes to eat cold for breakfast
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.

Croaker is a extremely awesome fish fun to fight with light tackle and also very tasty
Lol my hands are numb, it’s 40 degrees😭😂😂😂😂😂😭🙌🏻good one bro
Gonna have to try croaker one of these days, first I've gotta catch a big enough one to eat though! All I've ever caught are little bait-sized ones! Good video bud!
Dang, bro, you smashed those croaker.
If there are croakers at the beach there might be something bigger around to chase them. I know they're killer snook bait farther south but lots of fish eat them. Maybe you should try the smaller ones for bait.
Happy new year, you're starting out right!
That very 1st spot looks like where you, and bearded caught those big trout in a previous video. I'm from dayton ohio as well.
Good job my man stay safe 🙏 👍
Those boogers have some sharp gill plates. 😆 They are fast and angry. Catch them all the time in Texas Gulf
U should also try a slice of raw onion on the sandwich kick it up a botch.
