      @@ZarelidT My guy, there are probably a dozen FPS techniques, mechanics, and tips I can name off the top of my head that shows just how intricate the genre is. The CSGO ESports scene is probably bigger than the entirety of the fighting game scene. If you genuinely think FPS isn't a skill based genre and fighting games are, you don't even understand what makes fighting games skill based (I mean the fact you said positioning is a 'small thing' and then proceeded to name fighting games just shows how little you know). The same principles that make fighting games skill based are the same set of principles that makes an FPS skill based.
      Your last sentence isn't even true. You know what small things are expressed in an "actual" skill based genre? Button mashing (aiming and getting lucky), spacing (positioning), and timing.
      Just like if I were to face a fighter gamer I would get rolled bc thats not my genre, I would win against you 100% of the time in FPS. That's bc there are simply tricks you simply cannot perform due to either skill difference or not enough experience.

    I recognise this because I used to play like this. Able to carry games, but also knowing they can, and getting anxious when it's not going their way. They kept running into the other team and trying to 1v5, because they believe they were the carry and they had to do it all. It's a mistrust of your team, mixed with the eagerness to try and make something happen at all points of the fight. Then because you've been trying so hard, your panic and anxiety of thinking you are better than everyone starts to play on your mind and crumble, and you make terrible decisions trying to force situations. Think that explains a lot of the blinders too, because they just see their objective, "kill a support" rather than the broader teamfight.
    I think a lot of Overwatch players could learn a lesson in trying to relax and do less. I've gone from Silver to high Diamond by just learning to slow down and trust your team a little.

I main Soldier and while I like to think I’m at least way better than I used to be I always have a little voice that calls me a basic bitch for playing him. But he’s what I have the most fun on so idc. Recently because I’m doing so well I want to keep doing better, keep it consistent. But literally like the last two days I’ve been like “Slow down, you’re rushing your way to nowhere. Stop it.” So it’s just good to see someone kind of confirm my thought process.

That's why people have such bad habits that they are kept hardstuck. They've spent hours playing other people who are just as dog at the game as they are, so they don't know any better. terrible choices don't get punished in low bronze, so any time they try to make the same choice against a better team it gets shut down. but then it works again the next time, so they're like "just gotta keep getting better at doing this move" instead of reassessing why it works when it works.

      I actually think supports in bronze through gold are doing more harm than good in long term player growth. Those ranks you're like an infant. You don't know anything. In your most formative and impressionable years, you're trying new things out and the expectation is that of a positive/negative feedback loop which will in turn improve your game over time.
      The problem is that the positive/negative feedback is polluted by "good" supports saving you and rewarding bad play.

    • @lobsterfork
      @lobsterfork Год назад +7

      @@NanoMp40 I agree with you, but your example is really bad in my opinion. I’d say that spot is is mediocre at best. It’s really easy to get picked off by multiple angles without a shield, but if your tank is baby sitting the team, the enemy walks the cart for free. The bridge will also block most of your angles unless you are a good dps, which is not the case in lower ranks. Within seconds, like 3, the cart will be at that point where the bridge block any good shots. Some games, I see teams just sit up there while the other team walks it for free. At some point, your team will need to jump down to contest or walk back and hold the choke, which then brings this awkward moment where half your team jumps and the other moves back. From my experience, I throw a sig shield up on the high ground, and I jump down and peak the corner/watch the right side flank. Or, I play ball and dance on the cart. Another issue is that your team gets really grouped in that spot, and it’s really easy for a biotic or a piledriver to get massive value.
      I honestly find that spot to be more of a trap than anything else. It’s better to have like an Anna and a dps up there than the whole team. The spot loses a lot of value without being contested.
      That being said, I completely agree that most people should not be moving past the bridge to contest unless they know what they are doing.

      @NanoMp40 Год назад

      @@lobsterfork I never said you have to group all the team in the bridge just because high ground exist, neither that you have to forget about contesting. But Junkertown is a tricky map, at the beginning is really easily to die by a pick or that if you choose the wrong high ground in can be really dificult to get support or run away unless you can climb or jump higher.
      As a tank is good if you want to fight on the floor and contest but it's better if you go back some meters and leave your supports room to be in the right side of the first bridge, that position has literally everyone in front of you and the enemy can't pick you from the spawn, you just need a tank that knows you aren't going to walk to their spawn. The biggest choke on that part is the bridge, even if the enemies can hide or try to flank, you can choose whetever to run away, hide, rotate, fall or look a the route from the spawn if you want to keep them from grouping. And if the whole team has bad positions and die on the first part then the enemy will pass that bridge like it's nothing.
      So I would not call it a trap, if somebody thinks too hard on keeping that position even when it isn't made for their hero that's on them, not the spot

    to be fair, leaving spawn instantly on a map that favors widowmaker can be stupid. Make her give away her position on your tank first. Instead of oneshotting your face cus you had to rush out of spawn.
    i do it often when i go high ground. So my enemy dont pre-aim me when i leave spawn.

      How would the player have known there was a widow? Even if they did know the widow was there from hearing the widow shoot before doors open, the widow clearly can't see them from that door. The only place the widow would be able to see from is the exposed high ground to the left, which the player can see has nobody standing on it. Them knowing the widow was on the other team at all is a large stretch though, as I haven't played with many bronze players that can tell what characters exist based purely on sound.
      Its nice to give people the benefit of the doubt, but not pointing out obviously bad plays is a disservice to the person who's being reviewed. Personally I would be upset if flats just gave my bad plays a pass because I might be doing something that I'm obviously not doing.
