    This will hopefully shed some light on the cheating situation -- For anyone curious why this hasn't been detected more easily... Warden (the name for the AC used in several Activision-blizzard games) and another unnamed system for determining player integrity using "AI" have been functionally crippled since at least Season 3. Attaching OW2 into a debugger verifies that it still hasn't been fixed and they are still shipping broken builds. I have since provided Blizzard detailed information on these discoveries and how to potentially fix it, all without access to the original source code. This has been met with silence on their end. Even when it was fully functional, cheat developers thought it was a joke; now they're just laughing. Right now, unless you are using a very old or very public cheat that matches a basic program hash blacklist, a AC-issued ban isn't at all likely. It's embarrassing at this point.

    • @Dimumouto
      @Dimumouto Год назад +76

      Blizzard isn't going to respond to you, especially concerning security matters. It's basic opsec; you're not within their employee network, so any outside email, especially any going to a SINGLE PERSON and not a company, is extremely unlikely, no matter how useful the information might be. Source: I work in the billing department of my company and any email not marked with the company email address is listed as suspicious. I usually mark them as phishing attempts. This is likely what happened to you. As well, email correspondence I see between my company and the companies we work with always notes if an email has been sent from an outside network. Any and all info is on a need to know basis, and you yourself do not need to know if the information you sent would be useful or not.
      And if cheat developers thought it was a joke before, you think they haven't made their programs better and being undetectable? They likely have no moral compass and do not care. Unless people are willing to give Blizzard deep access to their PCs processes, you're never going to be able to beat cheat developers.

    • @GummyDinosaursify
      @GummyDinosaursify Год назад +68

      It doesn't. As a previous commenter said, it's been broken since Season 3 and even before then, it was a joke. It now wholly relies on reports alone. I had a Widow on the enemy team yesterday who had 100% accuracy, 100% headshots. While it wasn't blatant, the snapping was pretty obvious once they got POTG and did a 360 headshot on three people in a row who were all on different points of the map within milliseconds of each other. Pretty sure my report will do nothing, but i'm still going to report anyway.

      As someone who used cheats when ow2 released for a few days just by curiosity I can promise you the anti cheat is trash. I was undetected with a cheap ass cheat (free tbh), that wasnt even that good. Quickly uninstalled it because it got boring and my natural aim was better anyway. Cheats just made it a bit more easy cos you literally dont have to focus at all. A lot of players are cheating, the anti cheat is basically non existant. My friend cheated with the same cheat and he never got a ban up to this day. Dont cheat, its boring and u ll have much more fun improving. If you ask why i cheated, i simply wanted to try it out once to experience what cheaters feel.

      @@zambsDGOW I'm aware of the arrow redirection visual bug, but I thought that it seemed a bit too extreme for it to be simply that.
      also, considering all other factors, I felt hitbox manipulation seemed rather likely, especially accounting for some personal experience with cheaters.

      but it's literally just a difference in latency. nothing else. all projectiles function this way. it's just easier to see with hanzo arrow because of the trail going straight to your head. shooter's advantage makes a difference, like when you get shot while behind a wall on your screen but still moving to cover on the enemy's screen

    Commented this under the short too: The anti-cheat can not detect cheating based on gameplay. Its not a person that can draw a line between normal flicks and tracking as supposed to those which an aimbot allows. If it took crosshair movement into consideration normal players would see themselves banned as well all the time. If it just used it to judge wether someone is suspicious and needs to be looked into, it would likely still flood the system, as it currently is.

      Yea these casual gamers say how obvious it is
      But it is obvious to us humans not machines
      You can’t ban someone based on inhumane mechanical skill
      What if some human in the corner of earth can flick accurately as the ac?
      The chances are low but this is always a possibility.
      The anti cheat devs know this
      “This is impossible to do for a human” is a wrong mindset to take when it comes to anti cheat
      What anti cheat devs try to do is find ways to detect modifications, external thirdparty tools etc
      NOT make an assumption based on insane mechanical plays

      I mean do you think humans can do this consistently? Firing at 90 degree angle in 0,05 seconds and go back looking forward and shoot when jumping down and do another 90degree flick in 0,05 seconds that literally bends a fkn arrow?
      Nah hitting them is one thing, being able to see/know where they are and hit a headshot and look forward again in 0,1 second consistently is inhuman.

    • @timsonnenberg6977
      @timsonnenberg6977 Год назад +2

      Its difficult to wrap your head around, how a program can judge behaviour and such patterns. It simply cant see or reason. Its given certain criteria and can only observe and determine based on those. It doesnt matter whether the movements are made inhumanly fast or inhumanly precise, it matters that theyre possible. Since they are, it would need to be told exactly when fast is too fast and when precise is too precise. Anyone with insane human aim would then run the risk of being suspected or even suspended due to having aim that was too fast and too precise or tracking too well. Its somewhat the same as trying to judge someone for cheating based on them having statistically 100% accuracy at the end of game. Its probable that a cheater would have that, but not all that do are cheaters. With the scale of OWs player numbers, a lot of innocent players would certainly be punished, if they tried such a method by sheer coincidence alone. The possibilities that Ai offers to try and solve this problem are very intriguing tho.

    shooting THROUGH bastion to get to his headbox is actually quite possible i do it regularly as orisa or ramattra. I dont know why it happens but it seems to me that in certain circumstances bastions body stops to exist for a couple of frames so you can shoot through him into the core. I can´t reproduce it consistently, it just keeps happening randomly every now and then, but its been a thing for quite a while now.

    • @zvorakfan2023

      My guess would be if a projectile is moving fast enough, assuming there’s a little bit of lag as well, the projectile goes straight from not touching bastion to touching his head hitbox in one frame, not giving it time to interact with his body hitbox.

    ngl most of those shots going through the walls and hitting people that arent there is likely due to some form of server side rewind that the replay doesnt properly render after the fact, cause most of the shots would make sense if you figure the hanzo is slightly in front of where he is. the replay just knows that the arrow did hit and makes it happen

    5:25 I believe the weird disjointed hits are just from shooter priority + internet lag. You can actually see stuff like this happen in a normal replay without cheaters if the shooter has a high enough latency. Presumably, the replay is showing what the server saw in the game, but priority is given to what the shooter sees when determining if a shot hits, so the weird jankiness here is just the server stitching the different perspectives together as best it can.
    6:20 Idk how Overwatch's engine does collision detection with projectiles/moving entities, but it's not uncommon for fast moving objects to move through small walls / corners in physics engines. Often collision detection is only checked every frame, so if something moves so fast that it moves through a wall in a single frame, then it can phase through. And It just so happens that corners are sorta just really thin walls at the very edge.
    So yeah, these two things aren't *necessarily* things caused by cheating, just kinda stuff that's way more noticeable when you have a computer compute shots extremely precisely to the point of edge cases coming up more frequently.
    Also, if there's anyone out there who knows the OW engine better than I do, feel free to correct me

    The reason the arrow curved at 5:30 isn't because the aimbot, it is because Hanzo's arrows are delayed hitscan so the aimbot cracked the head shot and it was too far for the projectile speed to catch up so the animation ganks because the arrow with a certain length the line is an animation segment.
