      @@joelramos3635 Inalso got ankle discomfort from the I3, much different though than my issue with the V17.
      The issue in the I3 is the heel clip design Nike uses. I had the same issue with the Infinity 1-3 and Invincible 1-3… that heel clip is doing something to limit some type of movement than my foot/ankle naturally does and that causes some soreness and eventual pain if I ran in any of those shoes too much.

    I went through this video a few weeks ago when it was first uploaded but wasn’t paying to close of an attention to it. I came back to watch it again as I just came back from a trip to HK and was walking whole days on the Vomero 17. Also went out for 2 training runs in the morning on the trip on them. After first 2 days I felt that my right calf was so tight that I can feel a bit of irritation. My left foot muscles and/or ligaments have gotten pretty tight as well. I didn’t have these experiences when I was doing all the walking on the Pegasus 40 and the Invincible 3s. I am not sure if the stability combined with the softness of the Zoom X on this platform has something to do with the conditions. I was average about 20k steps a day on the trip but never had I have some issues even on stiffer midsoles like On Cloud shoes.

      @@SagasuRunning Thanks for sharing. I am thinking the issues I am having come from the walking part of the days rather than running. Running along the hard concrete/tile surface of Avenue of Stars certainly didn’t help with the already tired leg muscles. The shoes might feel soft and I am having this theory where the softness + the strange platform made my foot and calf muscles having to work more even though it is just walking. I didn’t have these problem on harder midsoles such as On Cloud and Pegasus 40. I am guessing that I didn’t have that much of an issue with Invincible 3 was because the shoe’s platform is actually pretty wide. In fact, I was in them when I traveled to Taiwan for my race at Taroko and they treated my tired legs pretty well afterward.

      I haven’t seen anything about a V18 release this month (besides that one website everyone refers too which is always wrong). Nor do I know anyone who works in retail who sees a V18 or VP in their inventory systems. Nor has Nike issued a press release on them. So I wouldn’t expect it until spring 2025.
      From waht we have seen from the leaks the upper on the V18 looks similar to the V17 (which wasn’t bad) and the VP looks considerably softer and more open than the I3, which many will appreciate.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 месяца назад

      @@Animejook Ha, we have nearly opposite taste in shoe fit. I thought the tongue on the V17 was one of the best parts of the upper. It really helped the overall fit. I detest stretchy and thing tongues on shoes.
      The Peg41 has a good much. The lower part of the tongue is I thin(ner) engineered mesh and the upper part is padded. Great lockdown all around.
      I do know what you mean when the tongue is too spongy of a material and hair absorbs sweat. Those types are much more uncommon now. It is a fine line though.

  • @antic4312
    @antic4312 10 месяцев назад +1

    I think the midsole shaping of the Pegasus and the overall fit is much better (especially in the 39 > 40), but the ZoomX foam in the Vomero 17 feels so much nicer. That being said, I have about 300 miles in my Vomeros, and it has a lot of problems. It runs long while also being narrow, the upper is really thick and especially the tongue is WAY too plush, and the decoupled-ish groove in the back is too wide while the overall heel width of the shoe is still narrow. I think the Invincible 3 is honestly a much better shoe and promotes better biomechanics. It’s bouncier, more durable, and the sizing is spot on. The only problem with that shoe is the heel lockdown, but it goes away once the zoomx breaks in a bit and the heel foam starts conforming to your foot.
    Nike honestly needs to give us two trainers. A Pegasus with engineered mesh (not knit 😤) with a foam that’s maybe a bit softer and bouncier, kind of like the ride, priced around $130-140; and an Invincible with good heel lockdown and maybe a little bit less weight if possible (even though the shoe does not feel heavy at all - and for how wide the foam is, the weight is actually not that bad to begin with because the energy return is so insane). $180 is honestly pretty steep, but it’s also such a good shoe. Especially if the Pegasus becomes a bit more protective and is $40-50 cheaper, then the jump to the invincible is more down to personal preference as opposed to necessity (think Novablast > Superblast, or Cloudsurfer > Cloudeclipse). The Vomero feels redundant in the lineup rn. They should just focus their efforts on making a better ZoomFly to compete with the Endorphin Speed.
    That’s it. Come in Nike!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  10 месяцев назад +1

      The Nike Pegasus 41 looks to be considerably softer with ReactX foam… but I do have concerns on they. Hopefully they don’t come to fruition.
      The next Invincible also seems to be a big change and step forward for the shoe.
      I actually find the Vomero 17 more natural to run in over the Invincible… they doesn’t make the Invincible bad but I can be a handful.
      I agree though that Nike needs to evolve their trainers a little bits simplify and streamline most of them. There is a lot of bloat out there right now.

    Wish I had watched this before I purchased. Bought these and had the same experience, first run. I had to loosen the laces up a ton and still had pain. The tongue comes up really high and is so thick. And then I think the softness of the outsole makes your ankle work harder to stay stable. I had this same experience with the Invincible. Pretty done with higher stack zoom x.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  8 месяцев назад

      ZoomX is a soft foam which inherently has low stability. That does require strong ankles and can catch you off guard if you aren’t prepared for it.

      I bought my Vomeros a month ago and I've run approx 200km in them. The plan was that they are my daily trainers for the winter. I've had the Pegasus 38, 39 and 40. I wanted something softer. In the beginning, with the Vomeros, I had slight pain on the soles of my feet always during the first kilometres of a run. Then that stopped happening. I guess my feet adjusted. And I did always feel that the Vomeros ever so slightly tried to push my feet to turn outward as you described. My right foot did not give in so to say. Rather the shoe adjusted to my foot. My right shoe feels now perfect! I would really like to have my left foot land so I could feel the weight under my big toe. But it feels as if the left shoe guides my foot to turn outward. And after a 20km easy run yesterday, i feel slight pain on the ankle at the same spots you were showing on the video. I've liked to run in the Vomeros (vs Pegasus 40). But if my ankle says otherwise, i will have to search for alternatives..

      @SagasuRunning  2 месяца назад

      @ArttuJuselius Ya… I think this problem is very specific to one certain foot strikes. The untrained some foam over a firmer foam with lack of support under it can be a problem for sure. Good news is that the V18 looks to be a totally different design and doesn’t carry this midsole detail forward.

    I suspect these shoes are highly sensitive to foot length. The smaller foot being the one abused by the zoomx enlargement transition area. Best method to bring my smaller foot forward 2mm? (Just measured my feet length and there the variance between my left and right is 8mm😢)

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  11 месяцев назад

      Interestingly while I’m right side dominant my left foot is also about 6mm longer than my right and a bit higher volume. So fit for me is usually better on my left foot. The difference is minor enough that I don’t really worry about it or that it really causes problems for me.
      If you want to make up the difference you’d need to explore the use of orthotics.

    This is excellent analysis with a clear rationale for causation. Incredible that the worlds largest trainer manufacturer overlooked this in 2023… how can the same company responsible for the Alpha Fly create such error strewn (the insertion of Zoom X in that design) or thoughtless creations in everyday categories. I hope Nike listen…
    What are your thoughts on Nike as an overall run trainer brand. They have their super shoes covered but where is the coherence beneath that…
    Invincible >Vomero>Pegasus>StreakFly this doesn’t seem convincing against Saucony, ASICS, Puma or Adidas.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  11 месяцев назад +2

      I personally don’t think it’s and oversight. It’s far too large. My guess is they angling in the rail in that area of the shoe is there to soften initial impact on strike in some form (same reason it’s on the Pegasus). I can’t believe it didn’t come up in testing though… unless all the testers were only heel strikers?
      As for Nike’s trainers… it’s a bit iffy at the moment. The Peg > Vaporfly combo (with a Streakfly thrown in there) is outstanding. However there are a lot of other trainers > racer lines now that are overall more built out or versatile.
      In 2024 a Peg > Turbo > VF3 > AF3 combo is going to be outstanding… but I can say that about a few other brands now…

If you are just a neutral runner, the Vomero's will support you, but if you are heavy, I would say don't go for the Vomero's, the unstable foam is not great for heavy runners. Umm not good. I wore mine again the other day for a "plod" quite enjoyed them for that but mine are more like at 50 miles not 100. Will have to observe what's going on there for me. Vomero 17 takes my record at 15g by having the biggest weight difference between the two shoes. TBF can't notice it on foot but could "sort of" have a similar effect if one is slightly dragging over the other. In hindsight is that a sort of thing you could question and ask to be swopped at. Another 2 layer midsole shoe I had was the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 which I also retired at 100 miles as felt the foam(s) had just gone "flat". Others seemed to use them way longer so sometimes maybe we just have a bad luck with a certain shoe.

      I had something like that with the original Velocity Nitro right at 500km where the nitro foam suddenly degraded past some threshold and I was getting foot pain. But 500km is not really a durability problem. I was put off by how sudden and unpleasant the change was, though.

    Yeah, Vomero 17 feels really unstable on the outside of my feet and after long runs I definitely feel soreness right in the region which you highlight in the video. It tends to roll outwards really easy.
    I also can't get a good lockdown on first try with that bulky plush tongue which might contribute to the problem.

    I have this problem with the zoom fly 5... it buldges so insanely heavy into the midfoot part of the shoe, only on the medial site on my left foot, that I'm worried that it is actually affecting my runningform a lot. Since the enture structure of the shoe starts to lean into those buldges...
    And that after around 80km. Not sure if I should keep using it or trashing it as a bad purchase.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  11 месяцев назад +1

      The ZF5 is a bit of a brick… too heavy… to wide… too dead… there is no Zoom or fly left in the shoe or series…

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  11 месяцев назад

      In the I3… not really. The formula of ZoomX used there seems a bit firmer than what is used in the VF/AF. Plus the strobel board under the insole makes the shoe overall stiffer.
      The I3 never really becomes “squishy” but it does break in and flex with your foot better, which messes it feel less clunky over time.

Zoomx invincible cause me a bit of supination on the forefoot, for the same reason. i have Valgus knee (my feet are a bit rotated inward). the combination of both = stress/strech of the outside part of the knee = Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS). I don't consider the vermero as a daily trainer cos there's not enough cushion in the forefoot compared to the heel. It's ok for casual wear but definetly not recommended for daily runs even for shot distance. Just bought the gel nimbus 25 for a kiiler price at the asics clearence sale & I'm loving every bit of it. Extremely comfortable & there's plenty of support & cushion at the forefoot & heel. It's the type of shoe that will make u run even when u don't feel like it😂😂😂
    Highly recommended.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 месяцев назад +2

      You do know that the Vomero is Nike’s high cushion line for high volume (long) running with a plush step I feel. Not event shoe needs to be 30mm in the forefoot. I consider, as do most, the Vomero to be an extremely cushioned shoe, though I do agree there is an emphasis on the heel cushion. And that heel emphasis is why I disagree that is is a good casual shoe… you sink on far too much into the foam and almost have a negative drop feel… very awkward to walk in.
      The Nimbus, at best, is an easy day shoe but it’s mainly meant as also a high cushioned shoe. Similar to the Vomero. I do d the Nimbus too heavy, bulky and mushy for anything more than a recovery run… even then the Novablast 4 is a better shoe for that.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, but her foot strike and running gate matter more. If she is landing on her forefoot, on the outside of her foot she may run into issues well before if she is a heel striker who pronates, which if that is the case she likely will have no issues at all.
      I got about 90mins, or a few months, out of these before the problems arose once the foams started to break in.

    I’ve been dealing with the exact pain for 10 years now that you’re dealing with in the Vomero 17. I don’t run anymore unfortunately due to peroneal and extensor tendonitis in both feet and I’m wondering if using the Vomero 17 as an everyday work shoe/walking shoe if I’ll experience the same problems down the road? I noticed today the lack of stability on the left side of the forefoot wearing the Vomero 17 for the second time and it has me thinking about returning my Vomero’s to the Nike store and getting the Nimbus 25’s instead which feel similar but have more stability.
    Since I already have peroroneal tendonitis issues do you think I’ll have issues with my peroneal tendon hurting the more I use this shoe as an everyday work shoe/walking shoe? Should I get the ASICS Nimbus 25 instead?
