    I wear size 44 2/3 in both the Adios 8 and Boston 12. I quite like the fit of the Adios 8, but I find I need to tighten the laces a bit too much with the Boston 12. I wear size 44.5 in the Vaporfly 3, Pegasus 41, and Pegasus Plus. The Vaporfly 3 feels great, whereas the Pegasus 41 is very tight and puffy in the toe box. The Pegasus Plus fits somewhat okay, but I still have to tighten the laces more than I’d like, with plenty of room in the toe box.
    I’d appreciate your opinion on sizing for both the Evo SL and Adios Pro 4.
    Thank you so much! 🙏

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +1

      In the AP4, likely you should start with the same size as the the Adios 8, though pay attention to your toes.
      In the ESL... it's hard to say. I'd also suggest starting with the same size as th AP4, but trying .5 size down, making sure your toes have enough length.
      All the Nike shoes you have are all longer than either Adidas. The upepr toebox volume fit of the ESL is most close to the Vaporfly 3, though the VF3 fits better over all.
      Thank you for the donation. I appreciate the support. 🤙🏻

      Just to add some comments on the sizing because I have tried all the shoes you mentioned (some I have, some I tried on a treadmill at store)
      My sizing :
      US12 for all nike (peg 41, VF, ZF6)
      US 11,5 for adios 8, Pro 3, Evo SL, Pro4
      US11 for boston 12
      I like around a thumb width from the front end of my shoes to my longest toe. Below is my comment on sizing for your reference
      Peg 41 as a reference. US12 is spot on, I even felt this shoe dissapear on my feet after 8-9km of running. My toe def hit the toebox if I went with 11,5
      Adios 8 with US11,5 and boston 12 with US11 fit the best for me with thinner sock. I tried Adios 8 with US12 and it was too long.
      Evo SL : I felt like racing fit with half size down than peg 41 (US 11,5). Need to wear thinner sock.
      Pro 4 : US11,5 with thinner sock was the best fit for me

    You've nailed my thoughts on rockered shoes, that they control how you run and feel best while midfoot striking. It's like the shoe is falling away before I get to the toe-off and the lever effect from the big toe is missing.

    I was choosing between these two shoes. I live in Australia. The biggest problem with Nike is their pricing. All of their shoes are jumping up in price compared to their competitors. What makes it even worse is that Adidas have sales and vouchers that you can useD nearly all the time, which makes the price gap even larger. I just picked up the Evo SL for $113USD, while the Pegasus Plus is $164USD.
    Also, they’ve just released the new all black Alphafly and it’s a whopping $252USD!!!! Like WTF

    - Introduction: Comparison between Adidas Evo SL and Nike Pegasus Plus, highlighting a significant difference that influences preference.
    - Overview: Both shoes are minimalist performance trainers with simple uppers and the brand's super foam in the midsole, offering a pure experience without stiffening agents.
    - Specs:
    - Adidas Evo SL has a higher stack height but this isn't the key difference.
    - Both shoes feel lower in drop than they are and have similar ride profiles.
    - Adidas Evo SL is slightly lighter but not noticeably so on foot.
    - Ride Profiles:
    - Adidas Evo SL: Springy ride due to Lightstrike Pro Classic foam.
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: Resilient sync and push-out feel from ZoomX foam.
    - Key Difference: Geometry
    - Adidas Evo SL: Rockered modern geometry.
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: Traditional flatter geometry.
    - Contact Patch and Outsole:
    - Similar dimensions but Nike Pegasus Plus has a narrower midfoot.
    - Difference in widest point location affects ride dynamics.
    - Uppers:
    - Both have minimalist, lightweight uppers.
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: Preferred due to classic Flyknit upper, offering a sock-like fit.
    - Adidas Evo SL: Textile upper with too much forefoot volume, leading to a baggy fit.
    - Fit and Sizing:
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: True to size, excellent fit.
    - Adidas Evo SL: True to size for training fit, half size down for performance fit.
    - Midsole:
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: Durable, rubberized ZoomX foam, suitable for training.
    - Adidas Evo SL: Lightstrike Pro Classic foam, offering a sudden energy return and dynamic ride.
    - Performance Matrix:
    - Adidas Evo SL: Best for threshold running, not ideal for easy runs or very fast running.
    - Nike Pegasus Plus: Versatile, good for easy runs, threshold running, and speed work.
    - Verdict:
    - Preference for Nike Pegasus Plus due to traditional geometry and control over pace.
    - Adidas Evo SL likely to be preferred by most runners for its modern geometry and cushioning.
    - Both shoes complement each other well in a training rotation.
    - Conclusion: Both shoes are valuable for different types of runs, and having both can enhance a training rotation.

    There we go that’s the one I was waiting for.
    The NP+ is a remarkable trainers.
    To my surprise it’s never bottomed for me and somehow it’s got enough resiliency to avoid harshness of some lower stack running shoes.
    you nailed this one spot on;it’s let you dictate the ride instead of encouraging your run form.
    The most notable sensation is when you shift gears and change speeds-it feel so fun and natural and bouncy almost like CVT transmission kind of.
    Overall I do like this new plat-less lower stack super foam direction.
    Shoes with a wide spectrum of capabilities that can do a variety of training and even races.
    Edit; the fix of the matrix regarding the easy/steady is also on point👍
    The NP+ does easy/steady parts in workouts with no issues for me.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +2

      Right? The PP is such a direct shoe but always feels smooth. I love it for that.
      I have only recently warmed up to the PP as a easy day shoe. I still prefer the Peg41 for that...but can swap the PP now interchangeably. I did change the performance matrix for the PP from the last time it was on the channel, towards easy...but it will never be a shoe I'll recommend as a dedicated easy shoe for anyone.

    Great vs video. I own both and have put in ~50kms in the ESL and just over 100kms in the NP+ over the last month.
    You raise a great point about the prominent rocker in the ESL encouraging you to run in a certain way/tempo.
    I feel like when I run in the NP+ I have much more control of how I’m running. There’s a bit more of an explosive feeling when you shift through the gears. The NP+ has a nice snap to it and as weird as this might sound, makes it feel like your quads are really engaged and driving you forward.
    The ESL feels like I can run with 10-15% less effort. It’s definitely got more bounce to it (vs the snap of the NP+) and once you find the sweet spot (for me it’s around 04:45-04:50 p/km) it ticks over really nicely.
    It’s a shame the NP+ hasn’t been well received. I feel like if Nike could have made it $20-30 cheaper more people would have taken a chance on it.
    Keep up the great content 👏

      On your last point, that's so true. The pricing was too much, and now that the ESL is out now, they cost almost the same, at least where I'm from.
      They both sound like great shoes and I'm torn between which I'll get but it will also come down to availability. Also wish we got more 'darker' colourways because the light colourways we have are going to be a nightmare for the terrain here.

      @ronswansonsmoustache3561 9 дней назад +1

      @ As much as I think the NP+ is great it’s definitely not worth the full retail price. It’s $260 here in Australia which makes it $20 more than the ESL and Novablast 5. $40 more than the Rebel v4, and $80 more than the SL2… yeah, Nike could and should do better here.
      I happened to get the NP+ for 25% off otherwise I probably wouldn’t have bought them.

      @@ronswansonsmoustache3561 I thought we had it bad here, Australia is worse. The NP+ is about $200 here in South Africa, and the ESL is about $180.

    A key talking point here is price. I love that Adidas launched at $150 (vs $180 by Nike). It’s the first time in recent memory that a (big) brand has actually fought the trend of steady MSRP hikes. I hope a lot of consumers vote with their dollars and force the other brands to take notice.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +2

      I never consider (or often look at) prices of running shoes. It is a total non factor for me and splitting hairs over $30 USD seems ridiculous. This is one, of multiple, reasons, why I rarely talk about price on this channel
      BUT! I do know it's a big deal for most. So I let others debate it and make it a thing.

    @stakstonkvinge 10 дней назад +2

    Thank you for another video! I appreciate your opinion on these shoes. One thing though. In your performance matrix, you equal these shoes, but in your summary you argue that they are so different that you can have both in the rotation… it seems to me that the performance matrix shouldn’t be similar.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +2

      It's all about the geometry and how to use them. I can do the exact same running/workouts in both shoes (and have), as I pointed out in the end, but now that I have both I can use them in specific area for what they really are optimal for.
      So days I might want to be in more control of my run (PP) and others I might want the shoe to help me more (ESL)...

    I’ve actually had both shoes. The Evo SL never made it out of my living room. Given my 5’6” frame, I can’t get by the muted proprioception of most shoes these days. I should’ve known better, but I love the adidas foam. Given my rather lengthy history w/ the Swoosh, I knew the last was perfect, and as you said in one video, the “Nike feel” and fit always seem to work for me. I beat the crap out of the Peg Plus - durability was exceptional - then turned them over to my grandson for daily wear, and I’m back to my peg 41 and Hyperion 2.
    I did give the adios 9 a treadmill shot, but the foam was borderline “sloppy” for me. Instant mid-PF pain; ironically, never had that w/ the v8 or TS 8.
    Love your take and analyses!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +1

      The PP definitely has loads of proprioceptive feedback. I love it especially for hill running due to that.
      I'm curious about your reaction to the Adios 9. I wonder if it is due to the lack of stability, as it is a proper race flat. I find i much prefer the new LSP in the A9 over the AP4.
      The Adios 8 and TS8 were both very stiff compared to the A9. Much more structured around the foot, especially mid foot, as well.

    • @saddleback7662
      @saddleback7662 9 дней назад +2

      On hindsight, you’re correct. I still drag the TS 8 out on occasion, and I loved the adios 8, aside from the infernal slapping of the plastic torsion piece - but they both were very stable for my foot strike - and the foam was durable and a perfect durometer. But the adios 9, actually was like a negative drop for me, and I’m a midfoot striker, totally. Just walking around my foot had excess movement- and on the treadmill, instant midfoot fascia strain - didn’t get one mile in it. (Last time that happened was in the mid80s w/ the Nike Vortex) Strange though, cause the adios 9 does have a midfoot shank of sorts…. Def a conundrum for me. Wonder if the ZF 6 is an option…. Again, great topic and analysis.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +2

      The rather extreme heel bevel of the A9 is one criticism I have of the shoe. As a forefoot striker I don’t notice it running. Walking though it can feel like a negative drop, which I pointed out in a review. I can see where a midfoot striker would suffer the same issue now.
      The ZF6 is very nice on a treadmill (oddly) and quite nice to run in otherwise. Though it’s substantially more shoe than any Adidas we have been discussing here. It doesn’t have more structure than all of them due to the plate though.

    I have been very impressed with my Evo SLs so far and completely agree about the "generous" fit in the forefoot. Not something that I had experienced in an Adidas shoe before. One thing I had noticed is that the material of the insole seems much more slick/slippery when compared to other shoes I own, and I get the sensation of sliding around inside the shoe. I was wondering if you had a similar experience, and whether you think it might be contributing to the sensation of poor lockdown in the forefoot?

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 дней назад +1

      Adidas always has to make one shoe a year with an odd fit. It is like they plan it that way.
      I've not found the outsole on the ESL slippery at all. I've spent quite a bit of time in wet to dry in it too (mix of construction on one of my main routes where they clan the streets hourly with water and rain/mist). No issues at all. Even if I'm intentionally twisting my foot to try to break grip.
      A poor fit could add to this feeling, but if that poor fit is in the forefoot (like it is in the ESL) it will often become apparent on toe off.

      @@SagasuRunning Thanks for the response! I was referring to the insole of the shoe though, i.e. where my sock makes contact with the inside of the shoe. Comparatively, the material of the insole of my Takumi Sen feels much coarser. I agree about the outsole on the ESL though, the continental rubber is excellent.

      @@SagasuRunninghe is talking about the INsole of the shoe and sliding around INSIDE the shoe :)
      That's also a problem I have from time to time and then i experiment with the socks, then blame all the socks because this artificial material is so slippery but good for transport the sweat away. Oldschool wool socks are notslippery but they soak up the sweat.
      Anyway, if you find a) a better sock for the given shoe + b) lace the shoe better in terms of crank it down from the lowest eyelet until the end, that often helps.
      If now, try also using the last eyelets or if that is awkward, go for the lace lock method (marathon lacing).
      If that doesn't help, you may try out another insole. If all together don't work, the shoe just doesn't fit/work for you - sell it!

How do you tailor your shoe, foam, and plate choice towards your training? Long topic but recently I've been switching between Endorphin Speed 4 and Nimbus 26 , but the Nimbus just feels super sluggish so i dont enjoy it as much. @SagasuRunning my comment is in response to your's in the video when you said because the Evo SL has a more pronounced rocker, you had a harder time forcing it to run slower since you tend to have a higher cadence. As a slightly lower cadence runner (low 170s), I'm wondering if the Evo SL might be easier to keep at slower/easier paces? But then you had to go ahead in the video and tell me to buy both ;) which is now very tempting :)

    • @SagasuRunning

      Oh… they I don’t think so. It’s more the ESL is just so aggressive and the rocker constantly tips you forward. Regardless of your cadence you are going to have a hard time keeping the shoe slow. I mean it can be done, but why bother, when there are many other great shoes for slow running out there to pair with the ESL.
