It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

Matt, been watching for years and appreciate the innovation you bring to the industry. Can you do more videos on best practices for those of us with a much more modest budget. I'm talking about $400k spec home types. While I can appreciate the technology you use on these builds some of us want to do better with the budget limits we are forced to work around.

Matt, I installed a Japanese heat pump water heater here in Alaska. They have a choice of three different water tanks that can be installed anywhere you want. The heat pump it’s self gets put outside and is rated down to -20 Fahrenheit. It puts out water at 150 degrees and they include a mixing valve.

Matt - These videos are great, but what they're missing is additional details about integration of the Dehumidifiers, the makeup air systems (MUAS), and/or ERV into the homes. Meaning, how do you duct the Dehu, MUAS into the existing ducting OR into its own ducting? Not everyone can afford the stand alone ERV system, and to be able to use these tools effectively, you need to be able to show builders and contractors the best practices and/or cost effective solutions to these problems. One video for each - a dehumidifier, MUAS (+Bath Fans), ERV specific video for each would be amazing! This can be helpful for remodelers as well! I've been watching for years, and I still struggle to understand how to properly, yet still cost effectively, integrate these into my mechanical systems! Even our HVAC contractor isn't as familiar with these tools as your viewers are, so it'd be nice to have additional videos to share with them that aren't 35 minutes long! One of the more helpful videos you put out recently was with the Georgia builder/developer (Scott True) who came up with his own version of what you've done with Zip + MUAS, Dehu HVAC, but that's even lacking some granularity for the specific trades (mostly HVAC). You've taught us a bunch about HVAC, but would be great to see some more specifics about the budget options for the rest of us! As a developer, I've found it difficult to communicate the processes and final product properly to the subs, that won't force them to deviate from what they normally do OR make them want to charge an additional arm and a leg for the additional workload. Thank you as always! Such a great channel full of useful information!

From someone who has done service calls on HVAC equipment in attics the small but "EXTREMELY " important detail about insulating the condensate line.
I was called for an insurance job for a 2yr old job to reconfigure and replace the non-insulated condensate drain that sweat had damaged the entire ceiling in a great room.
Great job Nacho. Good hvac installers should have good hvac "SERVICE" techs driving the install process.
Any profit can be lost when the contractor has to buy a new ceiling.

Matt, a informative video as always on best practices. Two suggestions, "budget" is a relative term and the vast majority of spec builders would scoff at including this system in any of their projects. Maybe you could do a follow up with a more common sense approach that could be adopted to conventional houses for the masses fully recognizing that a air tight, energy efficient building can be very adequate with run of the mill HVAC equipment, so dollar for dollar that is probably the best approach anyway.
Also, I realize that they are not sponsors but it would be most valuable for you to list the name brands of all of the pieces used in your videos such as the vibration dampers, condensate drain supports etc. etc. since they can easily be adopted by us the g contractors and general public if they knew where to get them easily... Thanks, Peter

Excellent equipment & installation! I had Daikin ductless mini-splits installed on my own house in Fall 2020 & the 3 zone condenser failed in 2 years. It's under warranty, (parts only) but under Daikin's direction, the circuit board was tested & replaced - didn't work - then compressor tested & determined to be bad. I'm trying to negotiate with Daikin for a new unit vs more replacement labor. It's not going well. I think I'll change to Mitsubishi for future jobs.

Love our Hyperheat system! Just found out a couple months ago we had been running it in two-stage mode because of our stupid Nest thermostat. Changed it out for the OEM thermostat, and the difference is noticeable in comfort and quietness.

    Two comments :
    1. if you want to save money a single heat pump with damper would be cheaper than 2 separate systems.
    2. Because Mitsubishi HP run the fun continuously at low speed by default, it makes even more sense to use ERV/HRV connected to the same ducts instead then separate ducts or at most a hybrid system with separate returns from. bathrooms if you want to avoid bath fans.

Another great show with good ideas.
I am not as familiar with the new heat pumps since I rarely if ever used heat in southeast Florida. My current house (got what was available) has gas heat with AC. Heat pumps are definitely more efficient but I always worried about how they worked for really cold days in north Georgia.
Does the switched damper go on the air output of the stove hood or just to allow replacement air? I found that vents for the stove and the exhaust for the gas fireplace hurt efficiency for heating and cooling. I would like to close both when not being used.
I have always been a fan of LED lighting. I always buy warm white (2700 to 3000) LED lights which are softer on the eyes.
All new info helps me get ideas for building an off the grid (except internet) house in the near future.

Heat strips are a MUST for when the heat pump fails on a cold day. And it will fail. Or, as has happened to me more than once, heat pump gets covered with ice/snow enough to jam the condenser fan from a storm or water dripping off the roof and freezing on the unit. Heat strips are cheap. As for wiring you are likely just bumping up from 12 to 10 gauge. Have to run the circuit anyway.

** probably should have looked at a Bosch system. That we've been more budget-friendly. Yes, hanging a systems is great but the vibration springs a little bit of overkill for residential. You notice that they did not mention price to be compared to what budget-friendly means. I'm just curious of the power consumption that 2- dehumidifiers are doing electric bill, plus HVAC system That was probably a $60,000 -70,000 job , to most contractors that's not a budget-friendly. But on another note it does look like the contractor did a fine installation! ( but I would put a vent cap on the PVC pipe instead of duct tape)

There are two options, one is with the Mitsubishi PAC-US444CN Thermostat interface module, the other is with the Airzone Aidoo pro network adapter. Both are modules that tie into the air handler control board on the CN105 connector.

That install is commercial quality. I have never seen that in a residential setting, which is so disappointing. I wonder what pricing 'New Results' charges for that level of quality work? My residential system compressor sits on a concrete platform, no damping, just outside my kitchen window, and when it turns on vibrates the hell out of the window. The air handler (AHU) hangs from the ceiling in the garage, not the best place for the AHU. Would like to move that elsewhere.

What is the emergency heat for the heat pump on defrost cycle? If heat strips are they 10,000 watts? That might challenge a small generator if so.

Don't need it with these inverter systems in a lot of cases. I have ducted LG heat pumps in my house, when in defrost they shut off the indoor blower, and wait till the indoor coil is warm again before restarting it.

I had a heat pump replaced in 2021 with a Trane 18 seer. It cost me 16k and I thought that was mid tier cost wise😂. I’m rather disappointed in its cold weather performance too.

Questions of curiosity as a homeowner. Why are some homes left with that 1 room, usually at the end of the line, that is unconditioned/unheated well? Closing vents or leaving all doors open to circulate doesn't work out with older children. Also, how sealed should our doors be relating to seeing some light escape in corners or at the floor? Are homes supposed to be completely airtight with central air in the living spaces?

    • @NewResults
      @NewResults Год назад +1

Poor duct design or installation, an unbalanced air distribution system, or lack of retun air in the bedrooms are some of the factors that could account for uncomfortable rooms.
Bedrooms should have either a dedicated return or a jumper duct to a common area to de-pressurize the room.
As part of the commissioning process, the installing contractor should measure static pressure at the air handler, adjust the blower motor for that static pressure drop, measure the air flow to each register with a flow hood and adjust the balancing dampers at the duct branches to make sure each room in the house is getting the air flow as per the manual J design.
The exterior doors should have a proper gasket to make them airtight.
Matt has a lot of great videos explaining why we should make our homes as tight as possible.

@@NewResults Sadly the home was built in 2001 so the bathroom seems a lost cause without some work. There is a small square vent outlet, at the top, on the 16'+ ceiling A frame apart from the exhaust fan. It is nothing like a vent in the attached Master bedroom. Sounds like interior doors need to be partially open for bedrooms or we need an open vent at the top of the internal doors for return air.

About the dehumidifier, what he’s not telling you is he would reduce the need for a dehumidifier if you did a two stage a/c instead of variable. Variable never gets a chance to collect condensation because it never turns off.

  • @sicsempertyrannus226
    @sicsempertyrannus226 Год назад

Why is the vent on the condensate line taped? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the vent? Doesn't it exist to avoid the water leaving the trap from creating negative pressure and pulling the rest of the water in the trap with it?

In the shoulder seasons mini splits simply don't run enough to dehumidify the home, that's why a standalone dehumidifier is needed.
