I have a set of these, CNC ported version from AFR. They are on a .040" over 454 with a ZZ 502 H.O. cam - I feel like the cam will be the biggest thing holding it back from making more power.
That would be an interesting one to see the Dyno sheet from. Smaller cubes, big roller and small heads.
So...those heads will flow 700HP? I have seen a few Richard Holdener videos and these heads make tons of torque all the way across the range and dang good HP numbers to boot! Even on 496’s....
I'll never figure out why Chevrolet made the exhaust ports evenly spaced but siamesed the intake ports.
THOSE ARE GOING TO WORK KILLEE WITH THE VELOCITY DOWN LOW

Ok eric i think i found the video but will these heads now go to 7200 to 7400 rpm with the right came the solid roller i have is 7200 rpm peak i know with my hydraulic roller they only go go 6400 rpm
that spark plug hole is massive. once the spark plug is in it will change the whole dynamics of the head.
The valve pocket depth with a small chamber and that much lift will be a concern even move if the cid is small.

Did you ask the customer why they were using this small of a head with a cam with almost 800 lift? It seems like a bigger head would offer a bunch more flow with little downside other than needing a different intake. I also have questions if a roval port intake can flow almost 400 cfm.
The reason was it took 14months for me to get the heads in that time the project changed.
They can flow 400 but at that point just do a regular rectangle port.
I can't see a downfall to having as much lift as you can as long as the head is still flowing and not backing up. Of course in a Non boosted engine combo.
That is tons flow???!!!. Early Pro-Stocks could barely get there??..
What was the lift at the flow you stated? I need to get you a set of AFR 325s I’ve had for two years.

I forwarded this to a friend who is higher up at AFR so they would catch the constructive criticism. I will probably see him face to face later today as he is out here at the river this weekend.
They know the issues. Afr has been really great to me and they don’t sell bad products. They scrap a lot of rejects that others would sell.
@@WeingartnerRacing I guess part of my point was to let him see your feedback since he is my friend and I have been buying Racetec Pistons from him for years.
With a long and a short runner do you try to get them equal or maximize each one?
Are the intake manifolds in any way adapted so they have longer runner for the short in the head? Maybe that wouldnt do much anyways?
They aren't but it still works.
You said 278 at .400, what was it before you ported it?
After before it was 260 ish
@Eric Weingartner that's kind of interesting. Afr claims 278 on their website. Do you think that is a testing method difference or a differencen in benches maybe. What would you attribute that difference to?
