    The issue will still continue as long as you don't give the PS5 some room _in the back_ where the heat exhausts. Not rocket science.

      It still shouldn't be that loud. Also, if he sets it up in an open space and it still makes that noise then that debunks your theory.

    • @funkyflights

      People are allowing plenty of space and still saying the fan kicks up loud, so it could be the fan size issue and it’s just not venting as good …

      @UniversalStand how's the man lying? He's literally showing video evidence. Mine does the same thing. I have a similar enclosure except it stands up vertically. Both my Slim and Fat PS5 will run quiet when I sit them out in the open and both will ramp up the fan inside my entertainment center, but the slim will be considerably louder to the point where it's somewhat concerning.

    If the back of your cabinet isn’t open, that’s the issue. I deal with airflow and hvac. The design of exhaust ports on the back, along with the high rpm means you need clear access from the back for exhaust venting. Get it out of there, you’ll see a difference. Unless you’ve toasted it already. Which is fairly easy to do with heat.

    The heat goes out the back , with the unit being closed at the back you are feeding hot air back into the system. I have my consoles on top of the desk next to a window and when the fan kicks in open the window and let cold air in. Works every time

      Exactly lol, i was thinking the same thing. If you owned a gaming PC this would be a no brainer. These consoles aren't the yester years ( Ex: PS1, or PS2 ). This is what PC gamers deal with when gaming, and these new console act more like a PC with a unique OS.

    • @PouchMaster
      @PouchMaster Год назад +1

      And it's so important to give these consoles a break! I never play for more than 70 minutes at a time. Sony was supposed to solve the problem of graphics cards running so hot, but instead created an ugly console designed to dissipate the incredible amount of heat better than the PS4. It must be kept vertical on it's stand out in the open, or it will eventually break like the guys in the video soon will.

      my pc also blow air out the back, but it is gettin cold air fed by front fans, the question is also where is it gettin fresh air from? if its getting it from the front the warm air shouldnt be fed back into the sysytem worse case ambient air around is couple degrees higher. but that should be enough space for a liquid metal console to be cooled.

    I’m considering a purchase of a Slim PS5, thanks for the insight and real-life use example. I did check the manual online for the CFI-2015, though. Page 6, Setup and Handling; “Do not use the console in a closed cabinet or other locations where heat may build up.”
    Page 12, Vents;
    - Place the console at least 10 cm (4 in) away from a wall surface.
    - Do not place on a carpet or rug with long fibers.
    - Do not place in a narrow or cramped space.
    - Do not cover with cloth.
    - Do not allow dust to build up on the vents. Use a cleaning tool such as a handheld vacuum cleaner to remove dust buildup.
    It would be worth the time to attempt to address these variables before writing off the unit as a dud. I also wonder if that 4 inch clearance also applies to the top and sides of the unit? Good luck bro

      I noticed that too. I had my p s five slim for a bottom month before I noticed the noise. I ended up getting a replacement from the fat model that I had because it went out a month after the warranty went out in gamestop. I did the v extended warranty and got the replacement slim for it. Anyway, I quit playing tekken 8 for the evening and when I quit the game I noticed the console noise bogged down so I. Relaunched the game and the noise kicked back up. So it definitely does spin up when the game is launched. And it does spend faster at times to help compensate the cooling of the slim. And based off where the heat sinks are. If you look at a tear down video one is like towards the front of the console while the second heat sink is at the back of the console which is why the bag of a console's really hot and the front of its fairly cool. So I really think it's just the way. There's slim is designed so it very well could be a patch that a help with the fan speed. Slash noise, but who knows. I've also seen videos of people. Removing the fan and putting like 5 mm. Six millimeter oh rings in between the console and the fan housing to help mute the noise. The way I see it the way the PlayStation, 4 was on the fan noise and heck. Even going back to the old Xbox, 360 console. Now those were fricking loud, even the PlayStation 3 was loud imo. But the PlayStation 5 slim is nowhere near as loud as the PlayStation. 4 in the old clock 360.
      But you can definitely hear the fan for sure

    This Christmas, we were lucky enough to finally pick up both a Xbox Series X and a PS5 Slim so we are in a good position to compare latest builds. The X Box is silent even when playing Forza for ages....amazing really. The PS5 Slim is silent when starting up....however, launch a Digital game to eliminate drive noise (from disc spinning) and immediately the fans kick in....not overly loud but much more noticeable compared to the X-Box. Both units are not in a media cabinet with plenty of air flow. When playing Spiderman there was a constant "whine" from the PS5. It is early days but I need to get more testing done (it was enough to annoy me even with sound on). My son is on the X-Box most nights so I have not had much access to my PS5. On first impressions I'm far more impressed with the Xbox hardware. I will update comment once more testing performed

    I had the original OG (Disc) as soon as it came out in 2020. Don't want to be the bearer of bad news (and hopefully this info is upgraded for the better), but I had my original OG in the same position and size cabinet as yours. - And while it completely protected it from acquiring internal dust, the whole thing eventually went into meltdown and blew. Now I have my recently purchase Slim (Disc) in vertical out in the open so it has plenty of breathing room. As for protecting the Console from dust - when I don't use the console - I unplug it from the powerboard, then place a thick plastic linen bag over it. So far, so good. - But have just bought it so I have not had the time to play games and really test it at the moment... But 2024 is here and looking forward to playing LOU 2 and FFVII: Rebirth.

    The problem is when you have the console in a closed space where the hot air can’t escape, doesn’t matter how big the space is, if it’s closed on the back the air will return to the console and that’s why it forces the vents to get it cooler. Get that console out of there

    So after investigating all day, I can confirm that the Slim still uses 4 brands: Nidec, Foxconn (plain motor), Nmb (3 branches motor), and Delta. I've seen them all from videos except the Delta but in Reddit people claim they saw it too. The difference is that in the Slim CFI-20xx, all of them now come with the same design and number of blades (19) but still have different sounds, despite Sony apparently trying to unify its fan design. I can also confirm that on my Japanese Slim (CFI-2000) I got the Nidec fan (8 dots on the motor, but no branding like on the OG PS5). The idle sound on mine is greatly silent, but the in-game sound not so much, it still have the UFO-ish sound, but not as bad as the infamous 17 blades of the OG PS5. I'd say it's much closer to the Nidec V3 (which makes sense since it's chronologically the closest fan to that one), and it's acceptable. I'm not gonna bother getting another fan or console, since this time around, in the case of the PS5 Slim, it's another model than the Nidec that seems to be the worst from what I read in reddit and RUclips, although people didn't check the branding. So @The Stack could you please check what model of fan is this, since that would help, you can do it by simply remove the cover on the NVME side and describe the fan's motor.
