    Just followed this to replace a broken ring on a Megane. The Renault manual would want you to remove the calipers but your method was brilliant.

    Thanks a lot for this. I somehow manage to rip the cv boot whilst undoing the lower bolts, so probably ended up costing myself more having that sorted. First time doing something like this so wasn’t focused on it…

    Awesome video, this has really saved me a lot. I have a 2002 Clio Mk2 1.2 16v (great second car). I know, it's old but it really is a good little car. I had an ABS fault start a couple of weeks ago. Whenever we drove the car, for the first few minutes, the ABS would activate when braking, which was a pain. After a few minutes I suppose the car would realise it had a fault and would deactivate the ABS, which meant we could brake normally (but of course would be no good in an emergency if ABS was required). I am a very amateur DIY mechanic, so this felt like a big job for me. The video is great (wish I had some of your tools though!) Lessons learnt so far: I ordered the wrong reluctor ring (needed 26 teeth, not 44). I also had trouble removing the hub nut, this was easier with the wheel on and the car on the ground. When I took the old reluctor ring off, it literally disintegated it was so badly corroded, which suggests I may need to do the other side too. I am not quite finished, so will update when I am done, hopefully in the next few days..... :-)

      Nice one, thanks for the comments 👍 glad to help.. Its a nice little job to do as an amateur. haha that's a common mistake on the ring teeth count & yeah haven't some decent tools does help a lot! 👍 but as long as you get it done all's good either way 👍👌

      Thanks for the comment 👍 yeah there a really common issue! There are some cheap ones on amazon or ebay , normally cheaper than the local factors but shouldn’t be too much difference in price tbf , you just need to count the teeth as there’s a choice .. 44 or 26 teeth amzn.to/2Ykjcx1

    • @diydaly

      Hi tim, the handbrake light would be on if the brake fluid was low .. I’d check them rings first mate , just Jack it up and spin the wheel slowly . You’ll definetly see if you’ve got a cracked ring 👍

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  Год назад +2

      does it make like a grating noise and you can feel the pedal vibrating? if so thats the abs kicking in and the fault is likely to be a ring

    Cool vid!
    What I dont understand is.
    When u slide the drive shaft back in to the whole part with the brakes on there.
    Does it just easily slide in, it does not have to be pressed into a bearing again?
    And when u fasten the big nut on the axle, will the axle also turn?
    Cause id assume id prefer to tighten it witha torque wrench.
    Sorry for not knowing jack shit. :P

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  Год назад +1

      Yeah it’s slides freely in and out , it’s advisable to use a torque wrench if you are unsure

    Hello sir, my Clio 2 phase 2 from 2003, 1.5 DCi, makes a grinding noise sometimes when i brake at low speeds and sometimes at higher speeds when i go through bumps while braking, but the ABS light is off. The only time the ABS light turns on is when i reach 100km/h (60mph) and drive at that speed for a few seconds. Could that also be a cracked ABS ring? If not, what could be the issue? Great video, thanks!

    have this problem my breaks pulsing at low speed. so i went to my mechanic and told him abs sensor pickup is at fault. 1h later he comes and tells me it was just a loose damper (i had my car checked 1 month berfore that what a joke) and everything is good now. so i pay and drive home, after 1min i already knew it was not fixed at all. so i went back and after 1min of checking the ring he found it was broken... what an idiot i mean i told him exactly where to look at and im not a car expert at all. so then he wants me to change the sensor as well and with at least 2h of work on top of it. so i do it myself and report back here how it went. imagine u have a car store that does not ckeck your breaks when u bring in a car with a break issue. im so pissed at these ppl u think u bring ur car to the shop cause its better to let experts doin work on breaks that is a real safty concern but come to the realisation that u better of doin it yourself. Thanks for your Video ill hope i can fix this myself.
