Just followed this to replace a broken ring on a Megane. The Renault manual would want you to remove the calipers but your method was brilliant.
Nice one , glad it helped 👍👍
Thank you so much mate, you save my day. VERY good video !!
Thanks for the comments 😁 glad to help 👌👍
Thank you my car had same problem and the garage could not sort it but thanks to this video my car is now fixed 👏👍
Nice one , glad to hear it .. thanks for the comment 👍👍
Thank you and I hope it continues
thanks for the comment 😃👌👍
Thanks a lot for this. I somehow manage to rip the cv boot whilst undoing the lower bolts, so probably ended up costing myself more having that sorted. First time doing something like this so wasn’t focused on it…
👍👍
I did the same thing. Very easy to damage the CV boot.
Nice simple vid bud nice one 👌
Thanks for the comment , much appreciated 👌👍
Awesome video, this has really saved me a lot. I have a 2002 Clio Mk2 1.2 16v (great second car). I know, it's old but it really is a good little car. I had an ABS fault start a couple of weeks ago. Whenever we drove the car, for the first few minutes, the ABS would activate when braking, which was a pain. After a few minutes I suppose the car would realise it had a fault and would deactivate the ABS, which meant we could brake normally (but of course would be no good in an emergency if ABS was required). I am a very amateur DIY mechanic, so this felt like a big job for me. The video is great (wish I had some of your tools though!) Lessons learnt so far: I ordered the wrong reluctor ring (needed 26 teeth, not 44). I also had trouble removing the hub nut, this was easier with the wheel on and the car on the ground. When I took the old reluctor ring off, it literally disintegated it was so badly corroded, which suggests I may need to do the other side too. I am not quite finished, so will update when I am done, hopefully in the next few days..... :-)
Nice one, thanks for the comments 👍 glad to help.. Its a nice little job to do as an amateur. haha that's a common mistake on the ring teeth count & yeah haven't some decent tools does help a lot! 👍 but as long as you get it done all's good either way 👍👌
Do I need to replace the driveshaft nut? Haynes manual suggests doing this....
@@646348729vbfgdjeis Neh you’ll fine fine re using it mate , just check the threads look ok
And I'm finished! Probably took me ten times as long as it should. It was fun putting two bolts back in for the ball joint.....that took me me about an hour! But the fault seems to be gone. Thanks for the video. Clio is back on the road! 😊
@@646348729vbfgdjeis no probs , glad to help .. it’s all a learning curve , you’ll know what your doing next time ha
Nice video mate 👍
Thanks mate
Just found both of mine snapped whist doing the discs. You made it look really easy. Thanks for the upload, did you find Amazon was the cheapest for the parts. I normally use a car factors for parts.
Thanks for the comment 👍 yeah there a really common issue! There are some cheap ones on amazon or ebay , normally cheaper than the local factors but shouldn’t be too much difference in price tbf , you just need to count the teeth as there’s a choice .. 44 or 26 teeth amzn.to/2Ykjcx1
Wow nice video. Please do keep posting.
Thank you, I will
Great video - thank you
Thanks for the comment
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Exellent job sir😊
👍
We bought a 2005 clio few days ago. Absolutely no problems but this has come up today AbS light and serve light. Is it best to check break fluid first like ive seen advised?
Hi tim, the handbrake light would be on if the brake fluid was low .. I’d check them rings first mate , just Jack it up and spin the wheel slowly . You’ll definetly see if you’ve got a cracked ring 👍
Saw some forums talking about epoxy but you've just whacked it on. Is it that simple for the Kangoo too? Cheers mate
yeah its they same mate, no need for epoch they are designed for a knock on fit
I have a renault clio 2 2001 1.9dti but the last owner has removed everything from abs and i have no idea how abs looks and where it is located. Can you explain where it is located or you know any video to explain it.
I will update you if I can find any info out
@@diydaly thanks a lot!
My renault clio sound like a springy when pressing the brake only happens when i slow down would that be ABS and the abs and service light comes on
does it make like a grating noise and you can feel the pedal vibrating? if so thats the abs kicking in and the fault is likely to be a ring
Cool vid!
What I dont understand is.
When u slide the drive shaft back in to the whole part with the brakes on there.
Does it just easily slide in, it does not have to be pressed into a bearing again?
And when u fasten the big nut on the axle, will the axle also turn?
Cause id assume id prefer to tighten it witha torque wrench.
Sorry for not knowing jack shit. :P
Yeah it’s slides freely in and out , it’s advisable to use a torque wrench if you are unsure
Would this cause a pulsating of the brake pedal
yes that's a really common symptom of a cracked abs ring 👍👍
Does it require a alignment after the bottom ball joint have been disturbed?
when you say disturbed, take it you've unbolted and refitted it? if so it not usually necessary to get it tracked , if its pulling at all you should get it checked
@@diydalythank you for the swift response no the car does not pull. Cheers.
@@jackbarb9668 no probs , u should be fine then mate , obviously it can make very minor adjustment but you should be fine , I wouldn’t bother re tracking if all seems fine 👍
My Renault Clio 2 activates the ABS for a split second when I brake in low speed. Is this the cause of a broken ABS ring?
good chance thats what it is mate
Hello sir, my Clio 2 phase 2 from 2003, 1.5 DCi, makes a grinding noise sometimes when i brake at low speeds and sometimes at higher speeds when i go through bumps while braking, but the ABS light is off. The only time the ABS light turns on is when i reach 100km/h (60mph) and drive at that speed for a few seconds. Could that also be a cracked ABS ring? If not, what could be the issue? Great video, thanks!
Yea could quite easily be that
Thank you for the answer! I will check that today :)
My 06 Clio’s brake pedal jolts when coming to a stop is that probably this issue
highly likely its the do with the abs system, the later clios don't suffer with the ring though, yours may be a sensor or bearing fault 👍
@@diydaly thank you
👍
I assume this is the way to do the rubber cv boots.
Yeah it is mate 👍
where is your workshop? thnks
I’m based on the east coast in Lincolnshire mate
Dommage
👍👍
have this problem my breaks pulsing at low speed. so i went to my mechanic and told him abs sensor pickup is at fault. 1h later he comes and tells me it was just a loose damper (i had my car checked 1 month berfore that what a joke) and everything is good now. so i pay and drive home, after 1min i already knew it was not fixed at all. so i went back and after 1min of checking the ring he found it was broken... what an idiot i mean i told him exactly where to look at and im not a car expert at all. so then he wants me to change the sensor as well and with at least 2h of work on top of it. so i do it myself and report back here how it went. imagine u have a car store that does not ckeck your breaks when u bring in a car with a break issue. im so pissed at these ppl u think u bring ur car to the shop cause its better to let experts doin work on breaks that is a real safty concern but come to the realisation that u better of doin it yourself. Thanks for your Video ill hope i can fix this myself.
Thanks for the comment , nice to know its helped! im sure you'll be able to do it yourself 👍
