I think rdm is fun but damn I can't help but be depressed how heavily it gets taxed for chain res + magick barrier. Summoner does more damage, can still res and is basically a phys ranged with all its instants, and at this point in time the actual physical ranged do around as much damage as rdm. Imo I feel like SE overvalued chain res. It just needs some potency buffs, gameplay-wise I actually like it a lot and don't have major complaints
What does more dps changes gradually over time. Red mage was insanely dominant in Stormblood for example. And thats ok, you can still bring either of the two and deal roughly the same damage and clear any content. I don’t think RDM should do more damage than smn, but having them be a little more equal couldn’t hurt. Perhaps 6.4 will bring it or 7.0.
Do you always use manafication and embolden at the same time? Manafication has a shorter cooldown than embolden. Just wondering if it is optimal to drift manafication to line up with embolden.
If you do not know the kill time then use it on cooldown before embolden. If you know delaying wont cost you a manafication usage then use it with buffs.
@@apathy251 that 10 seconds per 2 minutes means that if you end a fight at 2:05 and you used it on CD you gained a usage as it comes up at 1:55. Or if you end on 4:00, using on cd has it available at 3:45 already instead of 4:05. You have to imagine you can gain a usage earlier than you would gain a fully cooldown from drifting. I just can't get over how bad it can feel to not get your procs, and that you always have to keep making the decision of "jolt or proc" every other cast. How do you get past that to enjoy the job? I really wanna like RDM, but it feels so bad to play because of that.
That’s just part of a proc based rotation. The odds shouldn’t be that low, also remember to use acceleration and the correct combo ender to guarantee proc’s. But if this is something that bothers you then perhaps steer clear of RDM, DNC, and BRD.
From thebalanceffxiv.com ‘s advanced RDM guide: If delaying Manafication for the first two-minute Embolden, you start your melee combo five seconds before the first Embolden comes back up, and double weave Manafication and Embolden together. This means your Manafication will catch the three finishers under buff, and the subsequent melee hits. If using Manafication strictly on cooldown, it is almost impossible to “guarantee” this for the first two-minute buff window at 2.48 GCD, as we do not generate enough Mana to do so without excellent proc luck. We may need to use one more GCD between combos (ideally a Swiftcast or Acceleration Veraero/Verthunder III), which limits us to one Resolution under Embolden there.
great vid but suffice to say rdm is really not my style. I dont understand why i could main monk but i still find rdm confusing. The whole mana, magic, melee, proc, dual cast really makes me give up
I like the fact that you update your job guides with each patch. Good stuff 👍
I’m glad you appreciate it!
Indeed, thank you :)
Haven't played in a couple of years and forget everything - this video is invaluable
I just got back on my red mage you helped me get back right with my Paladin (my main). Thank you again my friend, much love 👑

You wont enjoy the game if you're playing for numbers. Just play the class you enjoy

@@Juliacare i mean when is it even ok to not keep it? avg savage fight is like what? 8 to 10 min? delaying 10 sec every 2 min wont cost a usage

I dont understand why we use swiftcast and accel in the same window since accel makes your next gcd spell cast instantly anyways right?
Its so you can instant cast the next two spells! Allowing for another weave window after the instant cast first spell.
are you planning to do a gunbreaker guide?
Yes
do you pool corps-a-corps and displacement for the 2 min window or is it strictly just use on cd?
Try to pool them for the 2 minute buff windows so long you dont overcap its cooldown by letting it sit on the max number of charges

When trying to get 2 melee combos in a buff window, is there a certain amount of time on the magnification cd that would let me know to hold my burst?

I'll out myself as that guy and say it's pronounced core-a-core. Not Corpse a corpse
How does the rotation for redmage go?
Do the opener, manage your procs, keep your shit on cooldown, use melee combos before overcapping.
